L
ooking back, it occurred to me that I always knew I was destined to be an interior architect. I attribute my love of design to my mother’s influence as I was exposed early on to ever changing interiors which made me acutely aware of the aesthetics surrounding me. I watched the effect of my mother’s love for interiors and how it altered the world around me which provoked an unprecedented inspiration that I feel with not much else. The Day I gave into this reality was the day I realized the purpose of my life was to design beautiful and functional interior environments just like my mom. And that’s exactly what I set out to do. Through design I could influence people’s behaviors, their moods, and their overall experiences. The effect you have on others is the most valuable currency there is because ultimately we are the light that shines through, we are the connectors to the way people experience this world. Conversations I have had with my dad, a world traveler, art collector, and project director of some of the most respected architecture in the world, are laced with observations of artist, designers, and even green building. This influence has lead me to love certain styles and allowed me to create my own sense of beauty and function through my studies. When I graduated college in 2010 with a BS in Business Project Management, I knew I loved what I had been studying. The skill set I acquired through my studies and experience in project management will forever be one of my strongest assets. In discovering that I could fold the two into one career, I began my pursuit to change direction. Giving into my true creative self, while holding on to my business skills, has put me in a unique position to pursue my dream career as an interior Architect. Interior Architecture and Design unleashes my creativity and directs me toward the artist I have always imagined myself to be. I’ve found myself through design. Life doesn’t happen to you, it happens for you. Through this crazy journey I’ve learned a few things worth sharing. You will only ever have two choices; love or fear. Choose love. And don’t ever let fear turn you against your playful heart. Risk being seen in all of your glory. You can fail and what you don’t want, so you might as well take a chance at doing what you love. So many of us choose our path out of fear disguised as practicality, what we really want seems impossibly out of reach and ridiculous to expect so we never dare to ask the universe for it. I’m the proof that you can ask the universe for it. I hope you enjoy my portfolio, the first of many to come...

Shoreline Staion
T
he location, history and size of the Shoreline Station lends itself to a great revival. My plan is to not only restore the Shoreline Station but to re-think its design entirely. The overall vision for the space is to transform it into a functional bustling destination location; a culinary and retail hub for tourists and a multi-use gathering place for
locals with an aesthetic that compliments the beauty of the landscape in Half Moon Bay. Embracing the current great commercial design including artisan restaurants, quaint wine bars, independent retail spaces, and innovative art galleries the new design will bring this to the cool California coastline and all the nature along it’s terrain. Half Moon Bay is an extraordinary place and deserves extraordinary design. From a designer’s standpoint, The Shoreline Station provides the ideal template, for a culinary Mecca that works hand in hand with the city’s current campaign to promote agritourism. As it is now, the space is closed off to the public and is in desperate need of revitalization. The interiors need to be

gutted, walls need to come down, entries need to relocated and the best view needs to be exposed. The new design will facilitate tasting, mingling, dining with views, and shopping. The Farmers Market is currently held at the large parking lot of the site, and it will be integrated into the design of the indoor space as well. The restaurant at the site will be upgraded and expanded vertically and will offer outdoor dining and lounging. The new design for the site will be approached in an environ-mentally sustainable way and will take advantage of what the surrounding nature has to offer including the use of local materials, warm sun, and cool breezes. The design will also borrow several concepts from case studies of the Ferry Building in San Francisco, California with a nod to its use of a wide central nave and open shops. It will also be utilizing design techniques to make the space more inviting and pleasing to the user for example, bringing the most valuable material into the space - natural light.

Feeling the pressure of the economic slump from 2008 to 2012, the owners of the Shoreline Station have decided to sell this complex. A group of developers with an interest in contributing to the cultural wealth of the city of Half Moon Bay have agreed to buy the complex and renovate it to be a culinary mecca and tourist hub. CONCEPT
MAZE The landscape around the site will dictate the design itself. Along the Shoreline station is a beautiful row of cypress and eucalyptus trees, bowing with the wind and framing the hillside. Observing them, one realizes how they inspire a sort of maze. They allow the light, breeze, and Fog to filter through this maze as It becomes the thread which will unite the design concept for the renovation of the Shoreline Station.

Their Scale, rhythm, and movement are inspiring. The cypress trees are also a valuable image to remember not only for its beauty and its reflection of coastal landscape but also as a design model towards building sustainably. hrough careful examination of the site, the final floor plans were conceived. Natural light is a huge influence in the design and was taken into careful consideration. Day lighting was studied and charted.

Taking a jump off from the adjacency matrices and taking a close look at the site and original floor plans, I came to the best possible organization of the space. As a result the renovation of the Shoreline Station has a new, highly

REPEATS ITSELF
I
t was Karl Marx that coined the term history repeats itself. we think of this phrase often as we’ve well learned from it, but particularly in this instance reviewing the history of the Cow Hollow neighborhood.
Previously an area occupied by dairy farms, I wanted to pay homageto this and apply that inference to Union Street Brew as the two have a distinct connection. What copmpliments coffee better than milk? On a land now occupied by cupcake shops, clothing boutiques, and sports bars, there existed hundreds and hundreds of cows, supplying
•
milk to the growing population of San Francisco. With that in mind, I wanted to bring to the space the different cultures that were part of the historical Cow Hollow and define the celebration of coffee peppered with historical innuendo’s to the towns legacy. Since coffee itself has such a rich history and is explored not only for drinking but also with cuisine and aromatics, I chose textures which play to French press filters and a color pallet that speaks to lattes and espressos with a pop of cow hide to tie it all back to the history of the location. he library is a space for complete collaboration, creativity and putting together project pallets. The brainstorming walls allows us to pin point industry trends and collaborate in a very informal way, while the project rooms allow for a private space for project teams to get together and collect all of the project work such as sketches, mood images, program diagrams , materials, etc. The space is equipped with a window wall facing the east to allow for natural light to flood the room and create the perfect lighting for exploring color pallets. This also saves energy during the day to avoid the use of artificial lighting.
