> Can be laid on wooden surfaces and mastic asphalt as well as on floor screeds that are not yet ready for tiling Thanks to the depressions in the mat and the bonded mesh, DURABASE CI++ has high compressive and bending strength and ensures optimal bonding with the thin-bed mortar. Its high elasticity ensures good crack-bridging properties making it particularly suitable for use on difficult subsurfaces such as wood, mastic asphalt and relatively fresh cement and anhydrite screeds.

> The solution The installation of a DURABASE CI++ mat ensures that smaller cracks in the subsurface are absorbed; the tiles are decoupled and cannot be damaged. This makes it possible to lay new tiles on old and problematic yet still l oad-bearing surfaces.

>The installation Fix the DURABASE CI++ mat (with the fabric layer facing downwards) to the subsurface using flexible adhesive (applied with a 4 mm notched spreader). Apply sealing tape over the joints between mats. Then apply flexible adhesive across the

entire area, pressing it through the mesh and into the depressions. Comb off excess adhesive with a notched spreader and then lay the tiles on the CI++ mat. Follow the installation instructions precisely.

Shear forces within floor tiling usually occur due to differing shear stresses between the subsurface and the tiling. With rigid, shear-resistant tiling, shear forces can cause unsightly cracks to form in the tiled surface. If a Durabase CI++ decoupling mat is used as a stress-absorbing intermediate layer, the special three-layer structure off the mat absorbs the damaging shear forces so that the tiling remains permanently crack-free.
