Welcome As we progress through the second half of 2016, which has so far proved to be a year of change and uncertainty, allow me to present a new and varied list of courses that I hope will encourage and refresh you. Our passion is to see people encounter God in new ways and invest in their daily walk with Him, so whether your heart is for pastoral care, leading small groups, mentoring, or delving deeper into some of the less obvious passages of the Bible, we hope that some of the following courses will be instrumental for your spiritual growth. I also hope that, wherever you are, many of you will be joining us in praying during our National Prayer Weekend coming up very soon (see below for more information). In this season’s brochure we are offering several different courses around church development, such as Pastoring on the Fringe (page 11), Closing the Back Door (page 7), and Mobilising the Local Church for Growth (page 9). Jesus assures us that ‘the harvest is plentiful’ (Matt. 9:37), so let’s get ready for the harvest this autumn! Come and enjoy our beautiful venues, make new friends, spend some quality time with God, and benefit from insightful teaching.

Paul set his practical advice within the framework of three stunning affirmations of the gospel. Discover how the grace of God appears, giving eternal life and the strength for everyday living. Wed 23 November Waverley Abbey House £38.50 including lunch (9.30am – 3.30pm) Turn to page 7 for details of our Advent Supper, taking place this evening, led by Phillip Greenslade.

The Bible in a Day

The intriguing book of Ezekiel is not so much a book to be intellectually de-coded as imaginatively experienced. So join us and discover how Ezekiel, like all prophets, spoke more than he knew, addressing a dispirited people, and giving them hope of the recovery of the presence of God. Explore New Testament scripture, which has its roots in this strange prophetic writing, and see how Ezekiel’s words were momentously fulfilled.

Whether you are a mature Christian or fairly new to the faith and wondering how it all fits together, this course provides an accessible overview of the story, themes and priorities of the Bible. Come and examine how God’s Word works in our daily lives, and be inspired to discover its treasure for the rest of your life.

Christ Empowered Living

WE CAN COME TO YOU

During this foundational day course you will explore how God designed our personalities to function along with our three deepest needs, discuss some of the major issues that block the flow of Christ’s power in our lives, and question how we can deepen our dependence on God.

Seven Laws for Life This dynamic three-hour seminar considers the seven key elements of a successful Christian life. Through biblically based teaching, discover ways of cultivating an effective prayer life, keeping our faith alive through difficult circumstances, helping others, moving past hurt and bitterness into a place of forgiveness and overcoming doubt and fear.

Understanding Yourself, Understanding Others The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® is an effective tool for exploring our preferences and differences to help develop greater awareness and appreciation of our own and others’ God-created uniqueness. This one-day introduction will enable you to build more godly relationships, helping you to enjoy a less stressful and more rewarding life. 16

teaching – it gave me time to reflect and take things in.’

The Bible in Two Hours This seminar is perfect for an evening or Saturday morning. Your team or small group will enjoy an eye-opening overview of the Bible, which serves as a great foundation to Bible reading. Learn about the major turning points, discover how it all fits together and question why God acts as He does.

TAILOR-MADE TEACHING We offer tailor-made training for: • Small group leaders (including topics such as leading effective discussions or Bible study, understanding group dynamics, stages in the life of a small group, pastoral care) • Church leaders (including topics such as how to preach, coaching others) • The whole church (including topics such as discovering spiritual gifts, hearing God’s voice).

Being a Secure Woman – in an Insecure World This (day, half-day or one hour) seminar unfolds the principles of becoming a secure woman in God – whatever your stage of life or circumstances. If you long to be a godly influence in your family, church and community, this insightful course will help you in furthering God’s purposes in your life.

Designed for Living Our culture promises, but fails to deliver, true fulfilment. Be challenged to surrender the ‘designer lifestyle’ to the Christ-empowered style of living intended for us by our Creator God. This one-day seminar looks at how to deepen our dependence on God, resolve personal problems and satisfy our deepest longings.

Seasons We all experience seasons – times of activity, rest, fulfilment, deprivation and loss. This half-day seminar explores how learning to understand and live in harmony with the seasons of life is vital if we are to work with God.
