season when CSU hosts John Carroll on Tuesday (Nov. 1) at 7:00 p.m. in Woodling Gym. CSU returns four starters and eight letterwinners from last year’s team that won 21 games, the second most in program history, and advanced to the postseason for the third time in the last four seasons.
a four-match homestand to close the regular season when CSU hosts UIC on Friday (Nov. 4) at 7:00 p.m. and Valparaiso on Saturday (Nov. 5) at 4:00 p.m. CSU is 16-7 overall and in second place in the league at 9-3. The Vikings were in action just once last week, falling at Milwaukee, 3-1. Jackie Dabbelt and Kara Koch record 12 kills each, while Jordan Goad handed out 43 assists and Amy Grabiec made 24 digs.
MEN’S SOCCER Cleveland State closes the regular season on Fri-
day (Nov. 4) with a 7:00 p.m. contest against Detroit. The Vikings are 8-8-1 overall and in second place in the league at 4-2-1 following 2-1 wins over Butler and Canisius last week. After Jordan Hart scored the Vikings first goal against Butler on Wednesday (Oct. 26) night, Aaron Adkins added the game-winner. Two more goals from Adkins on Sunday (Oct. 30) helped CSU knock off Canisius in the non-league finale. Brad Stuver combined for four saves in goal.
CROSS COUNTRY The cross country team finished a program-best fourth place (out of 10 teams) at the Horizon League Championship on Saturday (Oct. 29) in an event the Vikings hosted at Valleeview Farm. Allison Craine paced the Vikings with her second straight 16th place finish at the league championship with a time of 20:03. Kendra Kezur was 31st in 21:00, while Kari Haywood placed 34th in 21:12. CSU is now out of action until the NCAA Regionals on Nov. 12 in Toledo.
MEN’S BASKETBALL The Vikings hosted their annual Women’s Soccer Prepares For League Tournament The Cleveland State women’s soccer team takes center stage this week as
the Vikings open play in the Horizon League Championship with a first round match against Wright State at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday (Nov. 2) . The Vikings clinched the fourth seed with a 2-1 win at Wright State on Friday to close the regular season, combined with Butler’s loss at Loyola. CSU’s win allowed the Vikings to finish the regular season at 10-6-2, setting a program record for most wins in a season. After falling behind 1-0, Taylor Vidovic knotted the match at 1-1 with her team-leading seventh goal of the season and Frederike Dubeau won it with a goal in the 86th minute. A win on Tuesday night would send the Vikings into the semifinals against either top-seeded Milwaukee or No. 2 seeded Detroit. The semifinals and championship will be played at Milwaukee.
WRESTLING Cleveland State begins its 2011-12 season when the Vikings compete in
the Eastern Michigan Open on Nov. 5. Action will begin at 10:00 a.m. A youthful Viking squad, which includes 13 signees, is highlighted by sophomore 125-pounder Ben Williford who placed fourth at the EWL Championships last year. Matt Donohoe (wrestling at 157), Corbin Boone (184) and Nick Anthony (197) all placed sixth last season.
Green/White Scrimmage for season ticket holders on Saturday afternoon in Woodling Gym. Things get under way for good next week when CSU hosts John Carroll on Wednesday (Nov. 9) at 7:00 p.m. in the Wolstein Center for an exhibition game.
MEN’S SWIMMING & DIVING The Vikings are back in action when CSU heads to Columbus, Ohio, for a tri-meet at Ohio State that also features Virginia Tech and Denison. CSU has raced out to a 2-0 start with wins over Niagara and Green Bay this year behind a balanced effort. Josh Gonzalez has been the Horizon League Diver of the Week two of the first three weeks.
WOMEN’S SWIMMING & DIVING The Vikings are back in action when CSU heads to Columbus, Ohio, for a tri-meet at Ohio State that also features Virginia Tech and Denison. CSU is 2-0 on the young season, including a 137106 win over Green Bay on Oct. 22. Joanna Olsson won all three of her events in the dual, earning Horizon League Swimmer of the Week honors.

the regular season finale. The win helped propel the Vikings to fourth place in the league stand-
ings and a first round home match in the league
championship. It also helped CSU reach 10 wins for the first time in program history as the Vikings improved to 10-6-2.
Other Top Performances AARON ADKINS: The men’s soccer junior scored three goals last week, including the game-winner against Butler and both goals in a 2-1 win over Canisius. He leads the team with nine tallies. CROSS COUNTRY: Led by head coach Joe Jaketic, the Vikings finished a program-best fourth at the Horizon League Championships. The finish was made even sweeter as CSU was hosting the event.
