Going green is not only in honor of Saint Patrick’s Day, held on March 17th, but also to celebrate some of the great occurrences of March such as the establishment of the Peace Corps in 1961 by President John F. Kennedy, the births of Italian explorer Amerigo Vespucci in 1451, the German genius Albert Einstein in 1879 and the Hungarian magician Harry Houdini and the independence of the Philippines in 1934. ne of Macau’s most widely practiced religious events, The Procession of the Passion of Our Lord is and annual parade in which a large depiction of Jesus is carried throughout the city center. Often referred to as “The Big Jesus”, the procession takes place just before the season of lent and is seen as a significant aspect of Macau culture having taken place in the SAR since the 16th century. Running over the weekend of the 8th and 9th of March this year, the parade is a reenactment of Jesus’ suffering as he carried his cross to his crucifixion and commences with a mass in the early evening (around 7pm) at St. Augustine’s Church. The relic is then lifted by ten priests and carried out to embark on a silent vigil-like parade. The parade walks the statue through a number of prominent sites in Macau such as Calçada do Tronco Velho, Senado Square and finally the Macau Cathedral where practices are paused for the evening. The parade is resumed the following afternoon at the Macau Cathedral. The next day sees participants follow the relic through seven stations: Macau Cathedral, St. Dominic’s Church, the Portuguese Consulate, St. Francis Garden, Nam Van Lakefront, St. Lawrence’s Church; ending at St. Augustine’s Church. At each station a short ritual is performed, taking inspiration from the story of Saint Veronica –who wiped Jesus’ face and later saw it in her veil. A young girl representing Saint Veronica sings a phrase from the bible to which the crowd responds. The second day is often thought of as a way of suffering alongside Jesus as he carries his cross to his crucifixion.

年一次的苦难耶稣圣像游行是澳门最重要的宗教活动之一。在游行过程中人们将抬着一个大耶稣圣像，穿过城市的中心地带。这次活动也被称为“大耶稣”活动，通常在四月的斋祭前举行。自16世纪以来，已经成为澳门文化的一个重要组成部分。今年游行的时间是3月8号和9号的周末，再现耶稣背负十字架去往受难地的痛苦历程。大批民众于傍晚时分（7点左右）在圣奥斯定教堂集合。然后十名牧师抬着圣像，带领民众开始一场安静的夜晚游行。人们将随着圣像走过澳门的多个著名景点，如东方斜巷和议事亭前地，然后抵达澳门主教座堂，当晚的游行暂告结束。第二天傍晚，游行将从澳门大教堂继续进行。队伍将跟随圣像经过七个地点：澳门大教堂、圣多安尼教堂、葡萄牙领事馆、加思栏花园、南湾湖、圣老楞左大教堂，最终在圣奥斯定教堂结束。每经过一个地点都会举行一个小规模仪式，该活动是受圣薇诺妮卡故事所启发，这位圣徒用面巾拂过耶稣的脸，面巾上后来就显现出了耶稣的脸孔。一个年轻女孩扮演圣薇诺妮卡演唱一首圣经歌曲，人群予以热烈的回应。第二天游行的目的，主要是为了感受耶稣背负十字架走向受难地所遭受的苦痛。

吃在澳门 Dine At home away from home “I’ve been doing different jobs in Macau before I started doing anything in the health business,” says Katya - standing in her kitchen, an arrangement of nut filled jars and health books lining the shelves behind her. She prepares a raw food salad while explaining: “I’ve worked in a casino, a travel agency but now I’m finally doing something I’m [passionate] about”. “I was always interested in [this]” says Katya, her enthusiasm for holistic health and wellness readily apparent through her manner. Moving to Macau from her native Russia five years ago Katya submerged herself in her journey when she began noticing a decline in her own physical and emotional state and decided to make a change. “I started noticing [that] I wasn’t feeling well,” she says, “like I wasn’t at my full potential.” A combination of research and self-analysis eventually led her to pursue certification in nutrition and health – leading to the establishment of her wellness website: www.livelovehealthy.com in 2013.

The raw food movement The raw food diet came into existence in the late 1800’s when Maximilian Bircher-Benner - a Swiss medical doctor also credited for the invention of muesli - ate a concentrated diet of raw apples and ended up curing himself of jaundice. Essentially the raw food movement (or raw foodism) refers to the practice of eating food in the form closest possible to its natural state. “It’s food that hasn’t been processed,” says da Maia, “food that hasn’t been overcooked, it’s food that hasn’t been affected by anything,” she stresses, pointing out that raw food is

one of the biggest elements of healthy eating. “For some people it’s a lifestyle,” Katya begins - taking a bite of her homemade raw flaxseed crackers and sunflower dip. “There are people in the raw food communities that don’t ever eat anything cooked,” she says, “but the way I look at raw food is it is one of the really good tools to balance out your wellness, how to balance out your health.” Since its conception there has been a lot of speculation on the boundaries of the raw food diet, it is often assumed raw foodists are expected to give up animal byproducts but according to Katya this is a misconception. She explains saying: “in the global movement it is mainly Vegan but there is obviously raw foods such as Japanese sashimi and Carpaccio,” she continues with obvious passion, “the idea is to bring more raw food into your diet. It doesn’t need to be one hundred percent; it just has to be a little bit more. Fresh fruits, such as apples, or a side salad: this is raw food - even if you eat it with a steak.” She finishes by saying: “you don’t have to put a label on yourself and say ‘Oh I’m a raw foodist’, you don’t have to put any restrictions on yourself. ” A fascinating cuisine, given enough time and creativity raw foodism can result in some great culinary endeavors besides the obvious salad. Incorporating vast amounts of raw fruits and vegetables Katya expresses her perception that raw foodists in the hub of Asia have a major advantage. “We are very lucky,” she explains, “if you go to the wet markets in Macau you will be amazed at how much fresh local produce is there.” A firm believer and living proof of the diet’s merits Katya explains: “one of the biggest benefits of raw food is that your skin gets better and also gives you way more energy than a regular diet.” Broaching on the cons of the diet she mentions, “sometimes it can be a little bit pricey, but you have to keep in mind – in the raw community we say we’d rather pay a little bit more for our food than for our doctors because it really affects your life and your health.” Various studies conducted over the years have proven that cooked or processed foods contain higher levels of sugar, cancer-causing cells, toxins, coloring agents and flavor enhancers - all of which affect the human body negatively.

