COME TO THE MOUNTAIN Pastor Robert Summers and I have been friends for 47 years. I first met him in our home while we were pastoring a church in Buffalo, Texas. I had begun a new work there in the small Central Texas town and had invited him to come and speak to our young people at the youth center we had just established. If my memory serves me correct, it was a Friday evening and he had stopped by the parsonage so that we could meet and then drive over together to the youth center. The name of the work was called, YOUTHARAMA. We were just waiting for the Friday night football game to end at the local high school football stadium. Some of the ladies who were working with me at the time were already there at YOUTHARAMA and were preparing for the arrival of all the teenagers following the game. The ladies in the community would prepare sandwiches, cookies and light refreshments and Sodas for the young people and bring them over on Friday and Saturday nights. Robert and I visited for a few minutes and then we drove on over to YOUTHARAMA. That night the youth played ping-pong and pool and some table games, and then we began to sing some songs together. Then Robert gave an inspirational message to the young people. We had a good-sized crowd of youth that evening for his visit with us. He later became one of our frequent visitors to the youth center to speak and inspire our young people to follow Christ. In 1974, when my family and I moved into the Youth Center full-time, we had an official ‘Grand Opening’ and Robert was the featured speaker.

Our paths would cross back-and-forth, again and again over the next few years and our friendship would grow and mature. In 1977, we moved the ministry down to the Texas Hill Country(at Canyon Lake) and later, my wife and I became the Youth and Childrens’ ministers at Church in the Wildwood, where Robert’s Dad was Senior Pastor.
In 1985, Robert and his wife JoAn felt called to the Dallas Texas area to begin a new ministry, which would later become known as Mountain Creek Church. Eventually, property was purchased on top of a mountain - the highest Peak in Dallas County. A prayer ministry was developed from this mount and it became known as, ‘Prayer Mountain.’
Ministries conducted on this mountain evolve around the activities of the church body, which meets regularly on Sundays - morning and evening. The Church and Prayer Mountain have a continual flow of unique ministries moving forth from the mountain. A Healing Ministry is conducted there weekly for those in need of Prayer and Healing. An active ministry to Youth and children are under the leadership of capable Youth Directors. The Church meets regularly for Fellowship Dinners and The Men have a regular time monthly for Men’s Breakfasts.
The true cry of their ‘heartbeat’ is made regularly throughout The MetroPlex and the nation to everyone to ‘Come To The Mountain’ for a time of repentance and devotion to God, and for times of Renewal before The Almighty. These times are for the strengthening of the body of Christ throughout the nation.
There are currently hiking and biking trails being developed on the 100 acre complex. These Trails are for the purpose of encouraging Wounded Veterans to come for hiking and biking as a means of helping and healing from post traumatic stress.
The New Pavilion on the mountain Is nearly complete and will be Dedicated in October 2019. The governor of Texas has been invited and is expected to attend. The public is cordially invited as well.
From this time forward, there will go out a cry from the heartbeat of this mountain, ‘Prayer Mountain Dallas,’ to many parts of this nation, and that cry will be without a doubt, “Come To The Mountain!”
And from that mountain there shall flow rivers of healing and salvation to many throughout the world; because the vision of this church and the ministries conducted there by Prayer Mountain Dallas are worldwide in scope.
These ministries are anointed of God and The Holy Spirit and will be for years to come.

Brief summary of the ministry at Prayer Mountain and Mountain Creek Community Church Prayer Mountain and the related congregation were founded in 1985 with a vision to serve the DFW Metroplex by providing a special park setting for prayer retreats. The Mountain is the highest point overlooking the six million population Metroplex.
The Mountain Creek Church began in our own living room with 16 people in 1985. Robert and Joan Summers founded the ministry. From the beginning well seasoned men of God have served as presbyters: Des Evans, Cleddie Keith, Jim Mackey and others. We began with 5 acres. The forested campus eventually grew to 100 acres. Prayer Mountain sponsors a Healing Room every Saturday. This ministry is led by Joseph and Mary Gracey. They were originally part of International House of Prayer in Kansas City. Â
We strongly believe in the importance of united prayer. We work with prayer groups from various ethnicities and denominations. We pastored Church in the Wildwood where we evangelized and discipled young Hippies who had lived in communes in the hills. We built a small Bible school there for training youth. Dad and mom summers were church planters. They were a source of prayer and inspiration for Prayer Mountain. This was their 7th plant. Our congregation is composed of many well experienced missionaries. We have traveled in many nations- seeing the great need.

We regularly have hundreds of people coming to the mountain. We have built this outdoor meeting place with large full bathrooms. Three large Mountain bike clubs have worked to create 17 miles of looping trails through the woods. State bicycle rallies are regularly held here. Our youth receive the concession profits for their outreach. The biking and hiking trails are known as The Big Cedar Wilderness Trails. You may look us up on the internet.
Our church staff serves under an eldership board. Our elders look to seasoned presbyters for crucial direction of leadership. Our grounds and prayer rooms are open daily with staff and security present.
We have, through prayer, experienced many miracles. I regularly remind our people to remember these, to monument these miracles to build our faith. (See short blog on the subject) We have proven that small congregations can do big things for God.

Finally, as a reminder, none of this will matter if the border is not secured. The people will keep on coming. The cost will keep on rising. We must have an endgame in the plan.
