Army Veteran I can vouch for the accuracy of this statement.) Almost forty years later, Simon would recall his time in the service when writing Biloxi Blues, his twenty-first play. Biloxi Blues, follows a young Army recruit Eugene Morris Jerome (Fabrizio Ibanez,) Simon’s alter ego in the story, as he travels from Brooklyn to Biloxi, Mississippi for boot camp, in preparation for the front lines during World War II. Eugene, is an aspiring writer, who likes to scribble all of his private observations into a note book. But during his time in basic, he begins to censor those observations: He rips a completed page out of the journal and throws it away. It’s then that Eugene’s best friend in the platoon, a Jewish intellectual named Arnold Epstein (Ben Van Dijk), is very blunt about saying. ‘’Once you start compromising your thoughts,’’ Arnold tells Eugene, ‘’you’re a candidate for mediocrity.’’

A Jewish kid from Brooklyn went off to fight the Nazi’s and in the process, found his voice. This play first opened in 1985 and even then, reflected a bygone era. I have certainly questioned if it is still relevant, especially when it comes to Simon’s portrayal of women, (as with much of Simon’s work, the female characters seem to follow the stereotypical archetypes of Mary Magdalene or the Virgin Mary.) -In Beloxi Blues it’s Rowena, a heart of gold prostitute, and Daisy Hannigan, the sweet but chaste Catholic school girl. Yet, if you look beneath the surface of Eugene’s primary goals to become a writer, stay alive and lose his virginity, you find deeper meaning and levels in the dialogue. ‘’Once you start compromising New York Times Columnist, Frank Rich, wrote: “Besides being extremely funny, Biloxi Blues is Mr. Simon’s first serious attempt to examine his conscience as an artist and a Jew.” In their tradition of presenting Broadway quality productions, Palm Canyon Theatre kicks off the 2022/23 season with the Tony Award winning Neil Simon play, “Biloxi Blues.” Opening September 21st, this show features some of the desert’s brightest talent. Directed by Ralph Strangis. This semi-autobiographical play by the Pulitzer Prize Winning Playwright, is the second chapter in what is known as Simon’s Eugene trilogy, following “Brighton Beach Memoirs” and preceding “Broadway Bound.” Simon, made it through a tumultuous childhood, sustained by movies and graduating high school at 16. Joining the military got him out of New York and down to Mississippi where he endured hell, otherwise known as basic Training. (As an your thoughts, you’re a candidate for mediocrity,’’ That leaves no doubt that some of Simon’s messaging and award-winning work, will stand the test of time. Biloxi Blues, is not just reminiscing about a bygone era, it takes a look at prejudice and how Eugene perceives prejudice. As his friend Arnold explains, Eugene is too much a naive observer, reducing other people’s dramas to neat diary entries. If Eugene is to become a real writer, he cannot forever remain ‘’neutral, like Switzerland.’’ He will have to stop making peace and jokes and start entering the battles worth fighting, whether for principle or love. And that is what makes a show timeless and most certainly worth seeing.

Neil Simon, who died in 2018, was a multi-award-winning author, winning a Tony Award for Best Playwright (The Odd Couple), and in 1975, a special Tony Award for his overall contribution to American Theatre. He won the 1978 Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture Screenplay for The Goodbye Girl. For Brighton Beach Memoirs (1983), he was awarded the New York Drama Critics’ Circle Award, followed by another Tony Award for Best Play of 1985, Biloxi Blues. In 1991, he won the Pulitzer Prize, along with the Tony Award for Lost in Yonkers (1991). His work, some dated and some timeless, will no doubt continue to be enjoyed by audiences for generations to come.

Fountain Traveling from Indio to Palm Desert, the ArtsGPS app took me to a hub of shopping and fine dining: The Gardens at El Paseo. Right at the entrance of The Gardens stood the next art piece on my tour, which was its main Fountain centerpiece. The piece consists of a series of large boulders, the tallest of which stands at 10 feet, that have been

my path would be successful from art to finish. Salvation Mountain

Love Letters For the final stop in my self-guided art journey, I located the picturesque, and totally Instagram-worthy, Love Letters sculpture. A popular centerpiece in Downtown Palm Springs, this art piece is highly interactive, inviting visitors to help complete its message by stepping in for the letter “i.” Standing six feet tall, the bright red letters perfectly embody Palm Springs’ popular hashtag #PSILOVEYOU.

Stepping in to the center of the Love Letters statue, I felt myself becoming immersed with the Palm Springs lifestyle—reflecting leisure, style, and discovery. As with every stop on my art tour, I was able to embrace the cultural heritage and environmental immersion that each art piece represented across Greater Palm Springs. With the ArtsGPS App, I not only discovered an Oasis, but came to recognize it as unique work of art. FINDING AN OASIS OF ART WITH THE ArtsGPS APP: A SELF-GUIDED TOUR

ARTICLE & PHOTOS HARRELLCRYSTALBY ARTSCENE

The first stop in my ArtsGPS road trip led me to Salvation Mountain, a rainbow-hued, hill-like art structure located several miles from the Salton Sea. The mountain is painted with designs of nature and Biblical scripture embedded on adobe clay, culminating into large text reading “GOD IS LOVE” towards the top of the mass. Late artist Leonard Knight spent decades creating this structure, standing 50 feet high with a breadth of 150 feet. Salvation Mountain is made entirely out of adobe bricks, discarded tires and windows, automobile parts, and thousands of gallons of donated paint. Throughout the years, Salvation Mountain has appeared in various newspapers, and on television shows and films — including Sean Penn’s 2007 film Into the Wild and pop star Kesha’s music video for the song “Praying.” When taking in the sight of Salvation Mountain in person, I couldn’t help but notice how the colorful art piece acted as a lingering embodiment of Knight’s labor of love that he hoped would unify and bond those who viewed it. Etherea The next stop in my oasis odyssey took me out to the city of Coachella, where a unique art structure lives among the residential businesses and houses. Easily viewable within the heart of Downtown Coachella is Etherea—a Neoclassical, Baroque-inspired building that glows in the dark at night and stands at 54 feet. According to the ArtsGPS app, the artist behind Etherea, Edoardo Tresoldi, first featured the building at the 2018 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Tresoldi’s wire-mesh structure exudes a

ghostly presence and while I viewed its openair design and observed Etherea from within its open center, I realized how much this art piece imbeds itself into the environment— letting visitors contemplate the dimensional landscape while being able to see the open sky through its translucent design.

