Going nuts in the bush!

Mass Nutbush dance-off in Robertson Park against gender-based violence Council to shine a spotlight on the issue of gender-based violence in Orange, part of the international ‘16 days of activism against gender-based violence’. The campaign began on November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and will run until December 10, World Human Rights Day.

Orange City councillors and council staff were among the large crowd of locals who joined in a community dance-off in Robertson Park on Friday, December 1, doing Australia’s favourite dance “the Nutbush”.

The iconic Tina Turner hit rang out across the park on Friday morning while school children, police officers and representatives of various local business and community agencies stepped in time (mostly) to the popular song.

The international campaign uses the colour orange to represent a brighter future, free from gender-based violence and those participating in Friday’s dance-off were encouraged to wear something orange on the day.

Jack may be the Littlefield with more fights and titles to his name, but it doesn’t mean he and Dave always see eye-to-eye when it comes to training for this fight.

“Having your son as trainer… we butt heads a bit sometimes, and he sees the other side of it, so it has been an interesting situation,” Dave said.

For local fight gym Littlefield’s Boxing Orange this event is a real family affair with Dave Littlefield and son Finn both hoping to win interstate titles.

At the last boxing event in Orange back in November 2019 it was Finn’s older brother Jack Littlefield who featured in the main event while his father sat ringside. Recent health issues have kept Jack out of the ring and so this time around Jack has stepped into the role of trainer and fight promoter.

“Jack’s taken over the promoting role, he’s the official promoter and he’s got his promoter’s licence,” Dave Littlefield said.

“I’m fighting on his card and my other son Finn, he’s fighting on his card… and Jack is training us both so the roles are completely reversed. He’s the trainer and the promoter this time and matchmaker, so it’s a pretty unique situation fighting on your son’s card.”

For Dave, 45, Saturday’s bout for the Interstate Master’s Welterweight Title (67kg) will be the 34th fight of his 25-year-long career.

“For me, I’ve had multiple attempts at titles over the years. I’ve lost a couple of split decisions in Australian titles, but I won the

For Finn, who turns 18 this week, this will be his 20th amateur fight and his first shot at a title. He will be facing a 33-year-old Tasmanian fighter for the Interstate light middleweight title (71 kg), but Finn’s not worried about the age difference.

“It’s going to be tough, a good challenge, but I spar people older than me and bigger, so it will be a good fight and a dood show,” Finn said.

“He’s progressing really well and it’s a good situation,” he said. “Finn grew up watching his brother Jack and he’d come to the fights and watch him put in the hard work and Jack ended up winning multiple national amateur titles.

“Any success that comes out of Littlefield boxing has got a lot to do with that path Jack’s created…. this might sound a bit corny but, back in the day, I taught Jack how to win titles but he showed everyone

Battle in the Bush 8 will be a unique event for Orange. Along with the two interstate title fights, there will be more than a dozen amateur bouts, one professional boxing match and the main event is a Muay Thai fight featuring Orange’s own world champion, Charlie Bubb.

“I think it will be a really good crowd, I can’t wait,” Jack Littlefield said of Saturday’s fight night.

“It is shaping up to be a pretty good card, and it’s really good to bring fighting back to the Central West.”

Battle in the Bush 8 takes place at the Naylor Pavillion, Orange Showground on Saturday, December 9. General admission tickets are still available from One Strength Gym and Sportspower Orange.

Tickets will also be available at the gate if not sold out prior.

Support group helping grandparents raising grandchildren “We do laugh a lot. There is a lot of humour in this place,” says Judy of the group of women sitting together in the hall in East Orange.

Judy and friend Tracy, who’ve asked only to be referred to by their first names, are members of a local support group for grandparents who’ve found themselves the parental carers of their own grandchildren.

The two women have both had grandchildren in their care for more than ten years and know all too well the challenges that grandparents face taking on parental duties later in life.

“As grandparents, we are a generation away,” says Tracy. “We are not up with their schooling, and if you are not up with technology, you can’t help them and all these things people don’t think about…

“The fact that we don’t have a carer’s card and every time you go to a doctor, a dentist, a hospital it’s, ‘Who are you? Where’s the parents?’ and it’s always in front of the child.

