PRELUDE GREETING INTROIT

Hymn of Praise — René Clausen Alleluia. Praise God in His holy temple. Amen, amen, alleluia, amen! (Psalm 150)

CALL TO WORSHIP In you, O Lord, I take refuge; let me never be put to shame. In your righteousness deliver me and rescue me; incline your ear to me and save me. Be to me a rock of refuge, a strong fortress, to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress. Rescue me, O my God, from the hand of the wicked, from the grasp of the unjust and cruel. For you, O Lord, are my hope, my trust, O Lord, from my youth. Upon you I have leaned from my birth; it was you who took me from my mother’s womb. My praise is continually of you.

HYMN

#103 Immortal, Invisible God, Only Wise — ST. DENIO

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is the one true church, apostolic and universal, whose holy faith let us now declare:

We believe in God the Father, infinite in wisdom, power, and love, whose mercy is over all his works, and whose will is ever directed to his children’s good. We believe in Jesus Christ, Son of God and Son of man, the gift of the Father’s unfailing grace, the ground of our hope, and the promise of our deliverance from sin and death. We believe in the Holy Spirit as the divine presence in our lives, whereby we are kept in perpetual remembrance of the truth of Christ, and find strength and help in time of need. We believe that this faith should manifest itself in the service of love as set forth in the example of our blessed Lord, to the end that the kingdom of God may come upon the earth. Amen.

HYMN

#399 Take My Life, and Let It Be — MESSIAH

BENEDICTION

BENEDICTION RESPONSE Go Now In Peace — Robert Lau Go now in peace, and may God’s peace go with you. Believe and trust His holy word. Amen.

POSTLUDE

Thank you for joining us in worship today.

WE HEAR THE WORD PROCLAIMED CANTICLE Gracious Spirit, Dwell With Me — K. Lee Scott Gracious Spirit, dwell with me, I would gracious be; help me now thy grace to see, I would be like thee; and, with words that help and heal, thy life would mine reveal; and, with actions bold and meek, for Christ, my Savior, speak. Truthful Spirit, dwell with me, I would truthful be; help me now thy truth to see, I would be like thee; and, with wisdom kind and clear, thy life in mine appear; and, with actions brotherly, speak Christ’s sincerity. Holy Spirit, dwell with me, I would holy be; show thy mercy tenderly, make me more like thee; separate from sin, I would and cherish all things good, and whatever I can be give him who gave me thee. Mighty spirit, dwell with me, I would mighty be; help me now thy power to see, I would be like thee; ‘gainst all weapons thou can wield, be thou my strength and shield. Let thy word thy weapon be, Lord, thine the victory. SCRIPTURE — Luke 10:38-42 (pew Bible New Testament page 87) This is the word of God for the people of God. Thanks be to God. WE GO AS GOD’S PEOPLE INTO THE WORLD

PRAYER OF DEDICATION All things come from you, O God, and with gratitude we return to you what is yours. You created all that is, and with love formed us in your image. When our love failed, your love remained steadfast. You gave your only Son Jesus Christ to be our Savior. All that we are, and all that we have, is a trust from you. And so, in gratitude for all your gifts, we offer you ourselves, and all that we have, in union with Christ’s offering for us. By your Holy Spirit make us one with Christ, one with each other, and one in ministry to all the world; through Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.

You may be wondering, “How do I know what class my child should be in?” Here is the practice we use at Centenary: Kids are placed in classes by school grade so they can begin to get to know the children they will be in Sunday school with as they grow. This means we put our kids in classes based on their age on August 31, 2022; which is the date the school system uses for Kindergarten registration. We know consistency is important to young children, which is why we move them one time during the year, and then they spend that entire academic year in the same classroom. The exception is that children move from our infant room to our toddler room when they start walking well. Contact Jeanette Juran (jjuran@centenary-ws. org/336-724-6311 ext. 1332) with questions or for more information.

MISSIONS A BED AND A BOOK Centenary will be at the Dash Stadium for “A Bed and A Book” on September 24. In preparation for this mission event we are collecting new, never been used, bedding for twin beds. This includes pillows, bed sheets, mattress protectors, and comforters. They do not need mattresses. Bedding will be given to the children who receive a bed, many of whom have never had one. If you have any questions, contact Rev. Meg Gaston (mgaston@ centenary-ws.org).