Indio Murals Traveling from Coachella to Indio, the ArtsGPS app led me to Old Town Indio—home to several large-scale murals chronicling the historical significance of the city. One mural, called “Agriculture in Indio and the Coachella Valley,” stretches 18 feet by 95 feet and depicts how the desert was transformed into lush fields and gardens while recognizing the farmworkers who feed the nation and the world. Another mural, “Old Indio,” features workers of the Southern Pacific Railroad when the depot opened in 1876, in Indio territory that was formerly Indian Wells. According to the app, Indio experienced additional growth when U.S. Route 99 (The Main Street of California) was constructed in the 1920s as part of its 1,600-mile connection between the Mexican and Canadian borders. Witnessing the amount of detail presented in these large murals, I not only got a better understanding of the history behind Indio, but also a greater appreciation for the effort it took to build the city into the Oasis it is today.

Greater Palm Springs is synonymous with trailblazing artwork and creative culture, making it an ideal destination to explore in search of pictureperfect art installations. To make roadmapping your quest even more simple and convenient, Visit Greater Palm Springs has re-launched the ArtsGPS app, featuring more than 100 outdoor public art installations throughout Greater Palm Springs. This re-launch is part of the Oasis of Art Campaign, with a goal of drawing attention to the many art and cultural treasures available in this picturesque oasis. In addition to the re-launch of the ArtsGPS app, the campaign also includes an Art & Sol artist video series, highlighting local artists and what inspires them. The ArtsGPS app acts as a free resource to find public art, events, things to do, and places to stay in Greater Palm Springs. Available on both Android and Apple iOS platforms, users can view the app’s digital map to explore works of art within all eight of the desert cities and beyond, and take a self-guided tour of murals, sculptures, and art galleries. Not only catering to art, the ArtsGPS app also includes helpful information for travelers on events, things to do, and places to stay. The “Events” section lists happenings across Greater Palm Springs in a calendar format while “Things to Do” includes dining, attractions and shopping. The “Places to Stay” section allows users to browse accommodations by category. With the helpful aid of the ArtsGPS app, I took an artistic journey of my own to see what wonders awaited me. Using my trusty map as a guide, I was able to view breathtaking artworks—from fixtures nestled in the barren sands of the desert to vibrantly colorful installations situated on bustling city streets. With the ArtsGPS app as my navigator, I knew minimally shaped and drilled to incorporate the water feature. The water gently bubbles from the top of the stone and cascades to a collecting pool below. At night, the fountain is illuminated with the peaceful blue glow of lights at the bottom of the pool. I took in my surroundings and found that the placement of the fountain added a perfect contrast of tranquility as it is situated within the hustle and bustle of El Paseo, and provides a spot for visitors to collect themselves after an evening of shopping. Forever Marilyn The next stop on my self-guided tour took me to Downtown Palm Springs, where directly across from the Palm Springs Art Museum, stands a colossal statue depicting the queen of vintage Palm Springs herself, famed actress Marilyn Monroe. The Forever Marilyn statue stands at 26 feet and weighs 34,000 pounds, comprised of painted stainless steel and aluminum. The statue pays homage to Marilyn Monroe’s iconic scene in 1955’s

The Seven-Year Itch. Originally displayed in Chicago, Illinois, the Forever Marilyn statue made its way to Palm Springs in 2012. Forever Marilyn then left Palm Springs in 2014, being displayed in New Jersey, Australia, and Connecticut before returning to Palm Springs as a permanent fixture in 2021. Seeing the size of the Forever Marilyn statue firsthand, I was completely enamored with the largerthan-life presence that Marilyn Monroe captivated audiences with onscreen, and how she continues to do so with this statue created by Seward Johnson.

An instant classic powered by a tic-tactoe beat, Jangly electric guitar, rippling rhythm riffs, woozy keys and walking bass lines. Lyrics simultaneously parse the vagaries of love and paint a vivid portrait of hipster bonhomie; “There goes a Brooklyn girl, there goes my baby, she just told me she’s the one who’s gonna save me, she’s always sayin’ that it’s already been done, turning around and blowing me a kiss at the corner, then she’s off into the crowd/ And I’m singing bye-bye baby, bye-bye baby, goodbye, and the city’s waking up around me as I’m walking back inside, you know it’s hard to know, and it’s hard to be the one who know, but it’s easy to say hello Brooklyn Girl, when the sun is low, how’d it go?” Much like Elvis Costello’s “This Year’s Girl” and Marshall Crenshaw’s “Cynical Girl,” the object of Freedy’s affection is an enigma always slightly out of reach. Other interesting tracks include the Memphis muscle of “Tryin’ To Move On” and the wistful skepticism of “Trick Of The Light.” The album closes with “The I Really Miss Ya Blues.” Spiraling rhythm guitar partners with kaleidoscopic keys, wily steel riffs, tensile bass lines and a sturdy beat.

Frederic John Fatzer was born in 1961 and grew up in Kinsley, Kansas. He displayed an affinity for music early on and by age 16, he purchased his first guitar via mail order. There wasn’t much of a music scene in his hometown, in fact, a year after he learned the guitar, he asked a friend to drive him 35 miles to the closest record store, so he could buy a record he’d been reading about, Elvis Costello’s debut, My Aim Is True. He briefly attended the University Of Kansas in Lawrence, where he dug into the music of Tom Petty, Tom Waits and The Replacements. By 1985 he had relocated to the East Coast intent on pursuing a career in music. During childhood, his mom had nicknamed him Freedy and the moniker stuck, he added her maiden name Johnston, and viola! Instant nom de Rock! Soon enough, he signed with esteemed indie label Bar/None. 1990 saw the release of his debut, Trouble Tree, but two years later he really made his mark with Can You Fly. Critical acclaim was universal, and the record sold a respectable 40,000 copies. His sound, a wry amalgam of Folk, Country, Pop and Rock, coupled with his deft, novelistic lyrics, evoked comparisons to idols like Elvis Costello and Bob Dylan. It wasn’t long before he was opening for acts like Soul Asylum, The Lemonheads and Matthew Sweet. Major labels came a’ courtin, and he signed with Elektra. Producer Butch Vig, who had been behind the boards with Grunge Gods like Nirvana (Never Mind) and Smashing Pumpkins (Siamese Dream), leapt at the chance to produce Freedy’s first Elektra effort. Bad Reputation arrived in late 1994 and once again, garnered rave reviews, prompting Rolling Stone to declare him “songwriter of the year.” The title track climbed to # 54 on The Billboard Hot 100 chart. Throughout the ‘90s, Freedy released stellar albums like 1997’s Never Home and 1999’s Blue Days Black Nights, continuing his streak of excellence. His music also began popping up in hip indie films like Heavy, Kicking And Screaming, Kingpin and Things to Do In Denver When You’re Dead. His final album for Elektra, Right Between The Promises, released in 2001 wed idiosyncratic character studies to wildly accessible melodies. Freedy slowed his roll slightly in the early aughts. He released a couple of live outings, Live At 33 1/3 and Live At McCabe’s. 2007 saw the arrival of a covers album, My Favorite Waste Of Time, and three years later he was back with a proper studio album, Rain On The City. Neon Repairman appeared in 2015. In 2009, he began collaborating on and off with Austin Texas singer-songwriter Jon Dee Graham. A few years later they roped in Susan Cowsill, becoming The Hobart Brothers and Lil’ Sis Hobart. Each taking a turn on lead vocals, their long-player, At Least We Have Each Other, came out three years later. Now seven years after his last album comes his long=awaited 10th album, Back On The Road To You. The album kicks into gear with the title track. Banjo-riffic guitar collides with searing steel guitar riffs, angular bass, murmuring electric piano and a see-saw beat. Freedy offers up a declaration of love that hews less toward gooey romanticism and more toward gimlet-eyed pragmatism;

