with DAVID DIXON
Justice in our system is represented by a blindfolded woman holding scales that objectively and fairly determine guilt or innocence. The blindfold on “Lady Justice” indicates that we are all judged on our character and conduct, not our name, position, and influence. Newswatch recently became aware of a matter involving a well-known local Orange identity who appeared before a magistrate on what was once primly referred-to as a “domestic matter”. We at Newswatch aim to bring out the best in people with positive stories highlighting issues of direct relevance to the local community; we don’t do courts, crimes, car-crashes, and police rounds.
Save our trees… foliage is on Orange City Council’s mind at the moment with opposition to proposed removal of trees in Anson Street for the planned pedestrian mall likely to see Council save the trees.
However, it does strike one as a bit odd that those — that slavishly report in detail on domestics, DUI’s, assaults, and varied other mayhem in the billionfooted city — did not cover this matter as they would a Joe-Average from east Orange (or Kelso, for that matter) pleading guilty to the same offence.
Precedent of the recent tree forum is also likely to be followed with a similar event held for the controversial south Orange sports precinct. Council recently released first stage of the development application (DA) to remove more than 500 trees for the Bloomfield sport stadium proposal.

Tributes for beloved former Mayor, Tim Colour City is mourning recent death of much-loved former Orange mayor, Tim Sullivan (OAM).
Mr Sullivan recently passed-away after a long battle with kidney failure and was warmly-remembered by a number of current councillors.
“He was a great son of Orange, born and bred” current office-holder, Cr Reg Kidd, who knew Mr Sullivan for decades in both his private and professional life, said.
