THE BELLS’ SONG Poem by Irene E. Cook (1916-2010)
I hear the rhapsody of bells This joyous Christmas morn; They’re ringing out the old sweet song, How Saviour Christ was born. To Bethlehem so long ago Came Mary, Virgin Maid; In a stable He was born and in a manager laid. A seraph of the Lord appeared In bright celestial light; The shepherds heard the angels’ song; A King was born that night. He gave His Life that we might live Enamoured of His Thrall, Blessed by the love that knows no bounds. A love that conquers all. He was and is the King of Kings, Immortal and Divine: And may the peace of Christmastide Our mortal hearts entwine. I hear the joyous peal of bells, A melody at dawn; They’re ringing out the song of love How Saviour Christ was born.