There’s a breezy and Baroque, Bacharach-ian lilt to “Somewhere Love.” Liquid acoustic arpeggios lattice atop sunshiny electric guitar, thrumming bass, swoony strings, toy piano and a hi-hat kick. Encouraging, slightly cryptic lyrics could be addressing an ex, or a kid; “Somewhere love, somewhere underneath this beautiful sky above, and someday baby, I know you’re gonna see all we wanted for you was to be okay and to walk in the son another day/But until then you gotta try and you gotta understand, you always give a call if you ever need a hand, you know me, I’m always your bigger fan, I’ll see you somewhere love,” it doesn’t make much difference. The aural tableau has been set, between the gorgeous melody and the gossamer arrangement, the listener is instantly transported to a more elegant era. Gauzy electric piano partners with wobbly wah-wah guitar, shivery strings and tumbling drums on the break, for this musical Shangri La. Finally, there’s the snap, crackle and pop of “Brooklyn Girl.”

Psycho Sisters, a duo that consists of Susan and Bangle/sister-in-law, Vicki Peterson.

Susanna Hoffs achieved superstardom as part of the Bangles, but in between band commitments, she has managed to carve out a rewarding solo career. She’s on-hand for “That’s Life.” Burnished piano chords intertwine with high lonesome steel guitar, feathery acoustic licks, pliant bass and a barely-there beat. Although he’s neither “riding high in April, nor shot down in May,” Freedy has some hard-won wisdom to impart; “There’s a moment when you’re born, and there’s a moment when you’re not here anymore, between there are shadows and bright sunshine, Hey, that’s life.” Susannah’s ardent soprano shadows Freedy’s helpful homilies on the verses as sparkly electric riffs, a bit of HonkyTonk piano and barbed steel guitar notes envelope the break. Finally, the indominable Susan Cowsill is on hand “The Power Of Love.” Not only was she part of the supremely talented Sunshiny/Power Pop family band, The Cowsills (which included the protean talents of her five older brothers, as well as her mom), she’s also a critically singersongwriter in her own right, and half of The

Take “Madeline’s Eye,” which could almost be a companion piece to “Back To My Machine” from his Right Between The Promises album. A pummeling back beat pivots off darting keys, spiraling rhythm guitar and boinging bass. Steel guitar riffs, equal parts Tropicalia and Twang, ride roughshod over the arrangement. Lyrics confirm that title isn’t a typo. He’s not gazing longingly into her eyes, he’s actually just looking at the one, as Madeline is an animatronic companion whose settings need recalibrating; “She’s a unit I bought on time, with a face from a long-lost dream, when she tells me how she feels, man she’s almost real.” The wily steel guitar solo on the break can’t disguise the fact that he’s not even equipped to handle the emotional demands of a mechanized woman; “Looking in Madeline’s heart, Madeline’s heart, I see the problem right from the start, she’s wondering why and she’s wondering when, so I set her on default again.”

“Power…” blasts out of the speakers, courtesy slashing guitars, ramshackle bass, plinky-plunky piano and a cantilevered beat. Freedy and Susan’s rollicking harmonies achieve a spectral, Wall Of Sound density that elbows its way through the strippeddown arrangement. Lyrics offer a panacea for all of the world’s aches and pains: love; “We have been singing into the void to pull you out of a heartache, follow along with the song, and you will find your way to the daylight, see if you’ve been around the universe, you know everything runs on love, from the deep blue sea to the clear blue sky above.” Hard-charging guitars bluster on the break. As Freedy and Susan urgently echo the title, a Byrdsy guitar solo takes flight, ushering the ambitious track to a soaring close. The best tracks here draft off Freedy’s signature sound but manage to add new colors and textures to his sonic palette.

Back On The Road To You continues Freedy’s rich tradition of matching nuanced narratives and crackling, cogent melodies to graceful arrangements. There’s a measure of melancholy that threads through each song, rendering them all the sweeter. Wry, regretful, introspective and observant, his tender vignettes are indelible. 30 years after his watershed Can You Fly album, this new one reminds you exactly why you fell in love with Freedy Johnston in the first place.

“I don’t remember why, but I remember when you said you’d never see me again, man, after everything I put you through / But you’re the one I need, you’re the one I want, and you still got a lot of my stuff, baby, so I’m back on the road to you.” His still-boyish tenor and the buoyant melody come close to camouflaging his craven intentions. On the break, jaunty electric piano notes execute a swirly do-si-do atop some spiky steel guitar.

FREEDY JOHNSTON

30 years ago, it seemed as though Freedy Johnston burst on the scene with his brilliant record, Can You Fly. Not only did it end up topping annual critics’ polls, it also garnered airplay on Triple A radio stations (Adult Album Alternative -I know, that moniker seems smug, superspecific and condescending- but where else would you hear Iris Dement, Marvin Gaye and Television? But, I digress…), as well as carefully curated MTV series like 120 Minutes. In reality, that album came about after nearly a decade of hard work.

