1. Job Purpose: ¾ Provide editorial project management, co-ordination and oversight of all projects throughout the production process in conjunction with the Director of Publishing. ¾ Establish and maintain good relationships with freelance contractors and ensure our products are produced to a high standard. 2. Key Tasks: ¾ Liaise with the Director of Publishing and the Senior Designer in areas of planning and scheduling to ensure efficient editorial production. ¾ Day-to-day management and development of editorial staff including weekly workloads. ¾ Commission and manage approved writers, editors, and proofreaders. ¾ Liaise with the Director of Publishing particularly when commissioning products. ¾ Ensure all edited text supplied to design by scheduled dates. ¾ Edit and proofread text and to ensure accuracy, give final editorial check to products before printing. ¾ Attend and contribute to meetings planning new products.
¾ Arrange review of unsolicited manuscripts submitted for publication in liaison with the Director of Publishing. ¾ Maintain good relationships with freelance contractors and with team of designers. ¾ Develop and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of Christian writers. 3.
Standards by which performance may be measured: ¾ Efficient management and development of the editorial team ¾ Developing and maintaining professional relationships with external and internal contacts ¾ Timely completion of editorial projects ¾ Maintaining a high standard of accuracy within editorial projects
