EDITOR NOTE Welcome to the Family of readers for Christian Times Magazine! We are happy you have joined us! Whether online or through the purchase of a hardcopy, CTM actually is one of the best magazines in America. We are published in America, distributed from America and we rely on Americans to help us get the message out about Yeshua being our Lord and Savior. I wanted to share the following with you as my Editor’s Note for this month. I hope you will enjoy it! “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” (1 Peter 2:9) Christians are a kingdom of priests; so in order to understand what that means, let’s look at what someone had to do to become a priest in the Old Testament: In the Old Testament priesthood, you see: (A) THE ATONING BLOOD (B) BEING CLOTHED IN THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF YESHUA (JESUS CHRIST, THE MESSIAH) (C) BEING ANOINTED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT God’s Word flows in beautiful harmony from the Old Testament in analogy into the New Testament in reality as Jesus becomes the fulfillment of the Law and our atoning sacrifice. Have you been bathed in the cleansing blood? Are you aware you’re wearing the righteous robe of Christ and the Holy Spirit lives within you? As you go through your day today, be ever mindful: you are a priest— chosen, royal, holy, set apart for Him. May God bless and keep you my friend! I am Faithfully yours in Yeshua, Charles Lingerfelt Editor-in-Chief CTM - Christian Times Magazine P. O. Box 360722 Dallas, TX 75336 USA ‘THE MOST CONSERVATIVE MAGAZINE IN AMERICA!’

What has brought her into politics and caused her to make this decision to run for Dallas County Judge is that she feels, along with her husband, that their daughter was “mistreated and abused at school.“ It was Dallas County mask mandates which allowed Dallas ISD to keep their 11 year older daughter in a plexiglass cage at her school library when she couldn’t wear a mask. In the daughter’s gym class, their daughter was “forced” to remain “coned off“ behind a barrier to “protect“ the rest of the class. You may read the entire story at davis4dallas.com We feel that no child should be treated in such fashion at school, or anywhere else. Lauren Davis says, “The madness has to end!” And we agree with her! We urge you to vote for Lauren Davis for Dallas County Judge.

And when she is elected, the insanity will end and our children will be protected in Dallas County. And so, it is with explicit conviction that we endorse Lauren Davis in the Texas primary on 1 March 2022. God bless you Lauren Davis; and thank you for putting your name out there ‘on the line.’ Sincerely, Charles Lingerfelt Editor-in-Chief CTM P. O. Box 360722 Dallas, TX 75336 USA

broken an expensive alabaster jar filled with fragrant nard, a rare essence. The smell of the costly perfume filled the room as Mary knelt and began to anoint Jesus with the oil. Mary’s beautiful long hair served as a towel as she wiped Jesus’ feet. She poured out her very best, a loving sacrifice. Nard came from the far away mountains of Northern India. The expensive perfume cost about a year’s wages. The Jesus asked “Why do you criticize her for doing such a good thing for me?” (Mark 14:6 NLT) Criticize, Parecho (par-ekh-o Strong’s Greek 3930) criticize, bother, make trouble. We remember Mary of Bethany today because her devotion went beyond the art of hospitality. She anointed Jesus for His burial just hours before his crucifixion. Other friends acted too late. Do you have a critical spirit? Do you find it easy to criticize others? This is a must read for you. Words matter. They either kill or promote life. (Proverbs 18:21) Two negative words are used in this drama to express indignation: embrimaomai meaning to snort with indignation, and parecho meaning to trouble or criticize. Two days before Jesus was crucified at the hands of the Roman government, he was hosted by Mary and Martha in a dinner at Bethany. They were in the home of Simon who had been a leper. The honorary event was attended by religious dignitaries as well as Jesus’ disciples. You can be sure the talk there smacked of religious superiority. Then suddenly the attention shifted. Mary had broken an expensive alabaster jar filled with fragrant nard, a rare essence. The expensive perfume cost about a year’s wages.