CONSIDERTHIS

Lyrics address wistfully an absent love who remains ever-present in his thoughts; “Today I thought I saw you again, and I almost said where you been, you know the days aren’t quite so bad, but the nights are kind of sad, and there ain’t nothin’ I can do, for these I really miss ya blues.” It’s a bittersweet end to a stellar record. This is a solo album in name only. While Freedy tackled rhythm guitar, lead and harmony vocals, he corralled a together a wolfpack of talented pickers and players to flesh out his sound. They include bassist Dusty Wakeman, guitarist Dou Pettibone, drummer Dave Raven and Sasha Smith on keys. Stevie Blacke handled strings and string arrangements and Wally Ingram added percussion.

Three songs finds Freedy enlisting some fairly famous pals to add their voices. First up is “Darlin’,” with Aimee Mann. The erstwhile ‘til Tuesday vocalist first embarked on a solo career in the early ‘90s. She has since earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Song from the Magnolia soundtrack in 1999. She has consistently released smart, sharp and melodic records. “Darlin’” begins tentatively with plucky acoustic notes, bloopy keys, brittle bass lines, meandering steel guitar and a sturdy backbeat are quickly folded in the mix. Aimee’s supple voice blends beautifully with Freedy’s elastic croon. Lyrics offer some emotional rescue, following a devastating loss; “You know you did everything you could, Darlin,’ and none of it ever did any good Darlin,’ He’s gone and it’s not your fault, he could not live cause he could not stop, everything’s going to be alright in the morning.”

Facing the cataclysmic consequences of a planet once again dominated by prehistoric predators, two generations of Jurassic heroes unite as doctors Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern), Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) and Alan Grant (Sam Neill) return to join Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) and Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) for a final “fight or flight” adrenalin-fueled showdown. Extensive engaging extras bring the cast and filmmakers together to discuss the evolution of the franchise and the special they enjoyed working with it “GIGA-BITE,” the biggest star of the film, the Giganotosaurus.

In the poignant short “FINAL NIGHT” we witness the emotional final night of filming with the cast and crew. This film displays the best of Hollywood’s tricks in helping us suspend disbelief. What we see on screen looks utterly real. These monsters that actually tread in ages past again roam the earth and are for all practical purposes living and breathing creatures that are an invisible mix of wondrous practical and computer effects. 4K/UHD. SUPERMAN SOARS ON SUPER TUSCANS

Remember the story line in the Oliver Stone movie, Wall Street, starring Michael Douglas where “Greed is Good.” The Douglas character urges his new protégé to call up a Wall Street Journal-type of publication and leave the spurious clue, “Blue Horseshoe loves” a certain stock on the stock market. The firm would then go on to sell a bunch of blue-sky stuff. Well—that’s what I’m kinda doing with the title of this particular piece—at least as to the idea. None of you readers are really going to be persuaded to purchase a bunch of Super Tuscan wine, just because I write that Superman loves the stuff and is hoarding it up—thus, increasing its value. Believe me, I don’t have to make up or over-exaggerate the quality of an Italian Super Tuscan wine. After fifty years on the market, the wine world is well-aware of its stellar attributes. But full transparency here; I’ve just been alerted by the Super Tuscan Wine Consortium that I may be eligible to win yet another fully paid first class flight and oneweek stay in Verona Italy to attend the 2023 VinItaly wine event next April. You loyal readers may recall that four years ago, I won a week’s stay in Verona with 1st class airfare, due in part to my previous columns and writings on Italian wine alerting this Coachella Valley to the qualities of Italian wine. And I’ve had a fun time reminiscing about my adventure in a few of my past articles. So allow me to humbly re-alert our desert wine enthusiasts to the eminence and repute of the Super Tuscan wine category. Surely most of you wine enthusiasts already have an inkling as to what the wine is. A “Super Tuscan” wine is one that is produced not predominantly from the traditional Sangiovese grape, but from Italian Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cab Franc, Syrah, and perhaps a touch of Pinot Noir.

THE VINO VOICE great red grapes of the world (as we indicated above). But the “problem” was that existing Italian wine classification laws prohibited great wineries using the sought after DOC and DOCG designations—which guaranteed top quality wine. The irony here was that the great wineries had to use the designation “vino da tavola”— what we would translate as “table wine”, when indeed they were blending and producing premium world class wine! It all got resolved. By 1994, Tuscany was home to dozens of Super Tuscans. The government finally recognized that the region’s best wines deserved better than simple table wine designation and it introduced the IGT (Indicaione Geographica Tipica). The top Super Tuscans are of course world famous. Some names you’d recognize include Tenuto San Guido which produces Sassicaia; Marchesi Antinori which produces Tignanello, Solaia, Guado al Tasso; and Tenuto dell”Ornellaia that produces Ornellaia and Masseto. These wines are collector wines and sold for hundreds if not thousands of dollars, depending on the vintage. They embody the best of the Italian grapes made by the best ItalianOkay—forwinemakers.most of us regular folks who wish to try a Super Tuscan-style wine without having to consider and re-adjust our monthly budget—here’s some good news: No exaggeration of heavy sales talk. The Super Tuscan-style wine of the week is only around $15 to $20 a bottle!

Of course your traditional wine from Tuscany is generally a Chianti made predominately from the Sangiovese grape. Early on, Chianti gained a poor reputation of being way too acidic for most American tastes. But as with all of the wine world, better wine making techniques made Chianti a very desirable wine—Sangiovese being a very tasty grape. And another thing happened in Italy: Italian winemakers decided to branch out of the total Sangiovese mode to include many of the other

The 2019 Villa Antinori Toscana IGT is one of the best wines at the price anywhere. Wine Spectator magazine has just awarded it 90 points on the wine Richter scale. Quoting from Bruce Sanderson, “… this wine gains intensity from the cherry and blackberry flavors, which are augmented by earth, tobacco, and menthol accents. The solid structure lends support and vibrant feel, Blended from Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah.” I think it’s one of the best available Italian wines on our local market shelf. This lovely sweet Tuxedo girl has waited 49 days at the Coachella Valley Animal Campus shelter, their longest resident. She’s cat ID#A1682659, just 1-yearold and fully of kitten fun. Located at 72-050 Pet Land Place, Thousand Palms, www. rcdas.org. Visiting hours 10am-4pm Mon thru Sat. brother Ricky was thrilled and greeted her with a kiss on the nose, though Stevie shyly scampered away. Michelle reports, “The two cats are doing great together, despite their size difference as Ricky is four times larger. Ricky follows Stevie around everywhere like a parent chaperoning. Before we got Stevie, Ricky was waking me up daily between 4am and 6am crying in grief. He would stand on top of the keepsake box where we keep Renji’s things and howl. Ricky’s mourning time is now over.” Are you feeling lonely as the summer heat keeps us house bound? Are you still feeling sad about a dog or cat that passed away? No animal can replace the one you lost. However playful Stevie Nicks brings great joy to her home, especially for Ricky who seems madly in love. Cats and kittens are wonderful companions. They are low maintenance, not requiring walks outdoors in the sweltering summers. You can take an overnight trip without arranging for a pet sitter, just leave extra food and water. There are fabulous and friendly cats at CVAC. Lots of precious tabbies, calicos, tuxedos, British blues, and more. See their animals at www.rcdas.org. The shelter has a wonderful foster program, and this is a great way to see if an animal is a good fit for your family. Foster homes are also needed for very young kittens and puppies that require more frequent feedings than a shelter can accommodate. Call foster coordinator Candy at (951) 358-7376 or email foster@RIVCO. org. Visit the shelter at 72-050 Pet Land Place in Thousand Palms between the hours of 10am and 4pm Monday through Saturday. When you see one you like, ask a staff person to take it to a visiting room for you.

