Project NO.1 Biological design

Redesign of Vestigial Organs This is an organ enhancement project. Inspired by the bionics of living creatures, I redesigned some of the "useless organs" of the human body, giving it new functions, forms, and ways of existence. In the future, human beings will adapt to changes in the earth's future environment through evolution. Stephen McGann said, "A new life is a new future." Beginning with the enhancement of organs, I aim to create a new life for humanity and a new future for the current world order.

3 ABOUT THE FUTURE:

BACKGROUND INSPIRATION: 1

"What will the future of mankind be like?"

ORIGIN: A couple of nights ago, I had a sudden acute appendicitis. The doctor suggested removing the appendix. The uselessness of the appendix is the common conception of modern people, and the removal of the appendix is a common minimally invasive surgery.

I started thinking about the meaning and value of these organs as my appendix burst.

Ian Johnson, the Secretary-General of the Club of Rome -- the world's first society for futures studies, said: "In forty years the population will rise to 7 billion to 9.5 billion, which will lead to increasing demand for energy, land, water, and food. Forty years later, there is no doubt that the development of the world has surpassed and will continue to exceed the limit that the earth can withstand. The result is the multiple crises facing humanity." Geological isaster

However, there are also some useless organs in our human body. Darwin described them as "useless, or nearly useless, and consequently no longer subject to natural selection." Could these "useless organs" be reused to create new value?

Conlusion:

Since ancient times, nature has been the source of various technological ideas, engineering principles, and significant inventions. A wide variety of living beings have undergone a long-term evolution to adapt to changes in the environment so as to survive and develop. Therefore, I decided to use bionics as my inspiration to redesign and transform some of the "useless organs" of the human body, giving it new functions, forms, and ways of existence. I hope that in the future, human beings will adapt to changes in the environment through evolution, creating new lives and a new future for the current world order.

RESEARCH animal organs:

My research began on the role of vital organs in animals in response to different situations.

New food

they have a strong network to deliver food. They can always find the best route that consumes the least energy to get the most food.

2 Bio-assisted alimentary canal (appendix): It is an enhanced digestive device that redesigns the appendix. First, in the future, due to environmental pollution, food quality will decline. So it can help people to filter the sand and harmful substances in the food. Second, in the extreme case of food shortage, it can help the body maximize the absorption of nutrients through absorption and digestion.

I selected some useless organs, redesigned and remodelled their functions and shapes.

1 Biodefense Mask (Sinus): It is an enhanced defence device that uses sinuses to control super slime mould to resist injury to the human face. We can cultivate a strong super slime mould through genetic technology, which acts as an "external organ" in the human body and forms a mutually beneficial symbiotic relationship with the human body. Under normal, circumstances,

1

First, it absorbs the moisture, nutrients, and sand in the air through a filter and filters out viruses, harmful metals.

2

Food that reaches into the alimentary canal be stored in the gizzard first, and sand is used to grind and digest them.

3

With the help of intestinal peristalsis, bacterial decomposition, and sand, the human body can maximize the absorption of food and water.

4

Finally, bacteria and fungi decompose the remaining sand in the alimentary canal to prevent blockage.

the mask is invisible and skin-friendly as a whole, and the super slime mould can grow in the moist, dark sinuses.

When people are in danger and start hyperventilating,

ARMADILLO GIRDLED LIZARDS (When in danger) they have a powerful defence system against danger. When they are in danger, they will curl their head and tail into a ball to protect their soft abdomen.

the super slime mould will grow quickly to prevent the eyes, nose, ears from entering the dust and germs and resist external damage.

outcomes Comfortable and skin friendly is what I finally want to achieve. I will also continue to wait for the emergence of new materials and new technologies to make my works more perfect.

Attract ants to the "stage" from the landscape installation with pheromones.

4

Accumulate points after ants trigger the sensors. The influence is further spread during the communication among ants.