Aside from being a platform for conducting her holistic health and wellness coaching, Katya’s website features a blog section that sheds light on the intricacies of the raw vegan diet. Offering recipes and other “hacks” to tackle the raw foodist lifestyle. Try out a raw food recipe yourself! 自己动手，制作美味生食！ Raw Vegan Mayonnaise Ingredients: 1 cup soaked cashews (soak around 6hr or overnight) 1/2 cup water 1/2 tsp mustard 1/2 tsp high mineral salt 3 tbs lemon juice 3 tbs coconut flower sugar 1/2 cup olive oil Pinch cayenne pepper Small clove of garlic How to: Blend all ingredients except the oil on high until creamy. Then lower the speed and slowly add oil; transfer contents to airtight container and store in fridge. Mayo will keep for around five to seven days. 生食蔬菜蛋黄酱配料： 1杯泡软的腰果（在水中浸泡6小时或一夜） 1/2杯水 1/2茶匙芥末 1/2茶匙高矿物质含量食盐 3汤匙柠檬汁 3汤匙椰子花糖 1/2杯橄榄油少许辣椒粉一小瓣蒜制作方法：将所有原料放在搅拌机中（橄榄油除外），用高速打制糊状。然后将速度调低，缓慢加入橄榄油。将搅拌好的原料倒入一个密封容器，存放在冰箱中。这一般会将其放置5-7天后食用。

嫩滑豆花李康记

“有麝自然香” 这句用在李康记豆腐花身上绝不为过。李康记隐藏在小巷里，只是凭着一碗嫩滑豆花，屹立不倒六十多年。可想而知，它的魅力到底有多大。李康记由李康先生创立，当时创立了颐德行(即李康记豆腐花现址)，颐德行最初只是一家粮油杂货店，为帮补家计李康先生决定售卖豆腐花。这里有路过买砖豆腐回家煮饭的家庭主妇、有吃了二十多年的熟客、有特地按图索骥来吃豆腐花的游客……李康记豆腐花成为不少人的“集体回忆”。坚持是最厉害的武器。李康记坚持使用开店以来沿用至今的加拿大黄豆，即使成本较高，但也从未转换过。李康记的豆腐花以嫩滑著称，每一口豆花用舌头轻推便溜进喉咙里，淡淡的黄豆香却依然残留在舌尖上。最特别的是李康记坚持用“花奶” 来搭配豆花，豆花加上“花奶”的香醇奶味，升华了豆花的香气，这是市面少有的吃法。再加上用韩国砂糖加姜一起熬煮的糖水，中和了黄豆是偏寒凉食物的特性，独特的搭配成就今天的李康记。制作豆花的过程看似简单，却讲究经验。首先，需要把黄豆浸泡数小时后打磨成浆，倒进大锅煮浆后隔渣，制成豆浆。而豆花便需要在豆浆的基础上“撞”入适量的凝固剂，这个“撞”的步骤，无论温度、份量或速度，都需要一定的经验，才能“撞”出如李康记般嫩滑的豆花。最后一桶桶的豆花被运到店面，用已“绝种” 的勺子加上不弄破豆花的技术，舀出一碗碗豆花再冷冻，这样能使豆花保存更久，不易变坏。李康记制作的每一碗豆花的每一个小细节，承载的是这六十多年来一丝不苟的精神。

Quality needs not advertise, which is why Lee Hong K E Tau Fu – an unimposing restaurant hidden down a quiet lane – has operated for over 60 years by producing only one dish: bean curd. Cguide finds out the secret behind its success. The founder of Lee Hong, Mr. Li Kang, originally ran a grocery named Firma U Tac Hong on the site of the current restaurant but moved in to bean curd for higher profit margins. This choice became a career that has spanned more than half a century and Kang has left his mark on the memories of both loyal customers of decades and incoming tourists and visitors – who come exclusively for his bean curd. Li’s success boils down to one thing: persistence. His stringent use of higher quality (and more expensive) soybeans from Canada guarantees the soft and smooth taste of his curd, with a lingering soy taste; a condition he’s followed since his first day of operation. Also Li’s variety of renditions of bean curd create different tastes for different customers such as the bean curd mixed with flavored milk – creating a mellower taste, bean curd with Korean sugar and ginger – healthy and perfect for colder days. The process for making bean curd is simple yet is one that requires years of experience to properly conduct – Mr. Li’s recipe is 60 years old. First, soak the soybeans in water for six to seven hours. Then grind the watersoaked soybeans into milk. Boil the milk and screen off the residue before you attempt to solidify the curd. Next incrementally add a solidifier (such as gelatin) as the milk slowly cools to achieve a delicate and tender texture. Make sure to use correct scoops when taking the curd out of the bucket in order to preserve the shape of the curd. Store the curd in bowls in a freezer until solid.

Therefore the repeat of the Wine and Dine Festival, initiated last year at The Venetian and organized by the Wine Society of Macau, comes as little surprise. Held over four days, the event gathers wine and food distributors and vendors, has tastings, wine classes, entertainment and (of course) lots to drink. Filipe Cunha Santos, President of The Wine Society of Macau, is happy to see wine taking a front row seat in Macau’s development. “Basically it [the festival] is a B2C [business to consumer] event, so it’s not really a B2B [business to business] like other MICE conferences here, so by doing this in conjunction with The Venetian the idea is to get some more attractions in terms of visitors but also [to fill] a sort of gap which is on the area of F&B [food and beverage] exhibitions in Macau,” he describes.

The four-day event will feature 12 different courses on wine, ranging from novice to expert and encompassing a variety of wine types. Pairing experiences, vinification techniques and master classes will also be available as a part of the Wine School. “The Festival’s ‘wine school’,” describes Director Bruno Simões of event co-organizer DOC DMC, “is dedicated to the general public. Anyone interested in wine will find a suitable topic. But learning about wine is like riding a bike.”

“For the local population,” describes Santos of local wine knowledge, “it’s quite high. I think because of the Portuguese influence there has been - for many years - wine, in particular even in the Chinese local restaurants downtown etc. For the visitors obviously the Hong Kong people are quite knowledgeable, and the mainland are on a very fast degree of education.” Given Macau’s unique positioning both geographically and historically, it’s little surprise that the SAR has become a mecca for those gravitating away from “liquors like cognac and Moutai into more soft drinks like wine,” describes Santos. However, even though strong links to Portugal exist, Portuguese wines might not be the major sellers this year. “Maybe the Australian and the other New World wines – because of the proximity and aggressiveness of the distributors here, they will benefit more than the Portuguese wines,” laments Filipe.

Why wine?

“Well it’s actually a question of culture and I’d say taste,” states Filipe. “I wouldn’t say that it’s genetic, but it’s obviously cultural.” This cultural trait has gathered together professionals, distributors, restaurant owners, food and beverage specialists and sommeliers as well as wine collectors and expatriate staff to join the Wine Society of Macau. MARKUS SCHULZ German born American DJ, musician and Producer Markus Schulz shows us what it’s all about at Club Cubic this month. The international Trance legend operates under a number of stage names such as Unicorn Slayer and Dakota. Zhang Yu, known by his stage name Zhang Boxiang, is a Taiwanese singer and 流派 Genre producer with a musical career stretching 流行、蓝调、民谣 back more than two decades. Winner of Pop, Blues, Folk the title of King of Sad Songs due to his involvement in All Good Intents over a decade ago, Zhang is author of one of the most popular karaoke songs in Chinese. His wife Xiao Huiwen (aka Shi Yilang) wrote lyrics with Zhang before his shift from musician to TV host of programs such as One Million Stars and Grand Slam – both of which were broadcast in Macau. Recently Zhang has moved on to the production of the theme song of Intention – a popular Chinese TV series, and the ENCORE Live Concert in Hong Kong with singers Chen Sheng and Huang Pinyuan in 2009. His role in I’m a Singer 2 is both as contestant and host.

