Skelton and Brotton Parish Council fund new surface for Skelton Green wheelie area
● Cllr Mrs Lesley Kettlewell (Skelton and Brotton Parish Council) and Eileen Goodenough (local resident)
L
ocal Resident Eileen Goodenough, former Secretary of Skelton Villages Environment Improvement Group, now disbanded, approached the Parish Councillor for Skelton Green, Lesley Kettlewell last year, to see if Skelton and Brotton Parish Council
would consider funding the resurfacing of the BMX Track in Skelton Green. The proposal was put to the Parish Council, with Members voting unanimously to support the project. They recognised that the BMX Track is well used, not only by BMX riders, but also by
young children, who like to run around the track. The Parish Council also felt that now, more than ever, outdoor activities should be encouraged and enabled wherever possible. The weather held up the project’s original start date of February 2021, but the Parish Council is pleased to announce that the work has now
been completed. This is not the first time the Parish Council has supported the BMX Track. They contributed to the original project, providing match funding, have provided grant funding to replace surface dust, and also contributed to resurfacing the track in 2016.