“It is the same with everybody,” she continues. “And physically we can’t keep up with them, but that doesn’t mean we are going to let them go into the foster system or in a home, because we are not as physically capable as we’d like to be, they are your flesh and blood.”

Financially too, it can be a challenge, says Judy, who is essentially raising her granddaughter on a pension.

“Since I’ve had my granddaughter I’ve

never had a pay rise in the money they give us. It’s never gone up; next year, when she turns 15, the pay rate goes down,” says Judy.

“We get 30-something dollars a week for having her, and I live on a pension.”

In most of these situations where grandparents have taken on their grandchildren, the children are suffering trauma and really do need extra support, says Judy.

There are other grandparents in their group, says Judy, that have to work full-time jobs to support their grandchildren, while their own parents help with before-andafter-school-care.

And because they have chosen to seek parental care of their own grandchildren, they are eligible for “little, if any, government support, says Tracy.

“We started this group so that every new grandparent in this situation does not have to reinvent the wheel. We can help them,” says Tracy.

The group, she says, are able to share their own experiences and provide advice and help to others facing the same situations.

“We’ve got kids who are trying to commit suicide because they don’t fit in.. and that’s not anybody’s fault particularly, but it is just that these kids are different,” she says.

“If we can stop

“People of our generation tend to not want to ask for help, and we get that, but everything we say in that room is confidentíal, and if you’ve got a genuine concern there will be someone in that group that can steer you in the right direction,” says Tracy.

“They are angry, and they often have ADHD or are autistic.. and their parents would hit out so they hit out. That’s definitely the case with a lot of the kids. A lot are running away from home because they don’t like the rules.

“If we can stop somebody going through anything that we’ve gone through in the last ten to twelve years, then we’ll have done our job in life to help others, and that’s all we want to do.”

“But if those kids went to a foster carer, the foster carer would be given a carer’s allowance, medical allowance, this allowance… so we are saving them so much money but are not helping us with even the minor things,” says Tracy.

“So we’ve got grandparents working full time just to pay for the grandchildren in their care to go to school and have school uniforms and all that… if the government gave them this allowance that a foster carer got she wouldn’t need to be working, she could be there to stop the kids having issues to help them with their homework and all

“It is not easy,” adds Tracy, “but you do it because you love the kids. We take these kids on because we love them and we’ve got to get them out of the situation they’re in and all we are asking for is support.”

Despite their lobbying efforts over the years, nothing has changed, says Tracy, which is why they are trying to reach out to other grandparents raising kids so that they can help support each other.

“One of the girls said to me, ‘You girls saved my life’,” says Judy. “We’ve all got our own stories, and it’s horrendous, and it is sad, and it’s hard, and financially it’s difficult… but you talk to each other, and we pull each other up.

“It is just having someone to talk to and someone to back you up. I don’t want a medal for doing this. I’ve never regretted the day when I said I would take my granddaughter on and I love that I go to bed and I know where she is and how she is… but you need that support system and that’s what we’ve been trying to create here for four years now.”

Bereaved parents invited to light a candle and remember lost loved ones The Orange Chapter of The Compassionate Friends is inviting bereaved families to join them in a casual but special get-together to light a candle in memory of those who won’t be at the table this Christmas.

The Compassionate Friends is an international charitable organisation that offers support, understanding and care to bereaved families who have suffered the death of a child or children of any age and from any cause.

Then we read out all the children’s names on the honour roll and light the candle and have a bit of reflection time.

Donno said you are also welcome to bring a photo of your child to display.

“Anyone who wants is welcome to bring a chair and nibbles and stay and have a chat,” she added.

Every year, on the second Sunday in December, they hold a worldwide candle-lighting event to remember children who have died.

Donna and Tammy Greenhalgh founded the local Chapter of The Compassionate Friends in June last year. Donna’s 26-year-old son Daniel died of cancer in 2020 just months after Tammy’s own son Harry died in a tragic waterskiing accident.

The Orange Candle Ceremony will be held from 5.30pm this Sunday, December 9, in Elephant Park, and all are welcome to light a candle in memory of their child, brother, sister or grandchild.

About 20 parents attended their very first meeting, Donna said, with a smaller group now meeting regularly. The group has been a great support and encouragement, she said.