Pop, R&B Deng Shiyun, known by her popular stage name GEM (meaning Get Everyone Moving) has been on the music scene since age 16. Author of four studio albums: G.E.M, 18… , MySecret and her most recent Xposed, the female singer has been praised across various internet circles. Born into a musical family in Shanghai - Deng’s mother was a vocal music graduate of the Shanghai Conservatory, her grandmother was a music teacher, her uncle was a violinist and her grandfather a saxophone player – she moved to Hong Kong at the age of four with her family and by age 13 had received the rank of eight in her piano competency courses. Known as a talent rarely seen in the Hong Kong music scene, the singer pushed herself on audiences with her wildly popular song A.I.N.Y. (love you) – an operatic song requiring a high level of talent and starting in May of 2011 G.E.M. presented ten shows in nine cities, including Macau. Her participation in I’m a Singer 2 is not her first competition as she performed in season one of the Foam – making her a huge celebrity in mainland China – ranked as the number one female singer searched for on Baidu, a search engine predominant in China.

British electropop band Metronomy brings us a set of all new iridescent tones off of their newest studio album: Love Letters. The album is the four-piece’s fourth studio album and is a follow up to The English Riviera, released in 2011. Love Letters is lead by single: I’m Aquarius. The track was released late last year and features the electronic pop experimental sound that is quickly becoming this band’s signature sound. The fourth posthumous release since Johnny Cash’s death in 2003, Out Among The Stars is a compilation of never before heard songs recorded in the 1980’s. Discovered by Cash’s son John Carter Cash in the Sony Music Archives, the tracks were apart of Cash’s lost album of the same name under Colombia Records. Carter Cash has been quoted saying that this collection of unheard songs is his father’s most beautiful works, recorded in Johnny Cash’s vocal prime. 这是自Johnny Cash2003年去世之后发行的第四张纪念专辑，收录了几首歌迷之前从未听到过的曲目，比如这首Out Among the Stars。这些作品录制于20世纪80年代。是Cash的儿子Carter Cash在索尼唱片公司的资料馆中发现的。Cash签约哥伦比亚公司期间，也曾录制过一张同名专辑，但后来不知为什么不了了之。这次听到的这几首歌也都出自那张专辑。据说，Carter Cash曾表示，这张从未发行曲目的专辑，是他父亲最优秀的作品，是 Johnny Cash当年嗓音处于最佳状态时录制的杰作。

十年前Bobbi Brown本着她对化妆的简约理念，推出了十支啡调唇膏，时至今日，Bobbi品牌足迹遍布 55个国家，全球拥有过千间店铺及品牌专柜，但她本人和品牌都极低调，好像在这个hard selling的世代对你说有麝自然香的道理。

彩妆缘 Bobbi于1957年生于美国芝加哥，母亲自幼是她妆艺生涯上的启蒙。Bobbi在访问中忆述：“年幼时我已很爱把玩母亲的化妆品，那时起我已爱上化妆。”1976 年，Bobbi入读波士顿的Emerson College修读舞台化妆，开始正式的专业训练。毕业后她前住纽约曼哈顿碰运气，起初并不是一帆风顺，经过了几年自由身化妆师生涯，凭着她的自然彩妆技巧，渐渐打响名堂。1983年第一次为13岁的美国著名女模特儿波姬小丝作杂志访问化妆，接着不计其数的荷里活明星、名模都点名要聘请Bobbi为其化妆师。

0 years have rolled by since Bobbi Brown’s ten lipsticks debut exposed the world to her minimalist concept of cosmetics. As the founder of Bobbi Brown Cosmetic - owning more than 1,000 stores and counters across 55 countries, she’s kept her products as low-toned as her personality - vivid proof of the old saying that the cream will always rise to the top.

Early days

Born in 1957, Bobbi was enthralled by her mother’s cosmetics from a very early age. “I fell in love with my mum’s little beauty things and developed a craving for makeup,” she explains. After graduating from Emerson College in Boston in 1976 with a degree in Theatrical Makeup, Bobbi went to Manhattan to seek an opportunity and build her network as a freelancer specializing in naturally styled makeup. After a series of ups and downs the entrepreneur became the go-to for Hollywood celebrities and supermodels that requested nobody but Bobbi. Much of this success was due to the visibility she gained after her successful work on Brooke Christa Shields, the 13-year old supermodel, for a photo shoot in 1983.

Bobbi’s minimalism

“The key of makeup is to be natural and modern because the real intention of ladies to get painted is to show the more beautiful self, not necessarily by heavy colors,” explains Brown of the brand concept: Clean, Fresh, Modern. Natural makeup is the core of her whole ideology - which puts applying foundation as the priority first step. Bobbi started a revolution by launching yellowbased foundation cream, concealer and powder which seamlessly melds with the skin color after her discovery of the fact that almost 90% of women have a yellowish skin - replacing the common practice of pink base in the field of cosmetics.

Unique Strategy

If given the choice of only one cosmetic Brown says that her option would have to be concealer – her first love and a seemingly colorless piece that’s the secret weapon of makeup artists worldwide. Basing upon her years of experience, Bobbi says that she found dark circles under the eyes are the reason for tired and dull looks, which cannot be changed by any fashionable color without proper treatment of the area first.

She wisely made the decision to launch professionallevel concealers designed for different skin colors as well as those for dark eye circles and concealer pencils for those with acne instead of following other brands who diversified and marketed eye shadow, lipsticks and blush. Unsurprisingly Bobbi’s exceptional vision led to incredible brand growth and an unconventional journey of success.

Eyebrows are the key

Other than cosmetics Bobbi Brown also provides two signature services for eyebrow trimming and makeup courses. “The very first step of presenting any style and outline is to trim clean cut and neat eyebrows,” she explains: “because they are the frame of the face and eyes, a secret to present[ing] a clear and vivid look.” The proof of this lies in the big names and famous beauties flooding through her door. Brown’s success and unique concept have been valued by Estee Lauder and raised her to the position of CCO (Chief Creative Officer) of her brand following the purchase in 1995 by the cosmetic giant. “My children and husband will always be the first priority in my busy life,” says Bobbi. In addition to her cosmetic role, Bobbi acts as the beauty editor of the Today Show, a beauty program on NBC and is a regular face on Oprah Winfrey’s talk show.

艺术家都有“艺术家脾气”，但这种脾气并不是坏脾气，而是一种忠于自己、随心所欲的个性。出生澳洲但如今已经是澳门艺术家中坚分子的马维斯(Denis Murrell)绝对是这么一位充满“艺术家脾气”的画家，他从来没有给自己限制，随心所欲地把颜色挥洒，创造出一幅幅充满灵魂的的佳作。

Artists generally demonstrate a profound interpretation of reality. Something that, when conveyed through a medium, results in a piece that we label as art and exists as an expression of self, circumstance and interpretation. Dennis Murrell, a wellknown Macau artist from Australia, has extensive experience in conveying these interpretations and is known for his liberal application of colors, resulting in masterpieces hailed across the SAR and abroad.