sound of indignant criticism erupted in the room. Judas Iscariot was first to speak. “That perfume could have been sold for $300!” he blurted out. “The money could have been given to the poor,” he snorted, pretending concern for the poor. John tells us the man was actually pilfering from the disciples’ money bag which he carried. (John 12:6) It’s a wonder that Mary did not flee the room in tears. Jesus halted the bad mouthing with a command, “Leave her alone!” he rebuked. “Why do you criticize her for doing such a good thing to me? She anointed me in preparation for my burial. Mary will be remembered for this act wherever the gospel is preached.” (Paraphrase from Mark 14) Burial? What? No one knew anything about this. There must have been an air of shock. But Mary certainly must have known the Spirit’s prompting was urgent. She had endured the criticism to carry out her mission. Mary is well remembered. Her critics forgotten. For the most part we don’t even know their names. Why would we? Many a good deed has been stymied and halted by people who don’t matter. Who even remembers those who had bad mouthed righteous deeds? Critics rarely know what they are talking about. Servants of the Lord often are called upon to carry out their mission under sealed orders. Mary’s sacrifice of the costly ointment, her timely act of obedience in the face of criticism leaves us all a model to remember. We do well to ignore the critics and finish our tasks. Critics don’t count. What we do for Jesus is never lost. That’s all that matters. Really matters.

ST. VALENTINE AND ST. NICHOLAS HAVE SOMETHING IN COMMON By Dr. J.P. Sloane

With the onset of February, thoughts turn to love and Valentine's Day, and who better to symbolize that love than the one from whom this day is named? St. Valentine and St. Nicholas are two different people, but they have a lot in common. First, both men are acknowledged and

Christians who sought to manifest the love of God through their kind deeds, which were accompanied by miracles, so the Catholic Church made them saints after they died. St. Nicholas was a blessing for children and the poor, while St. Valentine was a blessing for lovers. To be sure, when we speak of lovers, we are not referring to unbiblical relationships. St. Valentine came alongside those couples who had found love in their hearts for one another during challenging and dangerous times. He would eventually officiate their marriages but pay a terrible price for doing so. What do we know about St. Valentine? Some say that he lived during the reign of the Roman Emperor Claudius II, who had him beheaded on February 14—what we now call "Valentine's Day"—around 270 AD.

Therefore, it would be fitting to hear the words of Jesus Himself when He gave us His last and final Commandment: "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another" (John 13:34-35, NIV). The lives of St. Valentine and St. Nicholas have shown the love of Christ, but in today's society, it is essential that WE show it!

The Flawed Logic of the Cancel Culture By Chris Grahn Howard No matter your politics, if you are a Christian, the cancel culture is an issue you can not ignore. In looking at the new social order of canceling those who speak offensive things, act offensively, or even just disagree with the presumed majority. It is a very dangerous social construct to live within. The latest examples of Neil Young and Whoopie Goldberg are highlighted as examples. What is canceling? Think of it this way -being culturally/socially blocked from having a prominent public platform or career. The act of canceling is nothing new. Canceling is nothing more than ostracizing put in millennial terms. Those high in societies worldwide have been doing this from the beginning of civilization.

One might say that the Nazis went the extra mile to cancel Jews. I know it sounds harsh; it is, was, and will always be so. The Nazis were not the first, but maybe the most efficient in attempting to cancel the Jews. The ancient Egyptians enslaved Jews and others for hundreds of years. Enslavement is another extreme form of cancel culture. People of color worldwide have been subject to genocide, enslavement, and canceling. This is nothing new; sadly, it is an ancient concept that should bother any Christian. Attempting to cancel others is an attempt to judge and punish one for action. Clearly, some activities of a person should be punished. Words ideas are different. Yes, still potentially offensive, hurtful, and still a sin, but different. The idea of what is offensive changes over time. The act of being offended is not a signal of a crime committed. Being offended can be righteous and a matter of sensibility, separately or simultaneously. Being offended is not enough to punish another. Here is the central problem with cancel culture. First, it seeks to force norms of the perceived majority on everyone else. Second, it assumes those not canceled or being canceled are above reproach, guilt, or offensiveness.

