AN INTRODUCTION TO US Curve is a major producing theatre, creating compelling cultural experiences for all those who live, learn, visit and work in Leicester and beyond; we use our unique home and talent to entertain, inspire, educate and engage with our diverse audiences and community. At the heart of this is the ambition to offer everyone both world-class theatrical experiences created under our Made At Curve banner, and the opportunity to discover, learn and grow. Under the leadership of Chief Executive Chris Stafford and Artistic Director Nikolai Foster, Curve is developing a worldwide reputation for its theatrical productions, complemented with a varied visiting programme of new work, musicals, drama, comedy, dance and work for children and young people. In 2015/16, over 250,000 people came to see a performance at Curve, with a further 250,000 people seeing a Made At Curve production on tour in 48 cities across 4 countries.
Christmas at Curve is the highlight of it’s year and brings together all of the elements that make both Curve and Christmas special. In 2016/17, nearly 70,000 people came together to experience the magic of a Made At Curve production and the range of activities that accompany them. Every year we create exciting new work in both of our theatre spaces and, following last year’s record-breaking audiences, Curve Artistic Director Nikolai Foster will direct a magical new version of festive, family favourite Scrooge the Musical in our 900 seat theatre. We are also set to continue our hugely popular Roald Dahl series, presenting one of his best-loved works in our 300 seat theatre. George’s Marvellous Medicine promises to be a magical treat for children, and big kids too!
Curve is a registered charity (number 230708) and all of our fundraising and sponsorship activity supports our work with people of all ages and backgrounds. We are proud to be a place that enables everyone to access, participate in and learn from the arts.

Like the film, the musical closely follows the plot of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. Ebenezer Scrooge is the definition of a miser. He is rich, but completely stingy with his money and exploits the good nature of employee Bob Cratchit. On Christmas Eve, however, Scrooge is in store for a rude awakening when he is visited by the ghost of his old business partner Jacob Marley, who informs him that he is to be visited by three ghosts: the Ghosts of Christmas past, present and yet-to-come. This is a powerful and enduring story of the plight of the poor and the perils of greed, but also about charity, hope, compassion, family, the Christmas spirit and the transformative power of redemption. Page 3
Alongside the show, Curve’s Learning team will present a programme of wrap-around activity which focuses on the themes of the story. Through a series of free workshops, learning activities and education packs, we will be able to engage with even more families, young people and school children, as well as adding value to those visiting the theatre. Scrooge focuses on good triumphing over greed and presents the perfect opportunity to align your business with all of the positive messages that Christmas represents. Read on to find out how you can promote your brand across our range of marketing materials for the show, as well as getting involved with our wrap-around activity.

DAVID WOOD A CURVE AND ROSE THEATRE KINGSTON PRODUCTION
www.roalddahl.com www.davidwood.org.uk
Curve and Roald Dahl have become synonymous for learning through fun, live theatre. George’s Marvellous Medicine will be our fourth Dahl production, following incredible success with The Witches, The Twits and Fantastic Mr Fox, all of which we Made At Curve and then went on to tour, both nationally and internationally. George’s Marvellous Medicine follows the story of the title character, his relationship with his grouchy grandma, and how his actions and reactions change everything. Why is it that Roald Dahl is so popular with children? His books leave the libraries faster than anyone’s. He has more entries in every compilation of top children’s books than any other author. This is because his stories are hilariously funny, packed with fantastic language and, to children, are rather risqué. And George’s Marvellous Medicine is no different! Page 4
This production will not only provide a wonderful theatrical experience for children and young people, but also an opportunity to learn about alliteration and adverbs, how Roald Dahl uses language creatively and how to create their own magical story! Working with the Roald Dahl Estate, Curve will be producing both lesson plans and activities which include PSHE and Literacy Objectives on the power of words, exciting writing and mixed feelings. By becoming a partner on this production, you will be helping to inspire the next generation of artists, thinkers and story-tellers, as well as aligning your brand with an exciting production that will be seen by thousands of families, both across the region and on tour.
WHY WORK WITH US? Christmas at Curve is the single biggest opportunity of the year to align our brands.