947年生于澳大利亚墨尔本郊区的马维斯，在巴布新矶内亚当了14 年的英语老师。25年前，马维斯选择扎根澳门，其后，除了不断创作外，还致力发展和推动澳门艺术。马维斯现于澳门天主教海星中学担任艺术顾问，还不时举办工作坊，教导小朋友如何用纸巾作画，已经有一定年纪的他笑着说，希望当有一天自己不存在时，能有人继续用这种方式去创作，便是他最大的欣慰了。马维斯的作品，在小小澳门相当受欢迎，也曾夺得奖项，如1995年第二届澳门艺术双年展西画组一等奖、第三届澳门艺术双年展二等奖及荣誉奖、2000年画作“Lunar Fantasy”更夺得华盛顿DC的“Forte 杯二十世界亚洲艺术赛”铜奖。早前，马维斯首次与“285号生活艺廊”合作，尝试跳出展览馆的框框，拼凑出不一样的“艺术”。马维斯的画，远看色彩鲜艳，却渗透出一种柔美；近看却有着一丝丝裂痕，是另一种刚强的表达。他擅长用不同材质的颜料如压克力颜料、水彩、广告颜料等拼凑出颜色丰富的画。有时把颜料吹开、有时让它随性地流动、有时准确地刻划其位置。而特别之处在于画作的底层，马维斯会把纸巾贴在画布上创作，形成一条条龟裂的纹路。这些纹路显得画作更立体，更有质感，感觉画中的颜色从画中跳脱出来一样。每一幅画都有着它们的灵魂，每一个人看见的都不尽相同。马维斯笑说有人曾告诉他，他看见一只龙虾在画中。画作犹如一首音乐，在每位听众的心里都诠释着不同的故事，这正是马维斯画作的奇妙之处。

orn in the suburbs of Melbourne in 1947, Denis had no contact with Macau until his move here 25 years ago, following a time as an English teacher in Papua New Guinea. Denis’ contributions to Macau have been many since his arrival, acting as a consultant in the Escola Católica Estrela do Mar and hosting painting workshops with children, among others. Striving to promote the development of the arts scene in Macau, this kind man in his 60s continues to produce his own work, only hoping that he will someday have successors to take up the reigns of his school of art. Macau has embraced Murrell’s talent, ranking him the winner of the Western Painting category in the Second Art Biennale of Macau and awarding him the second prize and the honorary award in the third Macau Biennale. His piece Lunar Fantasy also won the Bronze prize of the Forte 21st Century Competition of Asian Art. Murrell’s talent is not only limited to the brush as he also cooperated with the 285 Signum Living Store for the first time in an effort to bring art out of the boundaries of museums and to society, expressing itself in a different, open form. His works deliver the sense of morbidezza (delicacy) through bright colors, while simultaneously presenting a sense of firmness with some cracks. He is a master in different materials of paints using acrylic paint, watercolors and poster paint to piece together his works. As to the methods of creation, he often blows the paint on the canvas to achieve a free run of colors or, to the other extreme, restrain colors in a shape. You will find subtle cracks across the base when looking closely, created by painting on napkins stuck to the surface, a unique and powerful way of expressing his ideas more vividly and comprehensively. Every piece of art contains a spirit viewable through different eyes and each interpretation is the person’s own. 46

您从什么时候喜欢上画画? 有没有修读过艺术学校？从小便喜欢画画。我爸爸是一位屠夫，小时候我在他那些用来包肉出售的纸上画画，虽然设备简单，但画画是我最喜欢做的事。高中毕业后，我没有去读艺术学校，反而去了修读师范大学，最后就在巴布新矶内亚当了14年的英语老师，来到澳门也是一直在当老师。当初是什么原因促使你决定来到澳门发展的呢？之前我一直在墨尔本的语言学院任教，但很多时候一些老师常常问我一些他们应该要懂的问题，我便开始觉得厌倦，于是决定去一些亚洲城市旅行，因为以前在亚洲的学生有给我一本地址簿，我便去拜访他们。但是，我的地址簿在香港码头却被偷走了。我也不太记得为什么决定来澳门了，大概是我之前在1980年和1986就已经来这个地方了，我一直记得这是一个美好的地方。在您的作画生涯中，是不是有一些关于绘画的难忘回忆？在很多年前的一个展览完结后，我把我的画暂时寄放在老朋友的家。一年后，我的朋友染病，我去他家取回画作，在点算的时候，发现少了一幅，找遍了他家都找不回那幅画。一年后，我有一位曾在澳门大学任教的朋友要移民，他叫我们去他家看有没有家具可以搬走，我居然在他家发现我的那张消失的画。我问她怎么得来的，她说是一位老朋友给他的。当我问他能否取回画作时，他突然就哭着说她真的很爱这幅画，求我给她珍藏。我同意后，几个星期后她便带着我的画去了美国，其后我也没有跟她联络了。但在有一天的早上，我收到一封来自俄克拉荷马州西部一个小镇的电邮，那对夫妻叫Andarko。他们跟我说在二手市集发现了我的画，实在太喜欢于是在画上找到我的名字，在雅虎搜索我。他们很高兴的告诉我，只用了十美金买下我的画，然后一发图片给我看。是的，就是那幅相同的画，这一切都让我觉得很奇妙。

When did you start to enjoy art? Did you ever have any training in the area? I liked it since I was a kid. As my father was a butcher, I developed a habit of drawing on his wrapping paper [for the] meat; my favorite way of killing time since there was no fancy equipment. I did not go to art school, instead to a normal university and then spent the rest of my life in schoolrooms, including 14 years of teaching English in Papua New Guinea; and now I’m still a teacher in Macau. Why Macau? I had a position in a language school in Melbourne but got tired of those peers asking naive questions they should [have] solved long ago. I started travelling in Asian cities, visiting my students who left their addresses in my notebook - which was lost in the harbor of Hong Kong. I was not quite sure of why I came to the town. Maybe it was so beautiful in my memory because I was here before, during 1980 to 1986. Do you have any unforgettable memories of painting in your career? It was years ago - when I finished an exhibition - I left my exhibits to an old friend for temporary storage. But one piece was absent and nowhere to [be] found when I went to take the works back one year later because my friend was sick. Another year went by and a friend teaching in the University of Macau was immigrating to the U.S. [and] she [wanted] to give me any furniture I liked from her apartment. I was very surprised to find the lost painting at her place. She said it was a gift from an old friend and when I asked if I could take it back, she begged [to keep] it because she was very fond of it. How could I say no to her? Weeks later, she left with my painting and we lost contact afterward. But [one day] I received an email from a couple in a small town in western Oklahoma (U.S.A.) one morning years later, telling me they bought my painting at a flea market for only ten dollars, and sent me the mail to express the fondness of my work. I also saw the attached picture of it. It was exactly my painting. What an amazing circle. March 2014

Gregory Ku, Managing Director for Jones Lang LaSalle in Macau and well respected for his levelheaded views, believes that potential investors should first consider the negative aspects of buying here. Prices he believes are “very high, possibly at their peak”. Added to this, to cool the market and help protect the local residents from overseas speculators pushing prices up, the government has intervened by slapping an additional ten percent stamp duty tax on prices for non-residents. Further measures to discourage property ‘flipping’ also include the new punitive special tax charged if a property is sold within two years of buying. Add in that the down payments needed have also been regulated with banks requiring non-resident investors to put down at least half the purchase price - a substantial increase compared with five years ago when banks were less restricted, happily providing 7580 percent mortgages.

“Much of the mass residential buildings developed over the past few years are of poor design and poor quality, but still expensive,” cautions Ku. They may have impressive façades like One Grantai or convenient central Taipa locations like Nova City but at HKD 8,000 per square foot (f2), the poor interior workmanship simply doesn’t justify the price. Both properties started life in the HKD 4,000/ f2 range. Today they’re double that. Could they double yet again in five years? “Unlikely” says Ku. Investors will be more interested in the new builds like One Oasis in Coloane and, of course, by then Hengqin Island will have come into play.