“Christmas is a time for celebration, and I think it is a beautiful evening to acknowledge that one who is not going to be in their chair at Christmas, to honour that child,” co-founder of the local Compassionate Friends chapter Donna Stedman said.

“Child loss is a grief that is very hard to explain if you haven’t experienced it,” Donna said.

“It is a no-obligation invitation. It’s just if you want to come and put your child’s name on the honour list and light a candle in their honour.

“Different people get up and want to read a verse or a poem or something that is significant for them.

“I find, for me personally, it is only other parents that have lost a child that really understand the depth of the grief and the mixed emotions… It is so hard to put into words.

“I’m only a little over three years and to talk to someone who is 20 or even 40 years down the track is reassuring that, although it never goes away, it does get a lot easier.”

The best secret ingredient: love!

Christmas celebrations are on the way and I can see people in town already putting all the lights and paraphernalia in their houses. Shops are getting busier and busier with people preparing presents and a lot of families are already talking about the Xmas menu for their holiday gatherings.

Traditionally barbecues, salads, seafood, and roast dishes will fill our tables and we will end up cheering with our glasses full and wearing colourful paper hats. It is also a time for business parties and team celebrations. And we will all want to have a good time and forget work and everyday worries, and celebrate outdoors with the friends and family we love the most.

A year and a half ago I started this home-cooking write-up in order to help our community to navigate the cost of

living. Hoping my tips, stories and recipes are helping you feel more confident in your kitchen. And hoping you found easy and economical ways to cook healthy meals for yourself and your family.

COVID-19 and suffering economic crisis, I’d like to take a second to ask you to stop and think how lucky we are! We may not be living the best of times, but at least we live in a free and democratic country.

If you have been following me all this time you’ll know that the best secret ingredient you can use in a kitchen is LOVE. Either cooking with care for others or even spending a little bit of time planning a yummy meal for yourself.

Because at the end of the day, food is a physiological need in order to live, but as well it is the most amazing way to say to someone that you love him/her.

The international news is telling us that human beings sometimes can be very cruel to each other and that history keeps repeating itself and, unfortunately, we don´t learn from it.

However, sometimes we find positive stories too with superheroes like Spanish chef José Andrés with his organisation World Central Kitchen, which dives into whatever disaster in the world and feeds the population that is suffering and in need.

I’d like to take the opportunity with this last food write-up to ask you to look after yourself, to be gentle and to enjoy every day. I know they all sound like commercial clichés but they are not. After a full-on year coming from the consequences of

It has been a very awesome year (but a hard one too)! It has been totally worth it, but... It’s time for me to stop and have a break.

I´d like to take the opportunity to thank Jonathan Roe and all the Orange City Life team for what they do for our community.

And for allowing me, as a foreigner writing in my second language, to be part of their team. It will be an experience that I won´t ever forget!

Recipe: Xmas pink sauce with prawns INGREDIENTS:

METHOD:

- Prawns, peeled and deveined

1. Peel your prawns, devein.

- 150g mayonnaise

2. In a bowl combine mayo, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce and sriracha/Tabasco sauce. Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed.

- 1 tbsp ketchup - 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

3. Serve cold in a rustic prawn cocktail, as an entree with cos lettuce (taco style) or in a classic Aussie prawn roll.

I was privileged to co-host the Central NSW Joint Organisation (CNSWJO) meeting at NSW Parliament alongside my colleague Roy Butler MP. We had the honour of having Premier Minns, Treasurer Mookhey, and Ministers Sharpe, Kamper, Jackson, and Aitchison address the attendees. Heart of the Nation

The Orange Trout Acclimatisation Society (OTAS) convened its annual Christmas Luncheon, with an enjoyable fly-fishing excursion, at a local property near Orange. A bountiful harvest of rainbow trout was successfully captured using fly fishing techniques, all of which were subsequently released. OTAS boasts a storied history spanning nearly a century, rendering it one of the most enduring Acclimatisation Societies in Australia. Was a great day out and wishing all the fishermen out there tight lines!

It was wonderful to reconnect with Greg Page, known for his contributions to The Wiggles and Heart of the Nation. Many of you are likely familiar with Greg's remarkable journey of personal survival after experiencing a cardiac arrest. Greg stands before us today due to the prompt administration of first aid and the timely access to an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). The chances of surviving a cardiac arrest without the use of an AED before the arrival of medical professionals are just 4%. However, when an AED is employed before the ambulance arrives, the survival rate soars to 30%. I am enthusiastic about the prospect of increasing the availability of these life-saving devices in our communities and am working to see this happen.

