nless you’ve been living under a rock for the last week or so, you’d have heard that Labor leader, Anthony Albanese, wasn’t able to recall a couple of economic statistics at a press conference.

We know interest rates are going to rise.

We know the cost of living is going up.

If you pay interest on a credit card, do you know what the interest rate is?

A RateCity.com.au survey in 2021, found 80 per cent of people paying interest on a credit card did not know the interest rate on their card. And only 22 per cent of cardholders accurately know their debt.

Do you know what your monthly expenses are?

Research commissioned in 2019 by Rest Super found:

A UBank study in 2018 found a staggering 86 per cent of Australians don't know how much money they are spending every month.

• |Three-in-five Australians (62 per cent) are paying for services or subscriptions they don’t use or have forgotten about.

The same UBank study found some 82 per cent don't know what their mortgage rate is.

• Sixty-four per cent of Australians are knowingly paying avoidable charges such as delivery and booking fees, surcharges and fees on multiple