住在澳门 STAY The mysterious island Hengqin Island sits across a small stretch of water from Taipa. It’s still in its early days but as the island becomes more mature, with its better town planning and additional supply of mass residential properties, it’s expected to play a crucial supporting role in housing. Imported labor servicing the existing Cotai hotels and casinos have taken up most of the reserve of older, cheaper, properties in Taipa whilst managerial expatriate staff and middle-class Macau residents occupy much of the mid to high-end properties. A growing shortage of homes particularly in Taipa (because of its proximity to jobs in Cotai) will become more acute as the new mega hotel-casino resorts start opening over the next four years and the estimated 40,000 or more imported laborers needed to staff them will start arriving. Ease of travel from Cotai across the Lotus Bridge and cheaper rents will draw imported labor to Hengqin, thereby freeing up stock in Taipa and easing the rental prices.

Looking up? But what does this all mean to the foreign investor? Well the knock-on effect of course is lower rental yields especially if the properties have been bought at peak prices. Even today “yields at two percent are hardly sexy”, shrugs Ku, but the capital gains are still there. And what of the positive side to the Macau story; is there one when it comes to investing in property? “One thing you can bet on,” says Ku, is that “with 10,000 hotel rooms under construction and all the infrastructure improvements planned”, in the next two to three years the volume of people (be they tourists, imported labor, expatriate management, etc.) will increase and “everything will go up”. There is still huge growth potential in Macau, “no other city in the world can tell this story,” describes Ku.

How do I do it? For those foreign investors wanting a piece of the Macau action, buying older low rise properties in quaint places such as the Old Taipa Village or on Macau-side’s lakes or World Heritage areas is an option and can be extremely lucrative. High density, high-rise living in Taipa is not for everyone and both a rent and sale premium can be charged for uniqueness and charm. But, as Ku points out, its not for the faint hearted as renovation will be a must; and finding a skilled, reliable builder in Macau these days is like finding a needle in a haystack, most have been lured into jobs on the Cotai construction sites. Ku still prefers Taipa as the safest bet. Being closest to Cotai and easily accessible to work at the resorts there, properties are easiest to rent. In the mid-term, with the chronic shortage of quality apartments for the growing influx of expatriate managerial-level staff and their families, if investors focus on one of the newer builds there will be little difficulty in getting a tenant. For an investment - keep it simple - advises Ku: “buy something new, lease it out, get some rental income.” 52

如何投资？对于想要分享澳门发展的海外投资者而言，不妨考虑在一些非热门地段，购买低楼层的旧房，比如氹仔旧城区，或者澳门临近海边的区域，或者世界遗产景点附近的区域，其回报率将会特别丰厚。而高密度、高楼层的氹仔生活并不适合所有人，这里虽然资源稀缺、环境优越，但是租赁和出售的成本也会比较高昂。但是正如Gregory所说的，这片地区并不适合投资风格保守的人，因为购买这里的房屋，必须要对其进行翻新，可澳门很难找到技术精湛、有信誉的工程队伍，大部分熟练工人都被招募到了金光大道的施工现场。但Gregory仍然认为，氹仔是最安全的选择。这里毗邻金光大道，去度假村上班非常方便，也很容易找到租客。从中期来看，随着越来越多的高层管理人员携其家眷来到澳门，这片地区的高品质公寓将长期处于供应紧张的状态。如果投资者购买较新的项目，找到租客将不费吹灰之力。对于投资而言，Gregory的建议是，越简单越好，那就是“购买一个新项目，租出去，获得租金收益。”

Macau Tower

Macau Maritime Museum

Offering a glimpse into Macau’s rich nautical history, the Macau Maritime Museum sits on the very site where Portuguese sailors were said to have first landed, a stone’s throw away from one of Macau’s famed cultural attraction – and this tour’s next stopthe A-Ma Temple. Keeping with the theme of the museum, the exterior is designed to appear like a ship anchored in the bay and is home to a number of interesting exhibits for adults and children alike. Scattered throughout the threestory structure, the museum’s exhibits are organized into three main topics: Macau as a fishing town, the introduction of the Portuguese to Macau, as well as the developments in nautical technology. A-Ma Temple

Macau’s Barra district is home to one of the city’s most significant heritage sites, the A-Ma Temple. The temple marks the site where Macau’s name was born, based upon the mispronunciation of the Chinese for “A-Ma Bay”. Originally built around 1480 A.D., the A-Ma temple is considered the oldest in Macau. The temple houses six main spaces laid out on the slope of Barra Hill, its entrance distinguished by two stone sentry lions and a large granite inscription at the Gate Pavilion. Dedicated to the Goddess of Seafarers, the temple features an array of elaborate prayer halls such as the hall of Benevolence and the hall of Guanyin. Other attractions within the complex include the engraved rocks displaying traditional Chinese poetry,a Wishing Wall, an area for burning spiral incense and a pavilion housing the largest statue of Tin Hou.

The Mandarin’s House

Built along Rua da Barra in the late 19th century, the Mandarin’s House was once the Macau residence of famed Chinese writer Zheng Guanying, the house was the place in which Zheng wrote his most noted piece Shengshi Weiyan (otherwise known as Words of Warning in Time of Prosperity). Following Zheng’s departure, the house served as a residence for over 300 tenants, a number that was beyond the capabilities of the structure, eventually causing it to decay. In 2001 the house was handed over to the Macau Government and has since undergone a great deal of renovation and restoration.Today the house is considered one of Macau’s most distinguished heritage sites and houses a small museum displaying the process of its preservation. Architecturally the house boasts both Eastern and Western elements, as seen in the traditional Guangdong entrance, the various shrines such as one dedicated to the earth god and one of many moon gates that lead through the compound.The Mandarin’s House also boasts an elaborate layout of courtyards, Wengchang Hall in which Zheng did most of his studying and the house’s two masters’ quarters; the Yu-Qing-Tang and Jishan mansions.

郑家大屋郑家大屋临近妈阁，坐落于龙头左巷，建于19世纪晚期，是中国著名文学家郑观应的故居。在这里，郑观应写出其最著名的作品《盛世危言》。如果你想自己的孩子增加更多文人气息，不妨带上他们一同前来怀古一番。郑观应家族离开后，这所房子陆续租给了300多位房客，变成“七十二家房客”的真实写照，但却超出了房子结构本身的承受能力，最终致其腐朽。2001年，郑家大屋移交给澳门政府，自此开始了大范围的改造和修复。今天，郑家大屋被认为是澳门最具特色的遗产地，并建有一个小的博物馆，展示了其维护过程。从建筑风格上来讲，郑家大屋融合了东西方的元素，这可在传统的广式入口略窥一二。如门廊内墙身上设有各式神龛，供奉着土地神等神灵，而门则是拱门。月洞门在郑家大屋随处可见。另外，郑家大屋还有设计精巧的庭院、文昌厅（郑观应主要在这里研读）和房子两位主人的住所，另有余庆堂和积善堂。

Dom Pedro V Theatre

The iconic green and white theatre sits atop a slope on Rua Central and is of neoclassical architecture. Built in 1860 by the local Portuguese community as tribute to then reigning king of Portugal: King Pedro V, the theatre was the very first European style theatre in China. It was the first theatre in Asia to stage a performance of Italian Composer Giacamo Puccini’s famed opera “Madame Butterfly” and to this day the theatre remains a pronounced heritage site within the local community. The theatre is an elegant venue with its red velvet curtains and chandeliers. Its 300 person seating capacity has made it the premier host for several significant events, performances and celebrations in addition to having served as a recording venue for various international musicians.

