LET US WORSHIP Christ the King • 11:00 am • November 22, 2020

THE COMMUNITY GATHERS VOLUNTARIES

Praise to the Lord, the Almighty — Johann Gottfried Walther Prelude in Classic Style — Gordon Young

GREETING INTROIT

Psalm 100 (Enter In) — arr. David Wise Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth. Come worshipping before the throne of God, for the Lord, He is good, His love endures forever. So we enter in, into His gates, bringing words of praise and offerings of thanksgiving. So we enter in to bless His name, lifting holy hands in honor of our King.

CALL TO WORSHIP Psalm 100 (In Unison)

Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.

#694 Come, Ye Thankful People, Come — ST. GEORGE'S WINDSOR

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

After each prayer, the leader may conclude: Lord, in your mercy. All may respond: Hear our prayer.

THE LORD'S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. 3

WE HEAR THE WORD PROCLAIMED SCRIPTURE Matthew 25:31-46

“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’ “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’ “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’ “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.” (NIV) This is the word of God for the people of God. Thanks be to God.

All Good Gifts — Stephen Schwartz We plow the fields and scatter the good seed on the land but it is fed and watered by God's almighty hand. He sends us snow in winter, the warmth to swell the grain, the breezes and the sunshine and soft refreshing rain. All good gifts around us, are sent from Heaven above. So thank the Lord, oh, thank the Lord for all His love. We thank Thee then, O Father, for all things bright and good. The seed time and the harvest, our life, our health, our food. No gifts have we to offer for all Thy love imparts but that which Thou desirest, our humble thankful hearts.

PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING

Most holy and gracious God accept these gifts from our hearts. May they be used to share the message of your love with a world that is hurting. May these gifts shine like light in the darkness offering hope, and peace. May we offer ourselves and dedicate our lives to your service this week using our talents and time to build your kingdom. All this we pray in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

HARVEST GIFTS BLESSING BENEDICTION

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you, and be gracious unto you. May the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace. Amen.

BENEDICTION RESPONSE

The Old Hundredth Psalm Tune — Ralph Vaughan Williams All people that on earth do dwell, sing to the Lord with cheerful voice; Him seve with fear, his praise forth tell, come ye before him, and rejoice. O enter then his gates with praise, approach with joy his courts unto; praise, laud, and bless his name always, for it is seemly so to do. To Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, the God whom heaven and earth adore, from all and from the angel host be praise and glory ever more. Amen.

Angel Tree is back, but like everything else in 2020, it looks a bit different. Adopting an Angel will be all digital this year. All of our angels are listed in the Google Form linked below where you can scroll through and select the angel(s) you'd like to adopt. If shopping isn't in your comfort zone this year, there's a new option to sponsor an angel. You may sponsor an angel by making a donation which will be used to purchase the gifts for that child. If the digital sign-up is out of your comfort zone, you can contact Holly Lee (336-712-9491) and she will help you select an angel. Gifts can be dropped off on Friday, December 4 from 9 am - 1 pm, Sunday, December 6 from 1 - 5pm, and Monday, December 7 from 11:30 am - 3:30 pm by coming by The Haven. Volunteers will collect the gifts from your car and bring them inside. More specifics about gift drop-off will be sent to you when you sign up for an angel. In addition to your gifts, we are looking for volunteers. Volunteers are needed to shop for sponsored angels, assist with gift drop-off and organizing, as well as getting gifts to our partner organizations. If you are interested in volunteering for any of these roles or have any questions regarding the Angel Tree, contact Jeanette Juran (jjuran@centenary-ws.org/336-724-6311 ext. 1332). We are excited to continue supporting kids in our community through this ministry.