PROJECT 3 ART INSTALLATION

BACKGROUND • STARTING POINT MY EXPERIENCE In March 2019, three burglaries were committed in my home. Since then, we locked the windows and doors all year round, installed monitors, burglar alarms, and bolts at each door, with wooden sticks always under the bed. Two years later, my grandma still had to unlock four doors when washing clothes.

MY UNCLE'S EXPERIENCE In 2005, a burglary was committed in my uncle's home. Three burglars broke into my uncle's home and got away with valuable possessions after rifling through their home. However, they have always been under the shadow of burglary because the burglars are still at large even today.

• INTENTION

Burglaries will cause not only property loss but also spiritual injury. My families rarely mention these experiences, but sufferings from burglaries in their hearts have changed their lives and mentality like a scar. As a result, we lost the sense of security and belonging to our homes. Therefore, I decided to explore the lack of sense of space security after burglaries and the psychological status of people having experienced related traumas.

HOMELESS SOCIALITY, PSYCHOLOGY , PUBLICNESS , PRIVATENESS I started this project based on the burglary and robbery that my family had experienced. Home is supposed to be a place of safety and warmth, but people who experience burglaries lose the sense of security of home. Therefore, I began to explore the lack of spatial security of people who had experienced such trauma and used dynamic videos to record and show the lack of security of victims and society's indifference. Victims read impenetrable legal documents, just like ordinary people have trouble standing up for themselves.

• SECURITY THEORY " For a period of time after the theft, I will check it every time I go home."

Home should have been synonymous with security and warmth, but people who have experienced burglaries have lost their sense of security. Though burglaries seem to be far away from our life, the burglary cases are in a large amount. Due to the difficulty in tracking, the lack of police force, and insufficient social attention, burglaries have become an important problems affecting people's livelihood.

• INSTALLATION

• MOVING IMAGE 1. I decided to make videos with the black background and light-coloured clothes after comparing the effects by projecting the interview video collected on the Internet on the grey cloth made from cotton fibre and ramie fibre.

2. I made a special cloth of special translucency, so that I can project different contents on both sides of the cloth. 3.I recruited two victims on the network platform. I interviewed the victims and asked two questions: "What is your experience of burglary?" "How does this affect you?" 4.As the text that can best demonstrate the views of society and the public, legal documents describe the cases most objectively. However, the contents of the documents are difficult to understand, and some cases are even absurd. 1.I decided to select soft cloth to express the broken and ethereal state of the space. At last, I chose grey cloth made from cotton fibre and ramie fibre after comparing six kinds of materials.

2.I cut the cloth and shaped it into doors and windows because they are the most common entrance of breakin in burglary cases and the boundary between home and the outside world.

(Objectiveness, publicness, and society) Outside the installation is a public space.

(Subjectivity, privateness, and self) As a private and personal space, the installation symbolizes "home".

The victims read the legal documents from the perspective of bystanders to present the most objective views of society and the public on such events. And the obscure and unreadable legal documents symbolize our rights that are difficult to safeguard.

they would put on headphones to listen to the victims' statements inside the installation.

The victims told their stories and feelings from their perspective to reveal the inner monologue of the victims. As a result, the viewers could "listen to" what the victims "spoke out" with their voices.

Viewers would listen to and watch the videos where victims read legal documents outside the installation first.

PROJECT 4

UI Design - 3D Animation Under the control and intervention of capitalism, science and technology is no longer simply a neutral tool but a puppet to lure and take from people. Therefore, I designed an App to convert this monitoring into a tool and add it into the algorithm system to make data monitoring highly transparent. Users can take back their rights to choose and control by using "modify" and "delete" options and return to the free growth state that is not corrupted by surveillance capitalism.

SURVEILLANCE CAPITALISM POSTHUMANISM

BACKGROUND 1.STARTING POINT

Last year, I created a short 3D animation called The Intelligence Agent. I personified the phone in the story of how it took candid pictures and recorded around the room to get critical intelligence and sent it to the Intelligence Analysis Center and finally received advertising calls.

