ollector Saud Imran Ahmad has directed the officials concerned to recover pending arrears as soon as possible for accomplishment of assigned revenue task. According to details, Model Customs Collectorate Multan has to recover Rs 402 million outstanding arrears under the head of various taxes from different importers. The Model Customs Collectorate is facing revenue shortfall due to decline in the import clearances after the imposition of Infrastructure Cess from Punjab Revenue Authority. arrears from defaulters to meet the assigned revenue collection target. Huge revenue collection amount has been blocked due to litigation and Collectorate of Multan Customs needs to collect outstanding amount of Rs308 million from those who move to court for avoiding payments. Few importers have also obtained stay orders from court and these importers have evaded taxes of Rs128 million. It is necessary to mention here that there are Rs180 million outstanding arrears in terms of stamp duty and development surcharges without any stay and these could be recoverable. Collector Saud Imran have directed Multan law branch to assist customs for ensuring recovery of arrears from defaulters for meeting their assigned revenue targets.
