General facts CLIMATE IN THE THREE REGIONS
In general, the climate varies from region to region in Peru. On the coast, the winter is humid and cloudy, lasts from June to September with an average temperature of 14 ° C. In summer, temperatures can reach a maximum of 28 ° C or more. In the Sierra, the sun shines in the mornings throughout the year, but the temperature drops at night with an average of 5 ° C. The climate in the Selva is tropical all year round. In the mountain and jungle regions, the rainy season goes from December to April.
LANGUAGES
As part of its rich cultural tradition, Peru has many different languages. Although Spanish/Castilian is commonly spoken throughout the country, Quechua is the largest inheritance of the Inca Empire and is still spoken with regional dialects in many parts of Peru. In addition, other languages are spoken, such as the Aymara (in Puno), and a surprising variety of dialects in the Amazon Rainforest, which are divided into 15 linguistic families and 43 different languages: Spanish/Castilian: 80.3%; Quechua: 16.2%; Other Languages: 3.0%; Foreign languages: 0.2%
TIME ZONE

The time in Peru is 5 hours behind Coordinated Universal Time (UTC -05: 00). Peru has only one time zone and does not have summer time. During the winter (summer in the northern hemisphere), the time in Peru is the same as the Central American time, while in the summer (winter in the northern hemisphere) it is like the Eastern time.
CURRENCY
The official currency in Peru is El Sol (S /) which is divided into 100 cents. The circulation includes coins of 5, 10, 20, 50 cents and coins of 1, 2 and 5 soles. There are bills with denominations of 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 Soles. There are no restrictions for currency exchange in Peru. The US dollars (USD) are commonly accepted in hotels, stores, and supermarkets in Lima and in the main cities of the country. We recommend exchanging money in exchange houses or banks, as they offer greater security and security. Avoid the money changers of the call, since they do not offer guarantees.
VACCINES
It is suggested that people who travel to the Peruvian jungle, have the yellow fever vaccine. (According to information provided by the Ministry of Health, there have been no cases of this disease registered in this area for 15 years). Have the vaccine at least 10 days before arriving in the jungle. It is necessary to take your vaccination certificate with you since you will be required to show it throughout the trip to Puerto Maldonado.
ELECTRICITY
In Peru the sockets are of type A and C, the standard voltage is 220v and the standard frequency is 60 Hz. Some artifacts do not need a converter if the label indicates INPUT 100-240v, 50/60 HZ, the device can be used in all countries of the world. This is common for tablet/laptop chargers, cameras, cell phones, electric toothbrushes, etc.
DOCUMENTATION
The activities in Peru and the time of permanence must be coherent with the visa and the permanence granted. In case of needing a change in the migratory quality or the extension of its permanence, it will have to realize, in the days previous to its exit of Peru, the procedures with the authorities of Migrations.

Here we begin our emotional adventure towards the Andes, The Inca Trail is an extraordinary and unforgettable trail that will take you to the most incredible and picturesque places, as well as the magnificent architectural legacy that we have inherited from the Incas. We start off by taking a bus to the 82nd kilometer of the railway line (2550 masl), a place where we begin our trail; later after the last coordination, we begin the trek to the mountaintop to Miskay or Llactapata where we have our first meal. We will visit the Llactapata complex and then the Huayllabamba community (3100 masl). We continue with the last part of this climb to Lluncachimpa or Huayllabamba campsite for a nice meal. DAY 5: CHAQUICOCHA/WIÑAYHUAYNA (7 HRS) This day is the easiest day of the Trek, our tour takes us through warm tropical forests known as the Yunga, here we can observe stunning landscapes such as the important archaeological complexes along the way; We will visit the archeological complexes of Phuyupatamarca (3600masl) and Wiñayhuayna (2650 masl), here we find our last campsite. DAY 6: WIÑAYHUAYNA – MACHUPICCHU /CUZCO (5 HRS) Early morning dawn, still under the starlight and lantern in hand (4:30 Hrs), we resume our journey heading to Inti Punku or Puerta del Sol (Sun door) (2780 masl), a place where we can see the Sunrise over Machu Picchu, simply an amazing and breathtaking experience; then descend to Machu Picchu (2400 masl) to have our guided tour of the Citadel. DAY 3: TEMPLES OF THE SUN AND THE MOON, CHAN CHAN ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE & HUANCHACO. Make an interesting tour of the most important archaeological sites in Trujillo and finish this adventure in the peaceful and traditional Huanchaco. Located in Moche, between the countryside and the desert, you will find the Temple of the Sun, built with more than 100 million adobe bricks and currently stands at a height of 45 Mts Here we can see the Huaca de la Luna a beautiful temple divided into 6 buildings, one above the other. Then, visit Chan Chan Archaeological Complex, spread over a wide area, it was the center of the Chimu Empire, and it is the largest Pre-Columbian adobe city that has existed on the continent. DAY 5: TÚCUME – HUACA RAJADA – ROYAL TOMBS OF SIPAN. Visit Túcume, land full of invaluable history, tradition, customs, and archaeological wealth, located 35 kilometers from Chiclayo and is also known as the Valley of the Pyramids. The complex covers an area of 220 hectares and is surrounded by