Charlie’s hobbies are playing in the water, hiking with you, and just hanging with his family! This 6-yr-old German Shepherd boy is a staff favorite, loves everyone and other dogs. PET PL ACE AMAZING ADOPTION FOR STEVIE NICKS!

Michelle Brewer saw kittens needing homes featured in this column of the Coachella Valley Weekly Magazine. Her mom is Tracy Dietlin, owner and publisher of this magazine, and her stepdad is Phil Lacombe and their daughter doesn’t miss an issue. The Brewers recently lost their beloved rescue dog Renji, and the family cat Ricky was devastated along with his humans over Renji’s passing. They decided to get grief-stricken Ricky a feline companion. It was a special family event last week when Michelle, husband Mike, and daughter Lily went to our county shelter, the Coachella Valley Animal Campus (CVAC) to adopt a special rescue kitty. The large modern facility houses all the stray and relinquished animals from all Coachella Valley cities except for Palm Springs which operates its own shelter. There are over 50 wonderful cats there waiting for homes. When you first enter the spacious building, the cats and kittens are in the first room to your left. Some of them are happily playing with others in a spacious play area. This summer the stream of incoming dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens has increased. The Brewers were overwhelmed with the number of cats and kittens, and Michelle had to take a break for a few minutes. Something made her turn to look at a kennel behind her. “This black kitten was standing on her back legs staring at me holding her paw up towards me. Once we got to a visiting area, she ran toward me, crawled up on my shoulder and purred into my ear. Years earlier, our once stray cat Ricky peered at us through the window of our business. Then he crawled up on my shoulder when we let him inside.” The kitten then wisely snuggled with Mike and Lily to seal the deal.Michelle’s parents are avid animal lovers and rescue cat owners. We animal lovers love creative names for our precious pets. Michelle explains her choice of the name Steve Nicks. “I grew up with my mom listening to Fleetwood Mac and loved this lead singer. I also loved Sabrina the teenage witch who owned a black cat. When I first saw our kitten at the shelter I thought she was cool because of her black color.” Tiny 3-mo-old Stevie Nicks Brewer happily journeyed to her new home. Older

To try and combat these harsh conditions, labor unions sprouted up. Workers joined as they collectively tried to negotiate for living wages, safer conditions, and breaks. Labor Day is thought to have begun on September 5th, 1882, in New York City. On that day, more than 10,000 workers took an unpaid leave from their jobs to march from City Hall to Union Square. Marches and strikes began occurring with increased frequency. The cornerstone of most labor demands was an eight-hour work day, a minimum wage, and safer working conditions.

Labor Day was originally established to ‘throw a bone’ to overworked and underpaid factory workers. It was done to try and lower tensions between first generation immigrants and earlier American immigrants. Where unions served a critical role in developing worker rights, membership is currently at its lowest levels in seventy years. Where roughly one in three workers were part of a union in 1954, only one in ten workers today are part of a union. This weekend is LABOR DAY, a holiday that attracts lots of tourists and traffic. I remember coming here every Labor Day for the poolside parties at the PS Riviera Hotel and cruising Palm Canyon with water guns. Of course we will see checkpoints throughout the CV. The main purpose of checkpoints is not for DUI arrests, but rather to warn us to drive safely. My Legal Columns and radio show were entitled, “Accidentally Yours”. I informed my readers/listeners to write down all the facts of how the accident happened. My advice is to always list what hurts, from the top of their head to the bottom of your toes. A lawyer needs this information, and let’s face it, your memory is better shortly after the accident than it is 6 months or several years later.

This year marks the 140th Labor Day in the history of the United States. The long weekend is traditionally considered as the end of summer and a last break before we returning to work and school schedules.LaborDay is intended to celebrate the American worker. The holiday’s roots can be found in the late 1800s – a time when factory workers suffered with long hours and hazardous work conditions. Back then, workers could put in twelve-hour days for six or seven days a week. Pay was poor due to influxes of immigrants from Europe who were hungry for any job they could get. Sadly, children as young as today’s kindergarten students would work grueling hours as well. A factory worker had a hard life that was typically in a poorly vented, unsafe space.

For instance, IF you post you were just in an accident and thus were 1 hour late for golf or tennis, it arguably suggests you were not hurt that badly. If while treating, you post about playing a sport, going dancing, or on a ski vacation, this might suggest you were ok and thus faking your injuries…..or so the defense would argue. Obviously, one can be injured and still play tennis or golf, but with some pain.

After the accident, I advise my clients to use their cell phone to take pictures of the damage to the cars, injuries, the other driver’s license, and at fault driver’s insurance card. In addition, victims should get statements from the wits, and get the other driver’s statement. With today’s smartphones, this is easy to do. When injured, drivers should seek a medical evaluation asap. An ambulance validates the injuries severity and provides the information lawyer need to get you a maximum recovery. Unfortunately, often victims do not want to spend money on the hospital, ER, or

A client does not always remember what they told the adjuster, and it is not just what the victim said, but what the adjuster/attorney THOUGHT s/he heard them say.”Clients should take down social media, as it is the latest trick used by the defense in both Accidents and DUI cases. The defense will Google the victim in an auto crash, and check Facebook etc. to gather information on you. They may also contact your Facebook friends to get negative information about you.

The 1886 Haymarket Riot in Chicago gave workers a day off. It would take another forty-four years for the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 to become law. The 1938 law was the first time that child labor was restricted to those over 14 years of age (although they could still work in agriculture). Hours were limited until the children reached 16. The most dangerous jobs were withheld until they were deemed to be adults at the age of 18.