Whilst this treat can be found throughout the various cafes in Macau, there are a handful of local eateries that stand out as the best. Located in the alleyways of central Macau is the award winning restaurant Margaret’s Café e Nata. Whilst it’s exterior is rather muted you can rest assured that the egg tarts are just about the best in town. Feast on the sweet egg custard filling and a flaky pastry shell, or if you feel like something a little different a range of other breads and sandwiches are available.

acau’s tea trade dates back to as far as the 17th century and was considered to have played a significant role in Chinese tea trade and customs to expand into the western world - moving beyond Europe and the Americas, ultimately birthing a new global tea culture. Sitting adjacent to the Lou Lim Ieoc Garden Pavillion, an area that was once known as Yuyuan, The Tea Culture House offers visitors the unique opportunity to submerge themselves in the abundance of cultural heritage related to tea in a variety of forms such as poetry, drawings, tea art, tea restaurants, tea shops, tea societies, tea houses, tea booths, and tea customs. A number of tea ware pieces are also on display, such as a blue and white porcelain teapot with a gold over glaze from the Qing Qianlong period. Following a redesign by renowned local architect Carlos Marreiros, the building’s exterior took on a culturally fitting east-meets-west design. The Tea House now features a largely European structural motif but maintains its Eastern influences as seen in the Chinese tiled roof and the surrounding gardens. Managed by the Macao Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau, the Macau Tea Culture Museum houses a number of short and long term exhibitions shedding light on eastern, western and the global tea cultures. Various events and activities such as tea ceremonies and tastings are also held at the Tea House in the hope that this will further the experiences of visitors and enhance their understanding its development throughout the years.

老陈澳门知名美食家你对澳门最美好的记忆是什么? 昔日悠闲又简朴的食店，价钱便宜，水平又高，尤其廿多年前的云吞面，云吞有肥膏的爽滑与甘香，亦有猪肉的甜味，更有虾的鲜味，加上大地鱼汤的鲜甜味，是最美好的记忆，如今已吃不到如此水平。

你认为澳门哪里的景色最美? 从主教山上望向西环湖、旅游塔及西环大桥，组合成的景色很美。

平时你喜欢到哪喝东西? 小店的话，喜欢到“新鸿发”喝冻奶茶，热奶茶则是“Maquette”。要是喝咖啡，最喜欢“Single Origin”的出品。跟朋友闲坐聊天的话澳门君悦酒店的会是我心头好，为的不是饮品，而是饼房的出品，多种Pastry及Canelé都很有水平，牛扒三文治亦佳。

你最喜欢哪家餐馆? 太多了！法国菜我最爱御膳房，日本会席料理则是“山里”，午餐想吃刺身必定选“新故里”，吃牛扒则是“The Kitchen”，葡国菜我同时喜欢“Guincho a Galera”及“新海湾”(A Baía)。

你喜欢到澳门哪里购物? 平时喜欢到外国的网站购物，如果在澳门买，会偏爱澳门威尼斯人大运河购物中心，因为较多品牌选择。另外还有“C Shop”，因有不少坊间鲜见的好牌子，且不时有澳门品牌及设计师的作品，值得支持。

你认为澳门哪里最合适约会? 西湾湖广场沿着西湾湖边可望见主教山的地

你认为哪里最适合拍照? 澳门有二十五个历史城区被列为世界遗产，没有比这二十五个地方更适合拍照了。

哪里能给人真正的澳门的体验?为什么? 往游客不会去的地方最好，例如钻进“红街市”逛逛，再到附近的“好到底” 吃切鸡背饭，并往“台山街市小贩区”吃茶果汤、咋喳、甜及咸的茶果、马蹄糕及猪脚姜，可以从地道食品感受到真正的澳门人生活。

你得到的最佳人生寄语是什么? 我不知算不算是人生寄语，但我深信“Never too late”这句话，因为凡做任何事，我都觉得“有心不怕迟”。

ld Chan is a popular food critic known throughout Macau and Hong Kong. His pursuit of cuisine has led him across the world in search of special and delicious food – including over 600 local restaurants. As a columnist for Macau Daily and CyberCTM. com, as host of Old Chan World of Food on television and author of Taste Around Japan by Old Chan, Chan has discovered dishes we can only dream of.

What’s your best memory of Macau? The casual and simple snack bars of the old days when you could be treated with great food, especially the Wonton Noodle I enjoyed two decades ago in which the wonton contained authentic pork and the shrimp were so delicious; not to mention the fresh fish soup. Such a great memory of taste but it may be hard to re-experience it any more.

Where in Macau do you find the most beautiful scenery? The combined scene of the Sai Wan Lake, the Macau Tower and Sai Wan Bridge - viewed from the Colina da Penha - is really amazing.

Where do you like to have a drink? I would prefer Xin Hong Fa - a small shop for a cup of cold milk tea or a Maquetee, a hot milk tea. As to coffee, Single Origin is my favorite. As for a fancy place for meeting, it would be the Lobby Lounge of the Grand Hyatt. Not just for the drinks but the desserts such as all kinds of pastries and Canelé. I also suggest the steak sandwich.

Where is your favorite restaurant? Oh you name it! I would visit the Tasting Room for French cuisine, Yamazato for Japanese food, New Hometown for sashimi and the Kitchen for steak. For genuine Portuguese dishes: Guincho a Galera and A Baía would be the best choices.

Where do you like to shop? I prefer shopping online for a no-boundary buying experience. In Macau, I would visit the Shoppes at the Grand Canal at the Venetian Macau for a wide range of brand choices. I specially suggest the C Shop where many great brands seldom found in other shops exist, including local brands and designers’ works that deserve more support.

Where is the best place to go for a date? The track around the Sai Wan Lake at the Sai Wan Plaza with the Colina da Penha in your view.

Where in Macau do you like to take pictures? There are 25 UNESCO World Heritages in Macau, the best sites to take pictures.

Where is the best place to go for a real Macau experience? Opposite to the hot tourist sites, sites with fewer tourists offer better experiences for you. Such as Shopping at the Red Market, then enjoying the Chicken Rice at Hao Dao Di restaurant. Next maybe enjoy local snacks from peddlers at the Toi San Market such as the fruit tea, grains congee, sweet or salt-flavored rice cakes, water chestnut cake or the flavored gingers. Food would be the best thing to reflect the living in Macau.

What is the best piece of advice given to you? Never too late. Not sure if it could be a kind of advice, but I just believe as long as you start something you really dream of, it is the right timing.