fertile crop fields. Túcume is a great complex where you can see 25 pyramidal Temples, and Huaca Las Estacas, Mirador, and Huaca Larga. Tour The site museum named as the complex and explains the visitors the development, life and end of the Lambayeque Culture. Then visit the spectacular Señor de Sipan Royal Tombs museum modern pyramidal building that houses true Mochica art jewels in its interior and keeps the remains of the ancient Sipan ruler. Finally, tour the spectacular Huaca Rajada complex composed by two mud brick pyramids and a terrace built by the ancient Mochicans. In 1978, the celebrated archaeological discovery of two pre-Hispanic tombs was made: El Señor de Sipan (Lord of Sipan) and his ancestor, El Viejo Señor de Sipan (Old Lord of Sipan), both very important persons that ruled the Valley’s destiny during the 2nd and 3rd centuries of our era. Get surprised with the archeological wealth of Trujillo and go through extensive fields of sugar cane until arrival to El Brujo Archeological Complex. Learn about the three Huacas (temples) that make up this site: Huaca Cao Viejo, Huaca Partida and Huaca Prieta and learn about the theory behind the site’s name “El Brujo” (The Warlock). Finally, visit the Cao museum named after La Señora de Cao, a female mummy just discovered in 206. Excavated in a highlypreserved state, the Lady of Cao is thought to have been an important ruler, as she was found surrounded by extravagant jewelry and weapons. The heads are decorated with a trophy skull, the faces are flat and wide, and the body is designed with geometric motifs. The body of a very important person was placed in a fetal or squatting position inside each sarcophagus. DAY 4: AREQUIPA/COLCA VALLEY. Gaze the wonderful mountain scenery and see the majestic flight of the condor in the Colca Canyon, considered the deepest canyon in the world. Early in the morning, you will leave Arequipa via Yura along the Chachani mountain skirts, Pampa de Arrieros, Pampa Cañahuas National Reserve where you will see some vicuñas. We will continue to Vizcachani and Pampas de Toccra, home to a large variety of birds. Once in Chivay recover your energy with a delicious lunch and then enjoy the afternoon on your own. DAY 5: COLCA VALLEY/PUNO. Appreciate a beautiful Andean sunrise along the Colca Canyon towards the path that leads to Cruz del Condor (Condor´s Cross), a place offering the most spectacular landscapes of the entire canyon,
here you can see the elegant flight of these huge birds whose wings extend up to 3 meters; admire its majestic flight and get an excellent view of the Colca Canyon, a unique opportunity to take great pictures. DAY 6: PUNO/TITICACA LAKE/PUNO. Sail the waters of Lake Titicaca. Early in the morning, you will start an excursion to the highest lake in the world (12,500 feet). The tour includes a visit to Uros Island where you can go by comfortable motorboats. Uros is part of Aymara ethnic family of islands that live on artificial islands made of Totora (floating reed). From here you can reach Taquile Island, gifted with several hills and harboring archaeological sites, the island’s main activity are textiles (manual work of art) representing scenes of everyday life. DAY 7: PUNO/CUSCO – THE ROUTE OF THE SUN Embark on a comfortable tour bus and go through beautiful Andean landscapes up to the city of Cusco. On the way, you will see several touristic attractions such as Pukara, the first stop in route to Cuzco. In Pukara you can take a guided tour of the Museum that holds the remains of many archeological figures of Andean times. We will also go through La Raya, the highest point in the entire tour (14,223 ft.). Here you can enjoy few minutes to admire the landscape and take some amazing photos before continuing. The bus will stop for lunch at Sicuani village, where you will then continue the tour to the archeological center of Raqch’i, an enormous building made in honor of Wiracocha God, finally, you´ll arrive at Saint Peter Church of Andahuaylillas, also known as the Sistine Chapel of America. DAY 10: SORAYPAMPA / PASO SALKANTAY / CHALLWAY (9 HRS) In the morning we continue our tour, walking through the Andean highlands until we reach the highest point of our tour, El Paso de Salkantay (The walk of Salkantay) at 4600 m.a.s.l., then we begin to descend to our next campsite called Challway (3000 masl), in our travels we will walk through tropical lush and humid forests where we can observe the amazing biodiversity of this area. DAY 11: CHALLWAY / WIÑAYPOCO / LUCMABAMBA (6 HRS) We continue our hike through the tropical, whimsical and cloud forest to the lowest part of our tour. Take note that throughout the day the heat will be our constant companion as well as the uncomfortable mosquitos typical of this area, however, all this will be compensated by experiencing the tranquility of this place decorated with beautiful orchids, and bromeliads etc. We go through the town of Wiñaypoco (2650 masl) and arrive at the beach (2100 masl) where we will spend a cold night typical of this area. DAY 12: LUCMABAMBA / LLACTAPATA / AGUAS CALIENTES (6 HRS) On this day the vegetation, the mosquitos, and the heat remain our constant companions in this tour. We will walk until we reach the Archeological complex of Llactapata (2650 masl), from where it is possible to see the mystical Machu Picchu mountain, after we continue to descend to the depths of the valley, to the shore of the Urubamba river, until we reach Hidroeléctrica (1950 masl), where we board the train in route to Aguas Calientes (250 masl). Prepare your camera to take amazing pictures of the biodiversity in this area and the famous Candelabro de Paracas (Paracas Chandelier) which is part of the Nazca Lines.