Ideally, you should see a doctor you have never seen before, so there are no skeletons in your closet when this doctor prepares a medical report. Notes in the doctors file of substance abuse, abortion, venereal disease, prior injuries etc. are negatives to some jurors. In addition, you need to treat with a doctor that knows how to write medical/legal reports. If you delay treatment, the insurance company will argue the treatment may not have been from this accident. They ask how do we know you didn’t Slip and Fall in the shower or at home and they say it was from the accident? The bottom line is that adjusters are paid to downplay the severity of the accident and the amount to be paid to you. Sooo, protect yourself and retain an experienced LOCAL PI lawyer!

Many believe that labor organizer August Spies, a German immigrant, wanted the conflict. As a known anarchist, Spies used the event to try and gain traction for his political views. Between the marches and increased conflicts, a xenophobic wave started to cross the country. This created distrust between these workers and people of different socioeconomic classes. Over the next eight years, tensions between workers and employers continued to worsen. The U.S. economy was in a recession which acted as gas on a smoldering fire. On May 11th, 1894, tensions reached a head as workers of the Pullman Car Company (train cars) went on strike. Problems between the company and workers started once union representatives were fired and worker wages were cut. This led to a nationwide strike against rail companies that used Pullman cars. By June, 125,000 railway workers were on strike. The strike crippled transit and commerce and brought the already fragile U.S. economy to a nearWithhalt.this as the backdrop President Grover Cleveland signed Labor Day into law which

Complicating matters, radical elements of some labor unions were political. Where the United States is and was a democratic republic, some labor groups championed socialism, communism or anarchy.

The bottom line is that, “If you don’t see a doctor on a regular basis, the delay reduces the case value, and the case may not be financially worthwhile for an attorney. In other words, the insurance company will argue if you were really injured you would have found a way to get medical care.”

Labor Day marks the beginning of the end of summer – so for many of us it’s a chance to pack one last fun-filled weekend in, enjoying the outdoors with family andFollowingfriends. are some tips to make the most of Labor Day: • Enjoy the water safely. Lakes, water parks, swimming pools and the ocean play a big part in Labor Day. Seems like everyone just wants to be by the water, assuming the weather permits. Before you hit the water, make sure you’re equipped with all necessary safety equipment. If you’re boating, that includes a full tank of gas, life vests and a first-aid kit. It’s also good to let someone know where you’re going and when you expect to return, so authorities have an idea where to search if you do not make it

NordPass is a versatile password manager that provides browser plugins for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Opera, as well as web applications for Windows, macOS, and Linux, as well as smartphone apps for iOS and Android. In addition to storing encrypted passwords, NordPass will also recommend clear passwords and store credit card and banking information conveniently and reliably for quicker checkouts notes, insurance policy information, and many more. LastPass is good as a free version, but premium accounts are very fairly priced and have an incredibly valuable bonus feature: the option to log into applications on your phone. Just a few password managers provide this, but it may be very useful if you ever lose your phone, since it prevents others from accessing your emails and social media. Multifactor authentication, which helps protect you against phishing attempts by requiring an additional form of authorization to log into your accounts, such as a code provided by a smartphone app or a fingerprint scan, is one of the favorite LastPass features. While it’s becoming popular, not all sites and services offer this feature, so getting all of your logins in a vault that’s protected this way is extremely helpful. Dashlane is a capable single-device password manager that can store logins for up to 50 accounts in a secure vault with multifactor authentication. It, like LastPass, can do a lot more than just fill in passwords; it can also store a lot of data and automatically fill out forms with delivery addresses and contact information. Dashlane’s free service has been excellent, but the paid service is even better. It not only synchronizes all of your passwords across all of your devices (desktop and mobile), but it also tracks the dark web for data breaches and sends you customized alerts if any of your stored credentials appear in a batch of stolen information. There’s also protected file storage (ideal for scanned ID records, insurance plans, and receipts), as well as a VPN for browsing the web conveniently over public Wi-Fi hotspots. All of this comes at a cost, and Dashlane’s premium package is one of the most expensive plans available, but the additional features (such as remote account control and priority support) rather make up for it.

back home. When swimming in the ocean or a lake, stay near a lifeguard if possible. Whatever kind of water activity you’re enjoying, keep kids within sight and arm’s reach. Never lets children swim alone or unsupervised. And remember: Alcohol and swimming do not mix!

• Protect yourself inside and out. Remember to protect your skin and eyes from the rays of the sun by wearing cover-ups, sunscreen, sunglasses, and hats. But it doesn’t stop there!

Keeper Password Manager does not have a free version, but you can use it for 30 days before subscribing to a plan. Keeper is one of the most advanced password managers

Are you one of those who keep a password book? Well, you aren’t alone. According to a Digital Guardian poll of 1,000 people, found 38.6% write their passwords down on a piece of paper. Or maybe you use the same password for multiple online accounts, just like 17.7% of users do, according to the same Digital Guardian report. Does any of this sound familiar?Wellunfortunately statistics also show that passwords are responsible for 81 percent of all the reported data breaches with the average cost of a data breach to a company coming in at $7 million. Despite the alarming news cycle, users are failing to react to the challenge, as 61 percent IT executives solely dependent on employee education to respond to the threat. One of the most effective ways to protect your online security is to use a password manager. An effective password manager makes it simple to create unique, strong passwords and securely stores them so they’re accessible whenever you need them; whether on your phone, laptop, tablet, or desktop computer. They basically perform 90% of the work for you when it comes to staying secure online, alongside two-factor authentication.

However, unlike some other password managers, NordPass does not autofill forms (automatically providing basic information such as your name, location, and email address). NordPass, on the other hand, is a capable password manager that does a bit more than you’d expect.

PASSWORD MANAGERS: WHAT ARE THEY EXACTLY?

In a recent Security Magazine Report, on average, a typical business user has 191 online passwords whereas a non-business internet user has 23 online passwords. This can range from email passwords to those used for online banking, Netflix, Amazon, Instagram, Facebook, Grubhub, or for your student accounts, office logins, medical portals, and so on. So, unless you are good at remembering the recommended a 15-character password, according to a CSO article, for each of your online accounts, we recommend using a password manager. But perhaps you’re new to password managers and want to know what the is the best all-in-one password manager. Security, usability, price, and flexibility are different factors to consider when it comes to choosing the best one. We’ve listed some top picks for the best password managers available in the market.

