Aria: God Moves in a Mysterious Way — Dan Locklair
GREETING INTROIT
For Everyone Born — arr. Tom Trenney For everyone born, a place at the table, for everyone born, clean water and bread, a shelter, a space, a safe place for growing, for everyone born, a star overhead. And God will delight when we are creators of justice and joy, compassion, and peace; yes God will delight when we are creators of justice, justice and joy! For young and for old, a place at the table, a voice to be heard, a part in the song. The hands of a child in hands that are wrinkled, for young and for old, the right to belong. For everyone born, a place at the table, to live without fear, and simply to be, to work, to speak out, to witness and worship, for everyone born, the right to be free!
CALL TO WORSHIP (In Unison)
God of mercy and love, you seek unity, restoration and the salvation of all. Through your Spirit guide us as individuals to bring our gifts, abilities, strengths and weaknesses together to form a community of faith seeking to share our ideas, striving to find creative solutions, and become a people who work for the inclusion of all your children. Give us grace to know there is space for all to grow and thrive, unite our hearts, minds and spirits in worship and in our service to others. Amen.
HYMN (found on page six) AFFIRMATION OF FAITH
#578 God of Love and Truth and Power — UNSER HERRSCHER Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is one true church, apostolic and universal, whose holy faith let us now declare: We believe in God the Father, infinite in wisdom, power, and love, whose mercy is over all his works, and whose will is ever directed to his children’s good. We believe in Jesus Christ, Son of God and Son of man, the gift of the Father’s unfailing grace, the ground of our hope, and the promise of our deliverance from sin and death. We believe in the Holy Spirit as the divine presence in our lives, whereby we are kept in perpetual remembrance of the truth of Christ, and find strength and help in time of need. We believe that this faith should manifest itself in the service of love as set forth in the example of our blessed Lord, to the end that the kingdom of God may come upon the earth. Amen. 3
SACRAMENT OF HOLY BAPTISM & RECEPTION OF NEW MEMBERS PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE THE LORD'S PRAYER
After each prayer, the leader may conclude: Lord, in your mercy. All may respond: Hear our prayer. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
WE HEAR THE WORD PROCLAIMED CANTICLE SCRIPTURE 1 Corinthians 13:1-3, 11-13
Cantabile — Théodore Dubois If I speak in tongues of human beings and of angels but I don’t have love, I’m a clanging gong or a clashing cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and I know all the mysteries and everything else, and if I have such complete faith that I can move mountains but I don’t have love, I’m nothing. If I give away everything that I have and hand over my own body to feel good about what I’ve done but I don’t have love, I receive no benefit whatsoever. When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, reason like a child, think like a child. But now that I have become a man, I’ve put an end to childish things. Now we see a reflection in a mirror; then we will see face-to-face. Now I know partially, but then I will know completely in the same way that I have been completely known. Now faith, hope, and love remain—these three things—and the greatest of these is love. (CEB) This is the word of God for the people of God. Thanks be to God.

"The Love Agenda"
WE RENEW OUR COMMITMENT INVITATION TO OFFERING OFFERTORY
Love Is Little — Ron Barnett Love is little, love is low, love will make our spirit grow - grow in peace, grow in light; love will do the thing that's right.
PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING
Lord our God, you are the fount of all that is good, true and life giving. Your genorosity out weighs anything we can give in return. You know we love to receive from your rich storehouse of blessing as we recieve your gift of life, your gift of grace, and your gift of creation. All of these transform our lives, help them to also create in us a desire to give to others, the gifts of listening, learning and loving. Above all, help us to receive and share with others the hope and blessing your beloved Son has shown us. Amen.

RESOURCES FOR LENT February 17 is Ash Wednesday which marks the beginning of Lent. Lent is a time of self-reflection as we focus on what our faith means. We ask ourselves how well am I living into the faith I say I believe? Lent is a time when we as the followers of Jesus prepare ourselves for Easter and consider the impact of Jesus’ sacrifice and resurrection on our lives. Our Faith Formation ministry has collected a list of ideas, daily scripture readings and other resources to make this season more meaningful for you and your loved ones. To find these resources, click on the Engage tab of the Centenary website. For questions, please contact Rev. Bret Cogan.
