MUSIC AT CULFORD Individual Music Lessons Why have individual music lessons? Despite being an enjoyable experience in itself it has been proven that there are numerous benefits to learning a musical instrument, such as: improves academic skills; develops physical skills; cultivates social skills; refines discipline and patience; boosts self-esteem; develops the appreciation of other cultures. What Instruments are available to learn? We have an excellent team of teachers who offer tuition in the following disciplines; violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, cornet, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, tube, drum-kit, acoustic and electric, singing, piano, organ. Cost The fee per half-hour session is ÂŁ22 which will be charged to your account at the end of each term. This means that the fees for music lessons will appear on the bill the term after the lessons have been given. 30 lessons are normally taught during the academic year. It is sometimes possible to offer shared lessons in certain instruments at a cost of ÂŁ11 per half hour. Instruments We have a large stock of instruments available for hire at a very competitive rate, currently ÂŁ20 per term. Alternatively, instruments can be bought and hired from John Balaam,. www.balaamsmusic.org.uk When are lessons taught? In years up to and including the Lower Fifth lessons are rotated throughout the school day. In the Upper Fifth and Sixth Form lessons are fixed outside academic lessons. If you wish your child to have individual music lessons, please request a permission form from The Music Administrator: heidi.stubbings@culford.co.uk