• Whip up a feast without whipping up a fire. Barbeques are a signature feature of Labor Day plans. If you’re planning to grill, keep it safe. Locate your grill away from combustibles and vegetation. In Conclusion The majority of these password managers perform the same basic functions. When it comes to their extra features, things are a little different. Some of these password managers, such as Dashlane, 1Password, and Keeper, charge extra fee to notify you of recent data breaches. Many companies offer to store your personal information, credit card numbers, and other commonly used information so they can fill out online forms easily for you. (It’s better than keeping your credit card details on retail websites.) The Mac and iOS applications for 1Password have been kept more up to date than the Android and Windows apps. It may be the better option if you just use Apple devices, but the other password managers are just as effective on all platforms. The most important decision you’ll have to make is whether you want your passwords saved locally on your computers and mobile devices or in the cloud on remote servers. Each method has advantages and disadvantages. If a password manager is doing its job correctly, it will encrypt all of your passwords and only store your master password as a “hash” created by an irreversible mathematical method. Unless you use various password managers, a password manager puts all the eggs in one basket, whether it’s local or cloud-based. However, for the vast majority of people, the security benefits of using a password manager greatly outweigh the drawbacks. LastPass is simple to use, highly secure, and loaded with features. It comes in both free and premium versions, so you can choose the one that best fits your needs. To keep data safe, it’s encrypted with AES-256-bit encryption, PBKDF2 SHA-256, and salted hashes - and this isn’t just for passwords. You can also store credit card information and shipping addresses so that they are automatically entered while you purchase online, as well as encrypted around, as you’d expect from a completely premium app. It’s available as a desktop app for Windows, macOS, and Linux, as well as extensions for every major browser and web applications for iOS and Android. Biometric identification is also supported on mobile devices, and the data is synced through an unlimited range of devices. Keeper, like the premium version of Dashlane, will notify you if any of your passwords are compromised in a data breach. It will also notify you if any of your passwords are weak or have been reused, and will assist you in replacing them with stronger ones. There’s also a good family package. This not only protects everyone in your household’s login details, but it also allows you to securely exchange data with one another and provides an encrypted messaging service that’s a good alternative to WhatsApp if you don’t want to use Facebook products. 1Password aims to provide security not just for individuals or organizations, but also for families by providing a shared password protection system. One is for individuals and their families, allowing a single user or a family of up to five people to use the 1Password service for secure logins. A business service is also available, and provides protection for those who work from home, as well as teams and businesses. 1Password defends you from hacks and other attacks, such as keyloggers and phishing attempts, in addition to offering any of the above, and will only work in verified browsers. As a result, you’ll have a highly stable and capable password manager that can be used for both personal and corporate purposes, like working from home, without compromising your security.

Labor Day picnics can pose the threat of food poisoning. Ensure food is properly refrigerated and cooked thoroughly. That mayonnaisebased potato salad isn’t meant to sit in the hot sun for three hours before you eat it! FOR THE LOVE OF LABOR! THERE’S NO LABOR DAY DISCOUNTS WHEN IT COMES TO SAFETY… BY DIGIOVANNACHIEFFIRESAM SAFETYTIPS

• Drive defensively. The journalist Doug Larson once wrote, “If all the cars in the United States were placed end to end, it would probably be Labor Day weekend.” If you’re on the road, you’ll have the company of millions of other drivers. Be patient. There are many of distracted drivers out there. Remember to not drink and drive, always wear your seat belt and put that phone away! No matter your destination, take your time to ensure you and your family arrive safely. Happy Labor Day!

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19): Capricorn novelist Marcia Douglas writes books about the history of her people in Jamaica. In one passage, she writes, “My grandmother used to tell stories about women that change into birds and lizards. One day, a church-going man dared to laugh at her; he said it was too much for him to swallow. My grandmother looked at him and said, ‘I bet you believe Jesus turned water into wine.’”

The goal of a personal trainer is to educate and guide you to achieve your physical fitness goals. They develop workout and meal plans and metrics to help you achieve fitness goals faster and in the right way. They are trained, certified, and experienced in understanding the best ways to get in shape. As if that’s not enough, all these plans are customized to fit your schedule. These are some of the benefits of a personal trainer. Most people think personal trainers are reserved for athletes or certain categories of people. This couldn’t be further from the truth. If anything, almost anyone can benefit from personal training. These benefits will show you why a personal trainer is a musthave resource.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21): Author Zadie Smith praised Sagittarian writer Joan Didion. She says, “I remain grateful for the day I picked up Joan Didion’s Slouching Towards Bethlehem and realized that a woman could speak without hedging her bets, without hemming and hawing, without making nice, without sounding pleasant or sweet, without deference, and even without doubt.” I encourage Sagittarians of every gender to be inspired by Didion in the coming weeks. It’s a favorable time to claim more of the authority you have earned. Speak your kaleidoscopic wisdom without apology or dilution. More fiercely than ever before, embody your high ideals and show how well they work in the rhythms of daily life.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18): To be the best Aquarius you can be in the coming weeks, I suggest the following: 1. Zig when others zag. Zag when others zig. 2. Play with the fantasy that you’re an extraterrestrial who’s engaged in an experiment on planet Earth. 3. Be a hopeful cynic and a cheerful skeptic. 4. Do things that inspire people to tell you, “Just when I thought I had you figured out, you do something unexpected to confound me.” 5. Just for fun, walk backward every now and then. 6. Fall in love with everything and everyone: a D-List celebrity, an oak tree, a neon sign, a feral cat.

CANCER (June 21-July 22): “My own curiosity and interest are insatiable,” wrote Cancerian author Emma Lazarus (1849–1887). Inspired by the wealth of influences she absorbed, she created an array of poetry, plays, novels, essays, and translations—including the famous poem that graces the pedestal of America’s Statue of Liberty. I recommend her as a role model for you in the coming weeks, Cancerian. I think you’re ripe for an expansion and deepening of your curiosity. You will benefit from cultivating an enthusiastic quest for new information and fresh influences. Here’s a mantra for you: “I am wildly innocent as I vivify my soul’s education.”

GEMINI (May 21-June 20): “The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time,” said philosopher Bertrand Russell. I will add that the time you enjoy wasting is often essential to your well-being. For the sake of your sanity and health, you periodically need to temporarily shed your ambitions and avoid as many of your responsibilities as you safely can. During these interludes of refreshing emptiness, you recharge your precious life energy. You become like a fallow field allowing fertile nutrients to regenerate. In my astrological opinion, now is one of these revitalizing phases for you.

