David Start takes a look at some of the better known abbey ruins in our county to see what secrets they might still hold.

Ayscoughfee Hall Museum & Gardens

Built in the 1450s, many of Ayscoughfee Hall’s owners have left their mark on the building. The result is that a visit to Ayscoughfee is a chance to experience different architectural styles and features from the Medieval to the Victorian. A visit is an opportunity to come face to face with some of the people that lived there. Come and discover what their lives were like. The Museum also tells the story of the historic town of Spalding and the surrounding Fenlands. The Hall is set in five acres of beautiful gardens, which feature a listed War Memorial by the celebrated architect Sir Edwin Lutyens, a childrens play area and a café, adding up to a fabulous day out.
