ustoms Collectorate Port Qasim detected mis-declaration of wood consignments by two companies which were trying to evade taxes and duty by showing less weight. According to sources, M/s Kashif and Company and M/s Yaqoob and Company attempted to evade taxes of Rs 992,000 on expensive wood im-
ported from Europe. The two companies imported Swan timber and resorted to mis-declaration. However, Risk Management System (RMS), which is an efRicient system to detect mis-declaration, detected the tax evasion attempt on which Collector Port Qasim Saeed Akram directed Additional Collector Khalil Yousufani and Additional Collector Yasir Murtaza to check the consignments carefully in order not to let anybody cause losses to the national exchequer.

A CIU team headed by Deputy Collector Ahsanullah Shah and comprising Principal Appraiser Khalid Umer, Appraising OfRicer Rana Ansram Rabbani and Amir Shuja which inspected consignments of M/s Kashif & Company and M/s Yaqoob & Company. The team found the above mentioned companies involved in mis-declaration by showing less weight of the consignments, therefore, the team received the actual amount of taxes along with plenty.