My purpose in telling you this, Capricorn, is to encourage you to nurture and celebrate your own fantastic tales. Life isn’t all about reasonableness and pragmatism. You need myth and magic to thrive. You require the gifts of imagination and art and lyrical flights of fancy. This is especially true now. To paraphrase David Byrne, now is a perfect time to refrain from making too much sense.

3. Personal trainers help you set fitness goals

5 BENEFITS OF HAVING A PERSONAL TRAINER BY COACH NADIA POPOVA SENDMEATRAINER

1. You get customized plans As I mentioned earlier, personal trainers customize everything according to your unique schedule, physiology, and health condition. Having a custom plan helps with effectiveness and eliminates the likelihood of failure. If you are going solo, you will be tempted to try random workout exercises, most of which never work. Although there are general workouts that work for most people, you need something custom based on your fitness goals, work-life balance, and overall body health.

2. You will be accountable to someone Again, motivation and discipline are the biggest hindrances to hitting your fitness goals. Some days you feel unmotivated, resulting in slipping into bad habits like oversnacking or skipping workout sessions. A personal trainer will be there to push you because it’s their job. More so, when you know that someone is willing to help you exercise better, the motivation kicks in. In return, you work harder and never miss a session. Remember, you are paying for the service, so you might as well benefit from it.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20): In his poem “Auguries of Innocence,” William Blake (1757–1827) championed the ability “to see a World in a Grain of Sand. And a Heaven in a Wild Flower. Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand.” According to my reading of the astrological omens, Taurus, you are primed to do just that in the coming days. You have the power to discern the sacred in the midst of mundane events. The magic and mystery of life will shine from every little thing you encounter. So I will love it if you deliver the following message to a person you care for: “Now I see that the beauty I had not been able to find in the world is in you.”

ARIES (March 21-April 19): In his poem “Autobiographia Literaria,” Aries-born Frank O’Hara wrote, “When I was a child, I played in a corner of the schoolyard all alone. If anyone was looking for me, I hid behind a tree and cried out, ‘I am an orphan.’” Over the years, though, O’Hara underwent a marvelous transformation. This is how his poem ends: “And here I am, the center of all beauty! Writing these poems! Imagine!” In the coming months, Aries, I suspect that you, too, will have the potency to outgrow and transcend a sadness or awkwardness from your own past. The shadow of an old source of suffering may not disappear completely, but I bet it will lose much of its power to diminish you.

SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21): As a Scorpio, novelist Fyodor Dostoyevsky was rarely guilty of oversimplification. Like any intelligent person, he could hold contradictory ideas in his mind without feeling compelled to seek more superficial truths. He wrote, “The causes of human actions are usually immeasurably more complex and varied than our subsequent explanations of them.” I hope you will draw inspiration from his example in the coming weeks, dear Scorpio. I trust you will resist the temptation to reduce colorful mysteries to straightforward explanations. There will always be at least three sides to every story. I invite you to relish glorious paradoxes and fertile enigmas.

4. Personal trainers educate you about your body Understanding physiology is vital for everyone setting out to get in shape. Physiology refers to the study of how the human body works. It teaches about how you process food, body movements, behavior, etc. When you understand this, you have an easier time sticking to a workout and diet routine. That’s because you know the effect this has on your body. Personal trainers undergo intense training in these disciplines and get certified to offer these services. As you interact with them, they will pass on their knowledge to you.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20): A blogger who calls herself HellFresh writes, “Open and raw communication with your partners and allies may be uncomfortable and feel awkward and vulnerable, but it solves so many problems that can’t be solved any other way.” Having spent years studying the demanding arts of intimate relationship, I agree with her. She adds, “The idea that was sold to us is ‘love is effortless and you should communicate telepathically with your partner.’ That’s false.” I propose, Pisces, that you fortify yourself with these truths as you enter the Reinvent Your Relationships Phase of your astrological cycle.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22): Blogger Scott Williams writes, “There are two kinds of magic. One comes from the heroic leap, the upward surge of energy, the explosive arc that burns bright across the sky. The other kind is the slow accretion of effort: the water-on-stone method, the soft root of the plant that splits the sidewalk, the constant wind that scours the mountain clean.” Can you guess which type of magic will be your specialty in the coming weeks, Leo? It will be the laborious, slow accretion of effort. And that is precisely what will work best for the tasks that are most important for you to accomplish.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): “Now that I’m free to be myself, who am I?” Virgo-born Mary Oliver asks that question to start one of her poems. She spends the rest of the poem speculating on possible answers. At the end, she concludes she mostly longs to be an “empty, waiting, pure, speechless receptacle.” Such a state of being might work well for a poet with lots of time on her hands, but I don’t recommend it for you in the coming weeks. Instead, I hope you’ll be profuse, active, busy, experimental, and expressive. That’s the best way to celebrate the fact that you are now freer to be yourself than you have been in a while.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22): In her book Tales From Earthsea, Libra-born Ursula K. Le Guin wrote, “What goes too long unchanged destroys itself. The forest is forever because it dies and dies and so lives.” I trust you’re embodying those truths right now. You’re in a phase of your cycle when you can’t afford to remain unchanged. You need to enthusiastically and purposefully engage in dissolutions that will prepare the way for your rebirth in the weeks after your birthday. The process might sometimes feel strenuous, but it should ultimately be great fun.

Since you know what you want to achieve from working out, getting an opinion from a personal trainer is invaluable. They are able to evaluate your current condition and set goals based on the workout plans and your end goal. Often these goals are broken down into smaller milestones that show your progress over time. Unlike you, a personal trainer is objective in goal setting, depending on your abilities.

5. Personal trainers make exercise fun There are those days you just want to skip a workout routine because of its strain on your body. When you treat your gym sessions like fun activities, the anticipation of attending the next session comes naturally. Making workout fun is in the job descriptions of personal trainers. They know how to incorporate play into workout reps while still sticking to a goal. Exercise doesn’t have to feel like a punishment. After all, you are not in the army, or are you? Is It Challenging to Get in Shape by Yourself? It can be. And while personal trainers may not be for everyone, there are many benefits to having one. Not the least of which is having a support person to guide and direct you on your fitness path. Invest in a personal trainer to realize your fitness goals fast and in the right way. At Send Me a Trainer getting started is as easy as a phone call and downloading the app. You’ll let us know what your goals and current workout routine are, and we’ll find you the best match for your needs.