Third, the act of Doxxing is a natural extension of this phenomenon. Finally, those canceled have no path for redemption unless there is corruption of the standards. Which weakens the standard. As Christians, we know we are not without sin. We all fall short of the glory of God. Cancel culture, the act of canceling demonstrates no option for forgiveness or co-existence. What are Christians to do when our faith is on the canceled culture chopping block? I ask because it has been, bit by bit, placed on that very block. I find the case of Neil Young interesting as he is attempting to cancel another because he disagrees with the message of Rogan. Yet, it was Young who has made some disparaging remarks in is past and now may be the one canceled. Young’s comments on Aids and gay people are very offensive to many. This highlights another flaw in the current cancel Culture litany. There is no statute of limitations on a past offense worthy of cancellation. Here is what Young said - In a 1985 interview with Melody Maker, musician Neil Young said of AIDS and gay men, “It is scary. You go to a supermarket and you see a faggot behind the fuckin’ cash register, you don’t want him to handle your potatoes.” Pardon the language, but it is important to attribute the quote honestly. Another example is Whoopie Goldgerb, in her rant about the holocaust. “The Holocaust isn’t about race,” Goldberg said as her co-hosts appeared stunned. “No, it’s not about race,” Goldberg continued. Joy Behar said, “Well, they considered Jews a different race.” “It’s not about race,” Goldberg reiterated. “What is it about?” Behar asked. “It’s about man’s inhumanity to man; that’s what it’s about,” Goldberg said. “But it’s about a White supremacist going after Jews and Gypsies,” Navarro said as Goldberg attempted to speak over her. “But these are two White groups of people,” Goldberg said as her colleagues disagreed. Goldberg has apologized and has been suspended from the View. Yet, these comments and others from her past are ripe for the cancellation process. This brings me to this point, the standard against which people are held. Goldberg will survive this and will still, I suspect, flourish.

CHRISTIAN TIMES MAGAZINE | PAGE 19

. Why? She is one of them; they will forgive her. A forgiveness that is not uniform across the spectrum of people being up for cancelation. This is another form of discrimination. The hollowness of the cancel culture resided in this central theme. If you are one of us, we will punish you, but we will “Let” you go on, as long as you stay in line. Conformity to the central new norm is the goal here; it is the path in which you are to be controlled. Uniformity of thought is the goal, whether the opposition is right or wrong. That opposition can not be allowed to have utterance in the public marketplace of ideas. Cancellation is both the punishment and warning to others. The problem here is that, like being sinless, it is impossible to attain. At some point, everyone is worthy of being canceled. Their religion-based this is one of centralized control, not liberty or freedom. Secular Humanism is that religion has its own liturgy and doctrine. This religion leads to one place, the abyss. That abyss is, in many ways, hell; the ultimate cancelation, if you will. Under Christianity, all are equally worthy of that ultimate cancelation. However, we have a path out of that abyss, Jesus Christ. God does not want us to be canceled; he also does not want us to sin. We will all sin, and he has provided the path out of that sin. At this point, I must make an essential distinction between cancel culture and walking away from sin, sinful situations, people, and activities. There is a difference with a distinction. Canceling a person’s livelihood and social activities and shutting them out of society is not the same. As Christians, we avoid those people and activities that could cause us to sin. Yet, we are also commanded to walk alongside our brothers and sisters in Christ to help them. While it may sound contradictory, it is not. Doxxing is another animal in the bag of tricks of those who support the cancel culture. This, however, is a more personal attack to ruin a person’s life. According to Kaspersky.com Doxing (sometimes written as Doxxing) is the act of revealing identifying information about someone online, such as their real name, home address, workplace, phone, financial, and other personal information. That information is then circulated to the public — without the victim’s permission. Doxxing extends to calling a person’s place of employment to get them fired for simply disagreeing, running for office, or online postings. It is often referred to as a form of vigilantism. People who are often doxed are not celebrities, politicians, or anyone of prominence. It is often used to ensure those who do not conform do not become leaders in a community. It is punitive and destructive and often hurts more than the intended victim. Yes, people will say and do offensive things from time to time. They will be selfish and hurtful. I would never suggest engaging with people who will do nothing but cause you stress and strife. However, the cancel culture is not the answer. It will only suppress those not in accord with the presumed majority wants and expectations. Christians are to stand apart, no matter the ostrazizing, attacks and other tribulations. Be true, know the truth, speak the truth, and do it with compassion and love.

