We want to formally and with great respect acknowledge that we are on the traditional lands of the Yokuts Nation. Our campus, Stanislaus State, is built on the unceded ancestral lands of these indigenous tribes. Thank you for letting us honor them and give our thanks to their ancestors and descendants for their constant and careful stewardship of this land.

At Stan State, we transform futures, one student and one family at a time. Our goal is to ensure that everyone who wants an education belongs at Stan State. Together, we are invincible. ¡Recuerden que juntos todo podemos! Somos Guerreros, and as Warriors, together, we are Warrior Strong!

Academic Resources & Support

Advising and Success Center

The Advising and Success Center (ASC) provides academic advising and programs that support students' discovery and pursuit of academic, career and life goals. The team of academic advisors, peer advisors and Faculty Fellows assist students with academic planning, resources and referrals to help students reach their graduation goals in a welcoming and caring environment.

As a student-centered organization passionate about student success, the ASC offers multidimensional advising that considers each student’s characteristics. Advisors encourage students to assume responsibility for their education, help them integrate academic, career, and life goals, and refer them to appropriate resources to solve educational and non-academic problems. ASC also provides students with accurate information about degree requirements, policies and procedures.

Learning Commons

The Learning Commons provides free academic support to all enrolled Stanislaus State students. An open learning atmosphere encourages dialogue among students to share techniques for academic success. The Learning Commons offers individual and group tutoring across most disciplines, writing tutoring for undergraduate and graduatelevel writing, and supplemental instruction sessions for select courses.

Tutoring Center

Tutoring is free for all enrolled students. Peer-led sessions offer students support by answering questions, reviewing materials, explaining concepts and modeling effective study habits. The knowledgeable and regularly trained peer educators are dedicated to helping students succeed academically.

“Our goal is to create an open atmosphere of learning, with the purpose of encouraging dialogue among students to share techniques for academic success.”
James Barnes, Ed.D. Learning Commons Director jwgbarnes@csustan.edu

Stories

Emily Yonan’s journey from Stanislaus State to a distinguished legal career exemplifies dedication and passion. A 2019 political science graduate and commencement speaker, Emily began her career after attending law school as an assistant district attorney for the Manhattan District Attorney's Office in September 2022. In October 2023, she took on the role of a Judicial Law Clerk for the U.S. District Courts.

During her time at Stan State, Emily discovered her passion for public speaking and American government. She is deeply grateful for the support from her family and the Stan State community. Emily attributes her success to her alma mater and the transformative power of a Stan State education. Emily's story, rooted in perseverance and the strength of her education, continues to inspire as she pursues justice and service in her new role.

“The classes I took at Stan State made me realize how much passion I have for public speaking and for American government, political science and wanting to find a career where I could use all these things.”