Lou Kau Mansion

Sir Robert Ho Tung Library

Originally built in 1894, this was the residence of Dona Carolina Cunha. Leal Senado Building

In 1784, the Leal Senado Building was built to serve as Macau’s municipal office. Decorated in a southern European architectural style, it houses a library on the 1st floor, with thousands of foreign texts dating back to the 17th century. 澳门幼狮剑击俱乐部是本地一家有逾十年历史的剑击教学中心，致力培养儿童及青少年运动员，希望使本澳小孩子可以有更多的正常体育运动，提高儿童青少年的自主及自我思考能力，发扬以礼待人，以技服人的剑侠精神，同时也为澳门剑击运动提供大量优秀的新力军。幼狮剑击俱乐部如今的常规儿童及青少年学员超过50人，最小的学员只有4岁。杨慕寰(Ieong Mou Wan)总教练表示剑击与其他运动相比，具有动作迅速、行动敏捷、技术变化莫测等特点，有助训练儿童的集中力及个人纪律，增强个人自信心，而且它非常安全，有一套整齐安全的装备，所以越来越多家长选择让孩子们接触剑击运动。俱乐部举办的儿童剑击课程会教授基本步法、剑术、剑击规则、攻击及防守意识，每个星期进行1.5小时的训练，让孩子们可以循序渐进地掌握这项有趣的体育运动。

Quick on their feet With over ten years as a teaching center for fencing, CUB is dedicated to cultivating the appreciation of the sport within local children. With aims to help children improve independent thinking, courtesy and verbal persuasion – it’s not what you would normally expect from a club that encourages poking each other with metal objects. Currently it welcomes over 50 children and youth learners, the youngest of which is only four years old. Head trainer Ieong Mou Wan preaches the benefits of the sport and says that fencing is helpful in training both children’s powers of concentration and personal discipline as well as improving their confidence. He bases this on the sport’s requirements of speed, flexibility and unpredictability. As learners are required to use the safety outfits, more parents have recently become attracted to the idea of fencing. In classes students learn basic foot movement, fencing, fencing rules, attack and guard awareness - all within a 90-minute training period each week.

剑击比赛

为了确保进行剑击运动时的安全性，一系列剑击配备必不可少，包括面罩、手套、剑服、长袜、剑鞋、剑衣以及最重要的剑(花剑、重剑、重剑)，花剑和佩剑剑手还得因应不同的有效部位而穿上不同的金属夹衣。花剑是儿童学习剑击的入门课程，花剑较为轻，而且需要穿上剑衣，其最大的特点是以刺的方式主动出剑，当刺中对手的主要躯干便可得分数，即刺中头、手、脚就不能取得分数。剑击俱乐部为4至6岁儿童提供塑料剑和面罩，其优点比金属剑更轻更安全，让他们可以更好地掌握基本的剑法。而12岁以上的孩子经过花剑的学习后，则可以选择重剑或是佩剑，重剑也是以刺为主攻击，但不需穿剑衣，其攻击的范围是全身，由头、身、手、脚都可以得分数。佩剑攻击则以劈为主，攻击的主要部分是头至到腰间(包括手部)，腰间以下则不能得分。

剑击比赛赛道长14米，宽1.5 至 2米; 两边末端会有1至 2米作为缓冲，赛道的正中间有中线，而距离中线 2 米处的两边分别有预备线，在开始前双方剑手要在预备线后准备。比赛先为小组循环赛（一个小组通常有五至七人），在三分钟内取得五分者为胜，每位剑手在比赛中的胜利场数和得失剑会用来排名次进行直接淘汰赛，在九分钟内取得十五分者为胜；比赛开始前先向对手敬礼，再向裁判及观众敬礼，然后戴上面罩、站在预备线后准备开始；裁判宣布了预备和开始后剑手才可攻击，而裁判宣布停后必须停止，否则会被警告。

Matches

To ensure the safety of practitioners, the use of protective equipment including a mask, gloves, fencing dress, stockings, shoes, coat and the proper swords (including foil, épée and sabre) is mandatory. Fencers using the foil and sabre are required to use a different metal jacket depending on the level practiced. In introductory courses with the foil users must wear the fencing dress as the foil targets the torso but not the head, arms or legs and is used primarily to thrust. The club provides light and safe plastic swords and masks for four to six year olds to help them master the basics before progressing. After beginning with the foil, 12-year old children may choose the épée or the sabre. The sabre targets the entire body including the head, torso, hands and legs focusing primary on thrusts but without requiring the fencing dress. The sabre targets the head to waist area (including hands) and cutting motions are normally used, but it does not focus below the waist.

Fencing matches are held on a track measuring 14 meters in length and 1.5 to two meters in width, including a one to two meter buffer area on either side, a middle line and a two meter line from the middle behind which both fencers begin the bout. Beginning with a group round robin (each group contains five to seven members) the group with five points within three minutes wins. After ranking each member based upon gain and loss the knockout match begin. In the knockout match fencers must get 15 points within nine minutes to win. Fencers first salute their opponent, the referee and the audience, then don the mask, approach the line and wait for the judges signal to start. If at any time before the nine minutes the judges call for a stop, both fencers must stop or face a penalty.

The Pyramid What’s the pyramid?

Crossfit is a lot of different exercises mashed up into this really high intensity ball, controlled under time, or with a task to complete. The pyramid is how Crossfit should be set up. As any fitness regime, first comes nutrition, after comes metabolic conditioning - which most people know as Cardio - then comes gymnastics - which is the ability for you to control your own body in space, which is very important because after that comes weight lifting. Now we have a rule here at Crossfit XVI, which is: If you can’t move your body properly you have no business moving external objects, especially with weight on them. Once you’ve mastered all of those steps we have the pinnacle of Crossfit, which is sport. And that’s two things. You can either use Crossfit to become really good at your sport, be it soccer, football, basketball, rugby. And then, if you have the ability and, trust me this is years of work, you can become a Crossfit athlete.

What are some of the primary tools that people use for Crossfit? What do they need? I have this friend of mine, he just moved to Jakarta. In Jakarta they don’t have an affiliated box (gym), so they don’t have Crossfit in Jakarta. He does have a garage. So in his garage he has: a rower, a squat rack – which you can squat off and bench off, he’s got two barbells, he’s got around 600kg of weight – it’s more than he will ever use but he might need supports etc - he’s got a pull-up bar, a rope, a sled and a couple of dumbbells.

综合训练都有哪些主要设备？健身者都需要什么? 我有个朋友刚刚搬到雅加达，附近没有可以去锻炼的健身房。于是决定将综合训练“搬”到雅加达。他找了一个车库，在里面放了一个划船器、一个深蹲架，就是那种可以练深蹲，也可以躺在椅子上练胸部肌肉的架子。此外，他还有两个杠铃，杠铃片重量总计600公斤左右。这已经超过了他的举重力量，但他希望在朋友的帮助下，对自己进行挑战。此外，还准备了一个引体向上杆，一个绳子，一个雪橇和几个哑铃。

How much would that cost? It depends. If you go through a company that’s based in China that can cost as much as it would cost you for a year in a local gym. With that equipment, people will take some time to start moving a lot of weight, so you could train up to four or five people. I would not advise anyone to start their own gym without the proper qualification or affiliation through the Crossfit HQ in the U.S.A.

Training your body is something you have to do as a whole – something you’re demonstrating through Crossfit. That being said, what primary muscle group do you need to work? In Crossfit we abide by one rule, which is core to extremity. So that can mean two things. Firstly that Crossfit is a core structured workout regime that can lead to other things. So you use Crossfit for your core conditioning and then you can apply it to your given sport and life. Now the other side of the coin is: all the power generates from the core, from your hip, from the center of your body. We’re center seeking organisms so we like really to do movements where the power comes from not our abs but the core, which is a lot of muscles – basically everything from your knee all the way up to your chest, that’s your powerhouse. 76

How do you measure your success as a Crossfit athlete, or as a Crossfit trainer? Without the risk of sounding arrogant – I’m a world-class trainer and a weekend-level athlete. Now my fitness levels are pretty good comparing to the standard – normal people – but compared to Crossfit athletes, I really do suck.

