EDUCATION M.IAPD Kansas State University - Manhattan, KS Master of Interior Architecture & Product Design College of Architecture, Planning & Design CIDA & NASAD accredited MAY 2017 IA + FURNITURE DESIGN DIS (Study Abroad) - Copenhagen, Denmark Interior Architecture Studio & Furniture Design Scandinavian Architecture & Design Program | FALL 2016 BIO: CONTACT

I was born and raised in Salina, KS, developed my education in Manhattan, KS and began the first five years of my career in Kansas City, KS / MO. Today, I live in Charlottesville, VA (as of June 2022) with my wife, Dr. Gracie Garcia (employee of UVA hospital) and our two small dogs, Franklin (yorkie-poo) & Lois I(chihuahua).amcurrently working (remote) in educational architecture and design which allows me to connect with my passion for creating functional spaces that optimize learning, personal & professional growth, and social interaction. I believe in approaching each design without any set assumptions, and that the design should serve the needs, values, and desires of every user. By understanding how spatial environments and product designs influence human interaction, productivity, and connectiveness, I believe each project will have the means of enhancing our way of living.

HNTB Architecture - Kansas City, MO [Professional & Collegiate Sports Design] Often, my teams were split between the Kansas City (Headquarters) and Los Angeles office. This was my first exposure to virtual communication/collaboration platforms and their value when used well. Especially when it came to our internal design team charrettes and hitting major deadlines. Additional roles, I was the interior product sales rep appointment scheduler for the office. Virtual collaborative platforms used: Slack and Zoom.

OFS Brands - Manhattan, KS / Huntingburg, IN [Commerical Furniture Design] Designed while a graduate student at K State, OFS selected Lotiv to produce for the commercial furniture market. Following graduation, I collaborated with project managers, engineers, to get Lotiv BIFMA rated and marketers and dealers for Lotiv to be release at NeoCon, 2018. OFS is a family-owned contract furniture manufacturer located in Huntingburg, Indiana. Originally named Pliant, a simple, logical, and fun solution to the everyday task table. With its small but thoughtfully integrated details, it will become an delightful addition to any space. Due to its unique sled base, the table can be utilized with multiple seating types and give ease of manipulation to the user. Today, you can purchase Lotiv online after selecting your desired height, powder coat color and work-surface color.

To the right, the original sketch, prototype and a rendering of Lotiv while a graduate student at KSU.

“Work happens everywhere today. Light in scale and convenient, pull up the Lotiv table for those scheduled gatherings or the more serendipitous moments. Lotiv derived from a design collaboration with Kansas State University students who studied the evolving workspace and identified the need for more flexible surfaces to support activity in casual spaces. Purposeful details such as an inline handle for mobility and a device groove to keep screens readily accessible elevate Lotiv’s utility.”

While with HNTB, I was part of their professional and collegiate sports interiors team. I assisted on construction documentation Illinois University football training facility, schematic through though to CD’s of Sacramento Republic FC MLS stadium and design development to CD’s for NFL’s new Las Vegas Raiders Football Stadium. Shown on this spread is work done on Las Vegas Raiders Stadium and is one of several dozen concession stands/bars on the 100 level floor. Following this design were construction documentation and detailing done in Revit.

The palette of the Raider’s stadium was a strict black, white and silver. Given the floor plan of a triangular bar, I decided to wrap it in a black sheet steel material and force everything interior to be white for a high contrasting accent. Inset and angled the tv’s for menu’s as well as centralized a back-lite Raiders logo printed on stretched fabric, flooding the small space with white light.

Sacramento Republic FC. Working with our electrical engineer, accent red lighting for pregame hype was added in back of lockers. The lower drawer (cleat/shoe storage) is designed/detailed with perforated holes for air circulation and cutaway handle for accessibility, cost savings and simplicity. The lockers are construction entirely out of black and white phenolic.