Australia Many of you know I’m a bit of a sports tragic, so I couldn’t pass up the chance to see some unique trophies from the game of cricket which were on display in the Speaker’s dining room at Parliament.

They included the Men’s Ashes trophy, the Women’s Ashes trophy and the World Test Championship mace.

The first of what the club hopes will be many events was all about bringing together women who enjoy owning and driving classic cars and bikes.

Local Housing, Health and Community Organisations Strike Gold From Cadia Coins Dozens of local charities and not-for-profit organisations across Blayney, Cabonne, and Orange will benefit from funds raised when one-ounce gold coins made from gold mined at Newmont’s Cadia Valley Operations (Cadia) are auctioned.

The limited-edition coins have been commissioned by Cadia to celebrate 25 years of mining in the Cadia district.

Thirty-seven of the coins are currently up for auction online via Macquarie Auction Group, with bidding closing on Thursday 14 December. The coins are being auctioned commission-free, with the full proceeds being donated to the local charity or notfor-profit organisation.

The remaining three coins will be auctioned directly by Housing Plus, Ronald McDonald House Charities Central West and the Torie Finnane Foundation at their annual fundraising events in 2024.

Long-term Cadia community partner Bowen Community Technology Centre is one of the organisations set to benefit from the auction, with Manager Paula Townsend looking forward to seeing the funds raised from the coin.

We too have an internal fight that is very similar, with no clear winner. Part of us is really good – we love and care for our family and friends, we want to help others, we volunteer and do good things. At the same time, part of us is very selfish – “this is mine, I worked for it, I deserve it” – and we get angry with our partners, our kids, our kids’ teachers and Orange City Council.

Why is this? If we are honest, our lives are not what they should be. Or as we read in the Bible, “You desire but you do not have, so you kill [metaphorically]. You want but cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight”.

There is only one way to fix this, and that is by telling God you are sorry and want to change. You can do that because Jesus died for all the bad things we do, and he is ready to change you if you really want him to.

ast week in Parliament, it was great to catch up with the wonderful students, teachers and parents from Bowen Public School during their excursion to Canberra!

I recently received a package sent via Australia post to my home.

The sender’s address on the package appeared to be fictitious and my family and I, including my children, were very shocked and concerned that our home was being targeted.

The class asked many great questions including: What inspired me to get into politics?

How often do I get to speak in the House of Reps?

In accordance with protocols, I notified the Australian Federal Police, and they in turn contacted Orange police, who have been very professional, and swiftly investigated and found that the package had been sent using a fake name, address and signature and was paid for with cash.

Where are my offices located?

And what is my favourite dinner?

That was an easy one... Spag bowl!

C

ost of living pressures are about to get a whole lot worse with the Reserve Bank raising interest rates more than a dozen times since May 2022.

This will add even more pressure to individuals, families and businesses struggling to pay the mortgage and many other bills, such as power, petrol and council rates. They all just keep going up.

The rates have been hiked because the Reserve Bank says that it wants to cool the economy to rein in ever rising prices. This inflation has been eating away at incomes for a long time and it keeps getting worse.

So how did we get here? The causes of inflation can be traced back to Covid-19. During that time both state and federal governments went into massive debt in order to “stimulate” the economy. While some programs like JobKeeper were both crucial and effective, the mega spending lit the fuse on an inflation time bomb. All the major parties were

in on it with the then state and federal oppositions all supporting the massive cash splash. The Reserve Bank was also in on the act big time. For the first time it basically started printing money to help pay for it all.

And when you pump that much money into the economy you are always going to get inflation.

Denying this is like trying to defy the laws of gravity. All of the major parties and the Reserve Bank have let the country down on this issue.

The package contained empty wine bottles bearing labels carrying an insulting message.

When confronted by police last weekend, she admitted to sending it.

I have not spoken to Ms Culverson since January and do not regard her as a friend.

This was no joke. The sending of the package and the steps taken to conceal her identity, created fear, anxiety and stress for our whole family, including my children. By this package being sent to my home, it creates awful worry that your house is being watched and that you and your family members may be in danger or at risk.