True Democracy No More By Katherine Daigle

One may begin to wonder if Democracy is a possibility today. One may also begin to wonder how it all came to this fix. History unfurled itself and spread into the present in many ways, all too fast for our eyes, ears, and any other sense to recognize. The world settled into what we now are seeing a global reset. When the world’s oldest democracy, infamous for its most recent step-back from a war on terror (because that was clearly the aim and not democracy instilling), itself is torn in its socio-political fabric, what would become of the rest of the world? The planned pandemic has indeed made it difficult for democracy to survive when ruled by a small group of powerful people who hold a disproportionate amount of wealth, privilege, and political power hidden from view of the people, they are shrouded in secrecy as the current administration secretly conceal themselves behind masks. Biden’s administration is promising a Presidency of transformational change, a temperate, peaceable, measurable change – deliberate equitable and with racial autonomy. Even when the laisse-faire breeding strain of liberalism assumes power at hand, the actuality is such that it reflects a dictatorial plan of action by the puppeteers who manipulates an inanimate object, called Biden to create the illusion that this puppet is alive. Tough times need tough measures – how easy is it for leaders to cherryglaze evidence of totalitarianism, make it pass as mere, momentary inconvenience that is under repair in a democracy? On either side of the political spectrum, we now see these tough measures gain favor and accolades – after all, parties are assured continual regimes in the name of safety. The planned pandemic has made it easy for totalitarianism to be ushered in, in all its glory. Biden has made America look like a fool as rogue regimes run amok in the face of his weakness. And instead of the unity he vowed, Biden fanned the flames of hate and division, even stoking racial equity tensions for partisan ends with his incoherent disgusting, cynical rants. Similarly American school boards are enacting Critical Race Theory rules prohibiting teaching students about our history of American slavery, racism, and genocide, other modernized countries REQUIRE their young people to be taught about their own evil past (and present) in the hopes that the next generation won’t make their parents’

mistakes. So German students are thoroughly enmeshed in learning about the Holocaust. "French students are taught about their brutal colonial past in Algeria and Vietnam." Irish students are aware of the abuse caused by the Catholic Church. Spanish students get courses on the evils of fascism and Spain’s fascist past. Most people around the world admired our creativity and inventiveness. This makes their incredulity even worse — they simply can’t figure out why in a democracy with a constitution from birth we allow this misery to continue (“The Laughingstock of the World - Michael Moore”) During a this planned crisis, the situation resembles something of a war, a sort of “Wag

CHRISTIAN TIMES MAGAZINE | PAGE 23

The Dog”: a situation in which a powerful people are controlling and manipulating someone or something that is much less important or powerful. The current government has all control and access. It can bar the emergence of conflicting opinion, thus making freedom of speech and expression a not so fundamental right during these times. The world of today, America included, does not understand that for any dialogue to sustain, it is necessary for two ends to be in existence – even more than two, for that matter. Contradictory opinions are allowed to exist. But we can assume that it is not that the world fails to understand this reality; it simply does not want dialogue. It does not want critical, rational reasoning amongst the masses. The leaders of today want the citizens to be puppets – or worse, mechanized entities that will go on, not questioning anything that is imposed over them. They are happy in their comfort but even this comfort is engineered so that they do not see the true standards of living that they deserve. When the bubbled reality is such, why would anybody want to opine on anything? It is best then, for each citizen to lead an apolitical life, cherishing the subtle breeze of non-harm. "Whenever elites own everything, everyone else is shackled to horrible jobs just to survive, while the elites live in obscene luxury with no thought to the misery and suffering of the masses” Sound familiar? "In the wake of the global pandemic, today’s elites are taking back the planet they believe rightfully belongs to them and putting the rest of us back where they believe we belong:" (““You Will Own Nothing and Be Happy” Is Just Feudalism 2.0”) In economic chains. We are watching social media turn watchdogs for the government as well – the term watchdog is not so much an activistic goodness here. When Twitter and Instagram go on to censor voices and charts up a list of reasons for the same, one can only think of the absolute peril that this holds for all. It could lead up to the complete erasure of one’s virtual identity and through that, the records of their words and voice spread out over the multiverse of platforms, get crushed under the weight on an extended arm of the government. That there is now a metaverse that everyone jokes about is ironic in this sense. Tough times need tough measures – but this kind of a tough measure was always lurking around, pandemic-era or not.

