Google Apps works best with Chrome or Firefox. Both are available as a free download. ● Chrome is the browser of choice ● Once installed Chrome can be set to be the default browser in the settings menu ● Click on the “Hamburger” in the upper right of the screen to access settings in the Chrome menu list

Logging in to Google Chrome Browser â—? Saves bookmarks, history, stored passwords and settings to the cloud â—? Bookmarks can be accessed anywhere


Logging in to Google Apps ● Logging in to Google Apps can be done from any Google search page ● Click on Sign In at the upper right of the search page


Creating and Managing Bookmarks ● Click on the star on the right side of the Omnibox (address field)

● Go to Settings ● Enter the information into the pop up window and click Done

Organizing Google Drive Create and organize folders ● From within Google Drive, select New> Folder ● Name folder--folder appears in Drive Right click on folder to: ● Change folder color ● Change folder name ● Star folders ● Move folders Sharing folders ● Folders can be shared in the same way that docs are shared. ● Anything created from within a shared folder will inherit the same sharing permissions ● Material stored in Drive can be stored in multiple folders ● Link to additiional info re: folder sharing: ○ https://support.google. com/a/answer/2789107?hl=en ○


Creating a New Google Document ● New documents, spreadsheets, presentations, forms can all be created in Drive or from within an existing document ○ From Drive: New>select type of document ■ allows choice of 3rd party apps and templates ○ From within an existing document: ■ File> New> choose type of document (cannot choose from 3rd party apps in this view)


Sharing a Google Document â—? Create and share documents â—‹ Setting sharing permissions


Sharing permissions ● Can edit ● Can view ● Can comment Note: Only the owner of the document can completely delete a document ● Downloading a document ○ Multiple formats for downloading-including docx and pdf ○ File>Download as>Choose format ● Can edit Microsoft docs in their native format ● Printing a document ○ File> Print


Google Sheets ● Google spreadsheets ○ Function like Excel spreadsheets ○ Can be downloaded as Excel file ○ Can enter data directly or set up a Google form to collect data ○ Can share sheets ○ Can “protect” sheets ■ ` ○ Set up notification to receive email when changes are made to a particular spreadsheet ■ Tools>Notification Rules>set rules for receiving notification when something in spreadsheet is modified


Google Apps and Extensions Google allows third party vendors to connect applications to Google Drive. These applications allow a single sign-on through Google Drive, and most store the “end products” in Drive. ● To add 3rd party applications through Drive ○ New> More> Connect more apps ○ Can also add 3rd party applications through the “show apps” icon that appears in the upper left of page ● Chrome allows extensions to be installed on the Chrome toolbar ○ Extensions are small utilities that can be used for specific tasks ○ Chrome >Settings> Extensions ■ Scroll to the bottom and click “get more extensions” ○ Once extensions are installed, they will appear whenever you log in to Chrome