This is nasty, vicious and spiteful politics.

It’s the National Party operating in the shadows. This is an appalling new political low.

Because of the impact this has had on my whole family, I have contacted the Australian Federal Police and asked them to review whether a federal offence has been committed.

uge congratulations to Andrew Baker, Emma Quirk-Baker and their small team at Leatherwood Bespoke Rosin, who were finalists in the Australian Export Awards held in Parliament House in Canberra recently.

In the foothills of Mt Canobolas, Leatherwood Bespoke Rosin makes resin which is applied to the bows of stringed instruments such as violins.

The Leatherwood team is the NSW Regional Exporter of the Year and narrowly missed taking out the national title. They did however receive a special judge’s commendation, which means it was very close and they did very well!

Congratulations to Andrew and Emma on this very high achievement.

It’s going to take generations to pay all the debt back and in the meantime Australians across the country are paying the price with soaring prices for every thing. The pain and stress this is causing is enormous.

While there is plenty of blame to go around, cost of living relief needs to be given the highest priority by all levels of government.

Carols in the Court for a cause!

et into the festive spirit with a night of carols in the Orange South Court on Saturday, December 16, all while helping to raise money and awareness for Huntington’s Disease.

“Hark! Carols in the Court” is an outdoor screening of all your favourite Christmas Carols recorded by 15 local artists including Clancy Pye, Robbie Mortimer, Megan Woods, Dave Webb and more.

Filmed during the COVID lockdown period, this will be an encore screening of the locally recorded Christmas production,

which was created as a fundraiser for Huntington’s Disease.

At just 18, Rachael’s life changed forever when her mother was diagnosed with Huntington’s and she became her carer.

Her mum passed away in 2003 at just 50 years of age and ever since Rachael has continued to raise awareness about the huge impact this debilitating disease has

on individuals and their families.

She said there are about 35 families in the Central West living with Huntington’s Disease and much more awareness and education is needed.

Hark! Carols in the Court will take place from 6pm on Saturday, December 16 in the Orange South Court.

Women’s social cricket proves to be a hit in Orange

O

ur local women’s social cricket competition wraps up this Friday evening after a highly successful inaugural season.

The idea of holding a 16-over, eighta-side women’s competition was put to local cricket clubs in September this year and the response has been overwhelming, Cricket Manager with Cricket NSW, Angus Norton said.

“I wasn’t thinking we would get 40 participants, let alone the 90-odd we’ve got!” Angus said.

The eight-team Friday afternoon Orange League is the largest women’s social cricket competition in NSW and the only one running outside Sydney and Newcastle.

“I’m absolutely thrilled with it. It’s really a fantastic result,” Angus said.

“It’s been something we’ve been talking about for a little while… and off

the back of Phoebe Litchfield and the World Cup, we sort of thought we really need to leverage off it and get a women’s competition up and running.”

For Orange City Warriors captain Mel Hamling, whose three sons play cricket for Orange City, and other “cricket parent” players the competition has been a welcome reversal of roles.

“Dads, husbands and even grandparents -- the men that come, they’re happy to do the scoring or the umpiring, So it’s really been quite a family-friendly competition. It’s on a Friday afternoon when (mostly) we’re not doing any kid’s sports training, we can get everyone out there and have a sausage sizzle and have a game of cricket!

...it’s a real nice experience for us to be on the playing field and our kids sitting on the sideline for once...

“Lots of us are mums of kids that are playing currently on Saturday mornings and in rep sides, we travel across the countryside to play cricket. So it’s a real nice experience for us to be on the playing field and our kids sitting on the sideline for once,” Mel said.

“And there’s lots of cheese and bickies and sparkling wine that happens at drinks break! So that really helps,” she added.

Last year in the Central West, Angus said there was a 250 per cent increase in the number of girls aged five to 12 years participating in junior cricket.

“But then we had nowhere for those

girls to go after that, when they get to the back end of that age group, if they don’t want to go play cricket with the boys,” Angus said.

Seeing a women’s cricket competition continue could see more girls keep playing the sport.

“Any way of getting more people playing cricket and loving the game is a great initiative,” he said.

Mel Hamling is certainly keen to see the competition continue and says she would even like to see more extended over games next year.

