FOOD & DRINK UNWRAPPED

Cumbria has an incredible reputation for our exceptional food and drink and to prove it, we proudly boast eight Michelin stars. You simply must try one of these amazing dining experiences on your visit, however you don’t need to eat in a Michelinstarred restaurant to have a memorable meal.

Our local produce enriches virtually every menu – from freshly made Morecambe Bay potted shrimp overlooking the sea in West Cumbria to a plate of slowly roasted Herdwick Hogget and roast potatoes in a country pub at the foot of a fell – the perfect winter warmer.

Served at any time of the year is the undisputed king of all English sausage – the long, curled Cumberland sausage that is chopped rather than minced. It’s so treasured around these parts that a butcher’s reputation is made on the quality of their stock.

Let's not forget our sweet treats. Sticky Toffee Pudding, Kendal Mint Cake and Grasmere Gingerbread® will delight anyone with a sweet tooth.

Alongside our world-class food are outstanding breweries, which make the Lake District, Cumbria, a haven for real ale lovers alongside handcrafted whiskies, gins and vodkas.

With locally brewed ales and locally produced food galore, Cumbria has a wealth of delights to make any foodie happy. Take your taste buds on holiday, go on they deserve it!