Can there be a return to true Democracy? There are valid doubts. All that we can strive for is the relentless pursuit for free voice and free choice; for our rights to be preserved and armed in resistance. It is not “Imperial Ambitions” if those are the people who ask for support, and the support is provided without a single shot. Imperial ambitions are flunking thousands of American lives and billions of American taxpayers` money down a dead-end and shameful military operations and policies that only make the United States the most hated country in the world. Imperial ambitions are threatening with another world war to a whole region that chose its own development scenario, forcing countries to give up their independence and keeping them hostage to make a statement.

‘Celebrating My Valentine’ By Mickey Nichols

How do we determine when we are truly, truly in love? Is there a certain age or maturity level one must attain before they are capable of making this determination? And I am talking about the kind of love where not only do you want to spend the rest of your life with a certain someone but also cannot abide even the thought of living a life without them! This month we celebrate St. Valentine's Day, a day for all starry eyed lovers. The Bible tells us that there are 4 kinds of love: Storge- A love for others close to you (example: love for your family members), Eros- romantic or sexual love, Philia- a love for mankind and or brotherhood, and, lastly and most important Agape- God's perfect love for mankind. Almost all marriages (at least in America) are based on Eros love. We see, we are attracted, we establish a relationship, and then we fall in love. Is there such a thing as love at first sight? Well, a strong initial attraction can happen instantly! And often does...we hear of one day, a week, or a month's waiting time before a quickie marriage. And statistics show that these types of marriages last approximately as long as the "traditional" marriages that have engagement times of 12 months or more.

