Celebrating 150 years of Orange show this Saturday The 150th Orange Show kicks off this Saturday, May 14, with a full program of exciting entertainment for all the family.

There’ll be fireworks, live music, bull riding, lawnmower races, trick riding, rides, sideshows, and a whole lot more.

This year’s show is a one-day program of events with a real focus on the agricultural roots of our local show. “So a bit of a slogan we’re using this year is, ‘We’re putting the Ag back in Ag Show’,” Rebecca said.

Local country music sensation Clancy Pye will be performing throughout the day along with Ella Lamrock, Jaffa Band, Mell Moore, Sam Handford, NYKoDA, the Caston Town hall string band, Orange City Band, and an assortment of JAM Orange artists.

MIDNIGHT CALL Very recently, my husband and I were woken from a deep sleep by a phone call at midnight. The caller was my cousin from England; ringing to wish me a Happy Birthday! It was 3pm over there. She thought I might have been partying, so took a chance. Even though it was nice to hear her voice, it took me by surprise.

The next day, I was reading a passage in the Bible about the end times (Matthew 24:36-44), and I thought about this incident. It reminded me, that even though we’re told this world is going to end, we will be totally unprepared when it does occur.

In view of that, we’ve been told to “keep watch” because we tend to live our lives as though this world is going to last forever. “Eat, drink, and be merry” is the catch-cry.

Orange’s 2022 Mother’s Day Classic has doubled last year’s fundraising haul, bringing in $12,000 for breast cancer research.

It’s only the second time Orange has held the fundraiser, which sees tens of thousands of Australians come together around the country for a fun run (or walk) and show support for women diagnosed with breast cancer.

The event on Sunday, May 8, saw over 300 walkers and runners take a lap of Lake Canobolas.

Among them were more than 30 members of the Mitchell family, who were walking in memory of Michelle who died from cancer a year ago.

It would be a real shame to miss out on the most important event when Jesus returns, because we were caught sleeping. The Bible tells us how we can make ourselves right with God, and then we won’t miss out on a world to come where righteousness reigns. I am personally looking forward to that!