你既是一名综合训练的教练，也是从事这项训练的健身者，你如何评价自己在这两方面的成绩？我不想吹嘘自己，但我真的是一个世界级的教练、业余级的选手。我的体能水平与标准、也就比普通人的水平相比好很多。但与综合训练老手比起来，那真的相形见绌。

Yes, but they’re crazy, you called them Greek gods… They’re the closest thing that we will see in our generation. My success, I’d say it’s personal. I’m very happy. It’s a level of happiness that I hold within myself that I can achieve 25 unbroken pull-ups strict or 50 unbroken pull-ups or I can do this workout. My highest achievement was not winning a competition but was actually doing a workout and doing it faster than some of the best athletes in the world. So that for me is not ‘oh I’m better than them’ it’s like ‘on this workout I’m better than them’ and that felt amazing. As a Crossfit coach, my level of success is still a book that’s being written. I don’t believe in success. I believe in the next step.

是的，他们真的很厉害。你把他们叫做希腊神…… 他们的水平已经近乎我们这一代的顶峰。至于我作为一个健身者的成绩，我想说那是一件很私密的事情。如果我能连续做25个标准俯卧撑、或50个引体向上，我就会很高兴。或者说，能够进行综合训练已经是一件很幸福的事情了，这种幸福完全是我内心的一种感受。我最大的成就，不是赢得一场比赛，不在于我可以比很多优秀运动员做的更好、更快，而是存在于训练的过程中。因此，对我而言，幸福不是‘哦，我比他们强壮。’而是‘在这次练习中我比他们强壮。’这种感觉挺美妙的。目前我正在写一本书，作为一名综合训练的教练，这应该是我所能取得的最好成就了。我不相信有“最终的成功“，我相信总有下一个目标。

What are some of the direct physical benefits of Crossfit? The immune system is obviously the first thing, we are rarely sick, and the coolest thing is for example, if you get a cut on your arm or you have a callus from doing pull-ups you tend to heal in very short amounts of time. The benefits of Crossfit: immune system no doubt, but mostly posture and mobility. Without technique you’re nothing in Crossfit and in life. We train in Crossfit for your sport and your sport can be life. We train house-moms and grandparents, and they don’t train to go to the Olympics but that doesn’t mean they need to train any differently than an Olympian. They need to train the same thing, but that does not mean the same weight, the same intensity, the same load. They need the same movements so their posture gets better. It’s amazing to see how in such a short time you can see that amazing benefit. From a crooked back from typing on a computer all day sitting on a horrible desk chair, [once] you start doing Crossfit the first two weeks your shoulders can’t move, but then your body adapts because those movements are functional in nature and your body will adapt quickly and the benefit is that you just live a much better, free life.

She’s pregnant. Was she interested in Crossfit before she became pregnant? Yes she was and she began to do Crossfit a long time before and she’s even getting better now. Why is she doing it even while she’s pregnant? Why not? I would like to change that wrong and unfounded conception of what pregnant women should actually do. In the states there are a lot of Crossfitters, a lot of pregnant Crossfitters, who in some cases – very extreme cases – they have worked out on the day they gave birth. That’s crazy. Actually what’s crazy is that they recovered so fast that in two weeks they were back training. And I know a lot of people think that that’s bad for the baby. I would like people to give me some scientific evidence on where that really happens. Most people like to say: oxygen depravation. I’m here as a very qualified trainer to tell you that your oxygen intake increases, your capacity to intake oxygen increases – that’s your VO2 max. You can absorb more oxygen. Being pregnant or not doesn’t matter because you have such a VO2 max before you start training that you have all the oxygen you need for your child. If you start Crossfit once you found out that you are pregnant - that I would advise against. But if you’ve been Crossfitting for six months before getting pregnant, keep Crossfitting. I can’t even stress how much better you’re going to feel. Amanda Ho has been Crosfitting with me since before she was pregnant and during pregnancy. She has no morning sickness, no cramps, her body fat remains the same – and no it does not have to increase. Her weight has gone up, but not her body fat and her baby is, and this comes from her gynecologist, her baby is the healthiest baby he has ever treated. 78

Women in Crossfit So, according to legend, every woman who works out is going to get gigantic muscles and look unfeminine. Is that right? Weights don’t make women huge and bulky. Cupcakes do. Fast food, processed food, Starbucks food - all that wonderful junk food makes women big. Weights do not make women big. They do give you muscles however. Now here’s the catch: if you have muscles you will have beautiful toned legs and that beautiful toned behind that you want to see in your bikini. We do use a lot of weight in Crossfit but just because you’re using weight doesn’t mean that you’re growing that much muscle. There is science to this. If you’re lifting between 50% and 75% of the weight that you can lift, you can get a little bit bigger. If you’re lifting 75% up to 95% of what you can lift, you’re going to get super strong, but not that big. If you lift anything below 50%, you’re going to have a lot of muscle endurance and a lot of toning, but you’re not going to get big, you’ll get really, really sexy. In Crossfit, we don’t give you what we want, we train you to your objectives. Are Crossfitters normal people? Yes, They’re normal people with extraordinary abilities.

女性综合健身有些人会认为，女性健身会导致肌肉变大，看起来像个男人，是这样吗？重量练习不会让女性的块头变大，但甜品却能。快餐、加工食品、咖啡店的各种甜食等等，这些口感很好的垃圾食品才是让女性肥胖的罪魁祸首。重量练习不会让女性变成金刚，只是会提高身体的肌肉含量。举个例子：如果你身体的肌肉含量高，双腿的线条就会很漂亮，穿上比基尼，就会展示出你渴望拥有的模样。综合训练的时候，需要做很多重量练习，但这并不代表你会长出吓人的肌肉。这是有科学依据的：如果你能举起体重50%-70%的重量，整体的维度会稍稍变大；如果能举起体重75%-90%的总量，你就会非常强壮，但绝不会变成大块头。如果你举起的力量小于体重的50%，你的肌肉耐久力就会更好，线条更漂亮，绝不会变粗，而是会非常非常性感。我们的综合健身计划，不会主观地改变你，而是会根据你的目标对你进行训练。进行综合训练的都是普通人吗？是的，他们都是普通人，但却又有着超越常人的运动能力。

出租车（的士） Taxi Service 黑的士和黄的士 Black/ Yellow Taxi 澳门的出租车有两款，一款是黑色车身奶黄色车顶，而另一款是鲜黄色。出租车起程价（首1600米）收费澳门币15元，之后每230米加收1.5元，停车候客收费每分钟1.5元，如有大件行李，每件加收3元。从澳门往路环或在澳门国际机场的士候客区乘车，除了车资外，另收附加费5元；氹仔往路环加收2元附加费。但由澳门往氹仔或由两离岛返回澳门，则无须加收任何附加费。 There are two kinds of taxis: black and yellow The flag fall charge is MOP 15 for the first 1,600 meters.