In my previous article in the December Issue of CTM I teased you with "a story for another day". Well, this is that story. If you read the article you might remember that my family moved suddenly from Washington, Ga., to a small (but bigger than Washington!) coal mining town in East Tennessee not far from the Kentucky border called LaFollette. My attitude at this move was anything but exemplary. After 5 years in Washington I felt like I had finally "arrived". This "arrival" was based solely on my ability to carry a football but to a young eighth grader the "attaboys" I had received led me to believe that my classmates (and the townspeople) really liked me! And then suddenly after the move I am nobody again. Chagrined but determined to make the most of what I thought was a bad situation I entered into the everyday life of an eighth grader again. After football season I even ventured out for the Jr. High basketball team and, boy, was I ever humbled! Up until that point I had never even held a basketball in my hands so suffice it to say that, even though I made the team, I was 12th man out of 12. I looked forward to next August when I would be in 9th grade and be able to go out for football. August 1 arrived and along with 65/70 other boys I started practice. I was fortunate enough to make 1st team Quarterback on the HS "B" Team so once again I felt a measure of respect (at least from my other "B" Team teammates). I also went out for the HS basketball team (once again relegated to 12th man on the "B" Team) and in the spring there were the baseball and track teams. Participation in sports was my biggest motivation in school so I moved from season to season with football, basketball, baseball, and track being my gauge as to the actual seasons of Autumn, Winter, Spring, and Summer. As I grew and matured physically it became apparent that football and baseball were ideally suited for me but I stubbornly clung to wanting to "Letter" in all 4 sports so I doggedly practiced basketball and track to that end. All in all, at the end of my Senior year I had managed to acquire 16 Varsity "Letters" and one of those "Letters" was for making straight A's for an entire year! In the winter of my Sophomore year (March, to be exact) I was invited by a friend, who was a female in the 8th grade, to a Sadie Hawkins Girl Scout Dance. Upon arrival I immediately spied a cute and petite young lady dancing with a lad on the dance floor. I turned to my friend Judy and said, "Judy, who is that girl dancing right there"? She replied, "That's Brenda Parrott". And that, my friend, was the start of a world class romance! I asked her to dance again and again, infuriating her date, but I couldn't help myself. During our dancing together I foolishly came on too strong for her as an 8th grader. After all, I was a soon-to-be Upperclassman starting on the football team! And I thought she would be star struck...but, not so fast, Mickey! For the next 8 months I chased her, called repeatedly, and tried to speak to her at school but to no avail. Finally, at the end of November, she sent "word" through one of our mutual friends that she would "GO" with me. Having been totally smitten for 8 months and having received no encouragement during that time, needless to say I was elated! Was it love at first sight? For me I can definitely say YES, but Brenda tarried 8 months before she admitted an attraction to me. We continued dating for 2 years and 6 months through HS and even after I went away to college. At the end of my first year in college we could wait no longer and the first Friday in May, 5/4/1962, we eloped. Her parents were none too pleased, to say the least! She was still only 16 and I was only 19, having turned that just the previous month, and we had made absolutely ZERO plans for the future. Once again our Great God in his infinite mercy made provisions for us. He guided us to a location where her sister and her husband lived and immediately found a job for me at the plant where he worked. We were so in love and so happy! 9 months after our elopement our precious daughter Sebrina arrived and 15 months later our son Darren came along. Our life after that was the usual: career for me, homemaker for Brenda. We tried our best to raise our children in the "nurture and admonition" of the Lord. Church was always a huge part of our lives and remains so even today. This May, Lord willing, we will celebrate our 60th wedding anniversary. We are still deeply in love and remember fondly our early dating days. Were we truly in love as teenagers (16 and 14)? Or was "attraction" enough to keep us together? We certainly THOUGHT we were in love back then but we can surely say that it was the Lord who kept us together through our growing years and beyond. Now that we are in the last quarter of life's game we know that beyond a shadow of a doubt the Lord has grown us, guided us, and loved us with Agape Love throughout our lives. We continue to try and serve Him however we can. A part of our ministry is to be an example in attending church services, sharing our faith whenever possible, and serving the brethren. As long as we are physically able we intend to continue serving the Lord. He is faithful and just and filled with mercy and Agape Love and neither of us can imagine living life without Him. If any of you, our faithful readers, have never made a decision for Christ there could be no better time than right now. You will NEVER regret this life changing (and eternity changing!) decision.

A SIDEBAR: I don’t quite recall when all this started [in America] it is very perplexing when the politicians do not vet certain individuals who wish to enter. History recalls certain individuals who came to America that were brought through Ellis Island, under much scrutiny. The ships that they came in had to be examined by medical personnel that they deemed healthy enough to pass through. [The millionaires and billionaires and stars of that time were first off the ship without much scrutiny. Even back then America had two different systems.] The individuals were taken by ferry (from their ships) to Ellis Island to undergo a physical; whereby in 1907, the doctors had already developed a secret code system using a piece of chalk. They would mark the passenger’s clothes with a letter of the alphabet: ‘H’ indicated heart trouble, ‘L’ suspected lameness, ‘X’ suspected feeble-mindedness, and so on. Remember previously as ships arrived here, they had to be deemed clean by medics no Leprosy, TB, etc. A far cry from what is going on in today’s America. Present day Texas, Arizona, California, etc. are being inundated by the Radical Democratic Left’s agendas/policies of “Welcome to America” where NOT one single solidary illegal is vetted and deemed “clean” whatsoever. America votes Democrat and this is just one of their thousands of blundering disasters that other Americans have to suffer with. Nothing will change until America changes back!!!
