irectorate General Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized different goods from July to December 2015. The market value of these items is Rs 2.64 billion.

Sources told Customs Today that the customs team arrested 49 suspected and registered 671 cases of smuggling. Sources said that the customs recovered 1,463 kilogram charas, 19 kilogram opium, 40,550 kilogram poppy seeds and 6,64,500 kilogram explosive material. The Customs team also recovered 53,617 kilogram smuggled items, including 12,257 tyres and 182 bottles of alcohol during several operations. Sources said that customs teams showed outstanding performance during the last six months of the last year and seized more smuggled items as compared to the previous year.

Meanwhile, Director General Customs Intelligence and Investigations Imtiaz Ali Khan visited Directorate General Customs Intelligence and Investigation Quetta. Sources told Customs Today that during his visit Director Irfanur Rehman briefed hithe m on about different issues being faced by Customs Intelligence Quetta. Director Imtiaz Ali also presided over a meeting which discussed various measures to curb smuggling on Iran and Afghanisan borders. He directed all departments concerned to take every possible measure to curb smuggling close to the border areas.
