Session 1: The Bible — God’s written Word Icebreakers Which is your favourite Bible passage? Try to name all the books of the Bible. Key thought The Bible is the inexhaustible written revelation of God and therefore to neglect it is to weaken our spiritual lives. Session 3: The role of the Holy Spirit
15—20 March
Icebreaker Who is your favourite character from the Old Testament?

Key thought God has given us His Spirit to help us understand His Word.
Prayer pointers • Pray for the fullness of the Holy Spirit, that you may fully understand God’s Word. • Pray that God would open your eyes to see wonderful things in His law.

Session 4: Praying for insight Icebreaker Write some biblical words backwards in large letters and ask people to identify them (eg, reconciliation). Similarly, to understand the Bible requires a degree of effort, attentiveness and insight. Key thought It is essential that we approach the Bible prayerfully. It cannot simply be understood by human reasoning, but by spiritual insight. We can only fully comprehend God’s Word with God’s help.

The example of Jesus ‘Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.’ Luke 22:42 Prayer pointers • Ask God that He would help you focus on Him and not be easily distracted. • Establish a habit of praying for insight when you open your Bible.

Key thought Meditation on God’s Word takes biblical truths and makes them working realities in our lives.
