Olivia knows that you must wash your hands before you eat. But when she's really hungry, or it's time for her favorite meal, she usually forgets. If it's a hamburger, she doesn't forget to wash her hands sometimes: she forgets most of the time.
In fact, nearly all the time. OK; if it's a hamburger, Olivia always forgets to wash her hands. Who hasn't forgotten to wash their hands sometimes?
When Olivia’s mom notices, she says: "You know that there are bacteria on your hands, and you've got to wash them really well!" Then they go to the bathroom together and sing this song:
"Wash, wash, wash your hands,"
“Wash them every day, Wash them up and wash them down, wash the germs away!”
When Olivia eats chocolate ice cream, sometimes it drips on her pants. Plip, plop. Well, not sometimes—nearly always. OK, not nearly always— every time Olivia eats chocolate ice cream, her pants end up looking like a . . .

Luckily, Mom doesn't get angry: she just helps Olivia clean up, and says, "Don't worry, Olivia. As you get older, you'll learn to stay clean." And then they sing together:
“Next time I eat my ice cream My pants are staying nice and clean!”
And if Olivia still feels upset, Mom adds:
“Not to worry, we'll wash that mess, And soon we'll have you looking your best!”
Olivia doesn’t have very good table manners. Fortunately, her mom is very patient, and encourages her to try again, with songs and plenty of good humor.
