Job Purpose  To maintain Waverley Abbey House, the East Wing and the Woodlands at a satisfactory level of upkeep.  To ensure that all Buildings and Facilities used in CWR’s work at Waverley are well looked after and are fit-for-purpose.  To carry out the smooth day-to-day preparation of the Conference room set-ups and to maintain the equipment and meeting rooms to an agreed standard.

Key Tasks  To maintain the buildings and grounds of the Main House and East Wing to a high standard, both inside and outside, ensuring regulatory compliance with the relevant Health & Safety, Fire and Electrical regulations.  To be ‘on call’ for Main House and East Wing alarm activations and any maintenance emergencies liable to impact the operation of Waverley Abbey House (within reasonable hours).  To meet monthly with the Business Manager and Purchasing Supervisor to plan and progress any required maintenance and facilities activity.  To liaise on a regular basis with the Conferencing Supervisor regarding any faults or repairs needed within the Main House and East Wing.  To check and action the Front Office Maintenance Log on a regular basis.  To attend to and repair any water and drainage leaks around the Estate (including the Woodlands) in respect of gutters, drains, pipes etc.


 To undertake small to medium maintenance tasks including painting and minor repairs.  To liaise with outside contractors in respect of regular maintenance contracts and any larger contracted repair and refurbishment work.  To ensure that all works are carried out in harmony with the activities of the business of CWR and in consultation with House staff.  To carry out all meeting room and furniture set ups on a daily basis for conference and training group bookings and to stock all water machines daily, maintaining appropriate levels of bottles and cups as required.  To set-up, check and clean all projection, audio and video equipment in line with the regular maintenance schedule.  To maintain the appearance of the entrances; main, coffee bar and restaurant to the agreed standard, in particular to keep them free from leaf debris, litter and weeds.  To ensure all wall lights, lamps and bulbs throughout all buildings are in working order and replaced as necessary, reordering stock as required.  To undertake small gardening tasks in the immediate vicinity of the House.  Any other reasonable tasks that may be requested by your line manager or as required by the needs of the business. 3.

Standards by which performance may be measured  Safe, clean and well maintained premises and grounds.  Efficient work, good time-keeping and effective outcomes.  Importance of a fast and consistent response to ‘out-of-hours’ emergencies.  Working within and keeping to a pre-determined expenditure budget.  Ability to obtain ‘best-price’ for contracted work without contravening ethical, fair trade and biblical principles.
