LET US WORSHIP First Sunday in Lent • 11:00 am • February 21, 2021
THE COMMUNITY GATHERS VOLUNTARY
O Holy and Innocent Lamb of God — Johann Sebastian Bach
GREETING INTROIT Psalm 5:8
Lead Me, Lord — Samuel S. Wesley Lead me, Lord, lead me in Thy righteousness, make Thy way plain before my face. For it is Thou, Lord, Thou, Lord only, that makest me dwell in safety.
CALL TO WORSHIP Psalm 25:1-10 (In Unison)
In you, Lord my God, I put my trust. I trust in you; do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies triumph over me. No one who hopes in you will ever be put to shame, but shame will come on those who are treacherous without cause. Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long. Remember, Lord, your great mercy and love, for they are from of old. Do not remember the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways; according to your love remember me, for you, Lord, are good. Good and upright is the Lord; therefore he instructs sinners in his ways. He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way. All the ways of the Lord are loving and faithful toward those who keep the demands of his covenant.

#163 Ask Ye What Great Thing I Know — HENDON
AFFIRMATION OF FAITH
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE
After each prayer, the leader may conclude: Lord, in your mercy. All may respond: Hear our prayer.

THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
WE HEAR THE WORD PROCLAIMED CANTICLE
Live in Light, Live in Love — David Lantz III Light of the ages, Light of the world, bring us from darkness to the light, and lead us in the path of right, that in Your brightness we might live. Love everlasting, Love so divine, You came to earth from heaven above, sent to redeem us by Your love, that in Your promise, we might live. Live in Light, live in Love. Children of Light, live in love as Christ has loved. Give Him the honor. Give Him glory. Live in Christ! Light of salvation, shine down, we pray. Teach us to love as You have loved, to live in Light from Heaven above, that in Your image we might live.
SCRIPTURE 2 Corinthians 4:3-6
And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ. (NIV) This is the word of God for the people of God. Thanks be to God.

"Big Questions of Life: Where Do I Find My Truest Self?"
WE RENEW OUR COMMITMENT INVITATION TO OFFERING OFFERTORY
Zion's Walls — Aaron Copland Come fathers and mothers, come sisters and brothers, come join us in singing the praises of Zion. O fathers don't you feel determined to meet within the walls of Zion? We'll shout and go round the walls of Zion.
PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING
All things come from you, O God, and with gratitude we return to you what is yours. You created all that is, and with love formed us in your image. When our love failed, your love remained steadfast. You gave your only Son Jesus Christ to be our Savior. All that we are, and all that we have, is a trust from you. And so, in gratitude for all your gifts, we offer you ourselves, and all that we have, in union with Christ's offering for us. By your Holy Spirit make us one with Christ, one with each other, and one in ministry to all the world; through Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.

Our Faith Formation ministry has collected a list of ideas, daily scripture readings and other resources to make this season more meaningful for you and your loved ones.