“I’d be pushing for a full 20/20 format if it goes ahead next year,” Mel said. “And from the feedback I’m getting from my team and our club, and when we play Central and CYMS, everyone’s loving it!

“I definitely think we’d have even more teams next season because the word’s got out and people are seeing what we’re doing and knowing that we’re enjoying it.

So I definitely think it will be happening again next!”

MEET MILLTHORPE AUTHOR KIM KELLY AT LOCAL LAUNCH OF LADIES’ REST AND WRITING ROOM, DECEMBER 14 Local author Kim Kelly’s latest book, Ladies’ Rest and Writing Room, is the winner of the inaugural Finlay Lloyd 20/40 Prize, a new Australian literary award.

Set in 1922 in Sydney’s once-famous Farmer’s Department Store, Ladies’ Rest and Writing Room tells the story of two young women grappling with devastating grief in the wake of World War One. When their paths cross unexpectedly in the department store’s Ladies’ Rest and Writing Room, recognition flares and with it a chance of new life and a new understanding of love.

The prize judges said: ‘It’s rare to come across a work of deep psychological insight conveyed with such verve and lightness of touch.’ And the Age once said of Kim’s previous work: ‘Why can’t more

people write like this?’

Kim is the author of twelve novels, including the critically acclaimed Wild Chicory and The Rat Catcher: A Love Story, which was longlisted for the 2022 ARA Historical Novel Prize.

Kim is also a book editor and PhD researcher of Australian historical fiction.

Luka Smith is CWA Central Western Group’s

“Most Deserving Apprentice” First-year boilermaker apprentice Luka Smith has been presented with the A Central Western Group’s “Most Deserving Apprentice” award.

Each year the CWA Central Western Group selects an apprentice employed by SkillSet for the award.

finished. He plans to use his award money to purchase much-needed tools to assist him in his work. CWA Central Western Group is pleased to provide this annual prize to young apprentices in our group area to acknowledge their hard work and dedication to their chosen careers.

This monetary prize comes from funds raised at the Tea Rooms at the Australian National Field Days, where the CWA have been serving tea and scones for the past 70 years.

This year’s winner was Luka Smith, who completed the first year of his apprenticeship while studying years 11 and 12 at Orange High School.

A BIG thank you to all the Schools, Churches, Girl Guide groups, Scout groups and Individuals that packed Samaritans Purse Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes. There will be 850 smiling children.

Shoeboxes from Australia and New Zealand are being sent to Cambodia, Fiji, the Philippines, Papua New Guinea and Ukraine.

It’s December. I don’t know how that happened, but all of a sudden we are in the last month of the year. The sudden transformation of houses as the Christmas lights have gone up is remarkable. The gradual increase in the busyness of life has suddenly hit a new level all because we turned a page on our calendars. There is so much to do, so many places to be, parties to attend, food to plan, school assemblies to get to, presents to buy and wrap and a whole lot more. It is a crazy time of the year.

What is it that fuels the insanity of the holiday season? Is it because we want to give our families a memorable experience? Is it because we love to show others how much we care for them?

These are great reasons. But what is this season really all about?

Why do we even celebrate this holiday? Why are our years centred around December 25? The idea of putting up a tree in the house and decorating it, buying a bunch of presents and having a feast surely have some deeper meaning than simply doing it for the sake of it? When you understand why we celebrate this holiday, all the wonderful elements that make Christmas what it is, become all the more special. So why do we celebrate this holiday? The reason is because of Jesus. He is the

reason why this holiday exists.

Because Christmas is the time when Christians celebrate God coming to the world as saviour.

The Bible records this amazing announcement in Matthew 1:20-21 where it says: “Behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, ‘Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins’.” You see, this is why Jesus came. To save. This is the good news of Christmas. This is why at Christmas time we talk about hope, joy, and peace. This not only puts everything into perspective for me in the midst of the craziness of the season, but also helps me navigate the season with a sense of purpose. So, I hope you enjoy this season – no matter how crazy it may be at times. But also as you hear the carols as you shop, and see the many words associated with Christians, perhaps it can cause you to pause and reflect on why we have this holiday. Maybe you can reflect on what makes it so special and as it draws even closer.

And as the days go by maybe you can even stop to consider the one who this season is really and truly all about.