2.SURVEILLANCE CAPITALISM Ironically, through "you maybe interested" pushes, I watched the documentary Surveillance Capitalism: The Intelligence Trap and Shoshana Zubov's The Age of Surveillance Capitalism: The Fight for a Human Future at the New Frontier of Power.

STEPS

1

(Extracting information) Transform private human experiences as free raw material into behavioural data.

2

(Computational model) Calculate and package the data for the predicted product.

3

(Sale forecast) Sell the predicted product to the futures market of behaviours.

4

(Behavioural intervention) Not satisfied with the status quo, began to interfere with people's behaviour and perception.

ATTENTION ECONOMY

ECHO CHAMBER EFFECT

"In Pokemon Go, the game uses Pokemon to direct players to specific pizzerias, ice cream stores, etc., to increase sales."

TOOLS

"We're seeing companies using powerful artificial intelligence to override our intelligence and observe how to attract our attention and make us see what they want us to see, rather than what's most in line with our own values, goals, and our own lives."

VULGAR HEDONISM Capitalists create cheap dazzling entertaining, and sensation-stimulating products that drown people in tittytainment without thinking.

Video:https://youtu.be/Qst0oRXlVTs

MONITORING AND REGULATION "What doesn't make sense is that there is no monitoring and regulation, rules, or competition. Companies act as the different departments of the government. Then they say, 'We can regulate ourselves.' It is surely a lie."

Under the control and intervention of capitalism, science and technology is no longer simply a neutral tool, but a puppet to lure and take from people. It puts algorithms above humans, impedes human's free development, forces you to become a single model of the algorithm's imagination, trade and interfere with people's perceptions.

OUTCOMES #0102ac

1. FUNCTION INTRODUCTION

2. REGISTER AND LOGThe basic functions of the App are shown and introduced in slides: multi-platform monitoring, customised time, and data modification label.

5.TIME SETTINGS 6.DATA MODIFICATION

Set different monitoring times for different platforms, allowing users to define monitoring as they wish.

According to the browsing information of different platforms, different digital prototypes are generated, and real-time changes are made according to time, events, and hot topics. Users can choose to delete or modify the labels given to them by the platform and send them to the platform to get rid of the algorithm's single understanding of people and take over the right to choose.

-IN

From the launch screen to the login page, you can use the mobile phone number of the device to register an account.

3. LICENSE AGREEMENT

Sign an agreement with the users to let them know exactly what the App does and what data it will use, and allow them to turn on or off the monitoring rights of the App associated with the phone.

4. HOMEPAGE

It provides thumbnail information and entry for personal information, APP Settings, data modification, time settings, and summary reports.

7.SUMMARY REPORT There are real-time data reports and periodic summary reports for users to clearly read their browsing information, interest, and consumption data.

sketch

TEAM PROJECT-VR SOCIAL TYPE, REFLECTION

The theme of the VR scene is a surrogate factory. We abstract the symbols for the womb of the surrogate mother, DNA, and so on. The scene is divided into three segments: baby factory, pregnant hall, and abandoned baby museum. When entering the baby factory, the experimenter can select the sex, skin color, weight, etc. of the surrogate baby he/she wants, and the system will prompt the amount of the selected items like a shopping cart. The second scene is the pregnant hall, where the women are dressed in the same clothes and dressed as like two peas to be managed in a standardized way. The third scene is the abandoned baby museum, where the surrogate babies abandoned for various reasons are located. They are left as specimens in the surrogate factory forever because some of them do not meet the buyer's standards for skin color, and some of them get physical diseases.

After experiencing the last scene, the system will show the choice made by the experimenter in the first scene and ask the experimenter whether to continue the payment. After the experience, it will lead the experimenter to think about: The parts I undertake are topic selection, investigation, vision, baby factory scene, storyline, UI design.
