TOSQ Tasting Notes Pinot Noir 2009 Pinot Gris 2011

TOSQ PINOT GRIS 2011 Wine of Central Otago Single Vineyard Estate Grown Location: This wine is made from grapes grown on our family owned Roadside vineyard located in the centre of the Pisa District, Central Otago. The vineyard lies along the west side of SH6, between Lake Dunstan and the Pisa Range. Vineyard: Soils: Sands and gravels, derived predominantly from greywacke and quartz schist parent material, interwoven with lenses of fine loess and silt. The grapes have been grown without the use of herbicides, synthetic chemical fertilisers, insecticides or fungicides. Careful hand-tending of the vines throughout the growing season, together with hand-harvesting of the fruit, has ensured that the grapes were well ripened and were delivered to the winery in excellent condition. Winemaking: This process has been sensitively handled by acclaimed winemaker Dan Dineen and his team at the Maude Winery. The fruit was harvested between 14-21 April 2011. The grapes were whole bunch pressed and a small proportion fermented in old french oak to add further complexity and palate weight. The wine was bottled in October 2011. 140 cases made.
