Hawkeye Downs Season Opener
The thirty-two rider 250C class.
Cedar Rapids, Iowa - May 12 By Tracy Petrak Photos by Missi Thede
T
he first race of the 2012 season at Hawkeye Downs was on Saturday, May 12th. The weather and the turnout of riders were perfect. The stands filled up, the bikes and quads took their place in staging, and a new season was off and running. When you hear the 250A class get ready for the gate drop, you can actually feel every single rev of those engines. This is what every motocross rider, spectator, family member and like wait for each and every race. 250A consisted of nine riders. Shooting over the gate and around the first turn, #504 Jeremy Kress took the lead without skipping a beat. He held on to take the win with Kurt Mccabe and Brennan Myers to cross the finish line after. During the second moto there was a great battle with McCabe and Kress throughout the track. Back and forth these two show stoppers gave the audience a stand up production of what a
race is all about. In a turn coming to the finish line, McCabe and Kress were side by side when Kress jumped over the berm and went head on into the fence. McCabe took the lead and Kress gained his composure, jumped back into the race in third position. McCabe took the win as Kress made his way to take second place over the finish line. Bobby Hanson finished third. All of the 250A riders are to be commended for giving the spectators a great show. Now imagine that feel of the motors revving at the gate and instead of nine bikes, the line up of 250C consisted of thirty-two riders. Yes, thirty-two bikes on the starting line and this type of racing you just tense up and wait for. When the gate dropped and the class jetted out to that first corner, that is where you see the sur- +40 class riders battling for position. vival instincts take over. position of the leader was what Stone Schildroth decided that the he wanted and kept it to the fin-

ish line. Behind him came Austin Fulton and Cody Breiner respectively. You watch the rest of these great riders and each and every one of them had a position they were striving for. In the second moto Colton Mowry took the win but not without the pushing of Dillon Nail and Fulton. The overall win went to Fulton, then Mowry, Schildroth, Drew Peterson and Nail. Now with the weather going into a more summer pattern, all can only believe that the next race at Hawkeye Downs will be another great event. Nuclear Series Heating Up! Byron Illinois - May 12 By Josh Rud More photos at www.ShiftOnePhotography.com
S
unday the 13th of May marked the third round of the Nuclear Series at Byron Motorsports Park. The weather was amazing all day as were the track conditions. Last year the track was completely overhauled, and it is still receiving improvements. The facility at Byron is massive to say the least. With their main motocross track taking up the most space, there is also a second track known as the Hilltop track to contend with. Byron also offers a large area for camping, and is a great place to spend your Sunday afternoon. The motos were intense all day with the sun pouring down and 32 classes set to run between the two tracks. In 250A’s first moto there was plenty of action as Vaughn Mays came out in first place, Cory Catalani second and Kyle White third. For the second moto things got even more interesting. Off the start Catalani was out front with Mays right behind him in second and White third. Maxx Malatia started out strong, but fell coming into the downhill before the last turn, putting him in back. Daniel Sanders was racing hard as well and had some unfortunate luck dropping him behind. After a hard fought battle, on the last lap Mays was able to get around Catalani and come across the line for the win. Open A had some great racing as well, with much different results. The first moto came off the line with James Garrett taking the holeshot, Mays right behind him and Sam Long in third. On the third lap Malatia got past Long, only to have Long come right back to pass him in the woops section. Meanwhile Mays was trying every line to get by Garrett,

eventually getting by and checking out from the pack. Long was right on Garrett’s back tire on the final lap, but Garrett was able to hold out for second. The second moto started late in the day, and everyone was certainly getting worn out, but it didn’t show. Devon Adair came out front from the gates with Mays right behind him and Long in third once again. Justin Kelly came around the long straight and got past Long to take over third, but wasn’t able to hold it as Long got back by him soon after. Adair was holding the lead the entire race with Mays trying every chance he got to get around before a flat tire dropped him back into the pack. Long was now in second with
Kelly still third. They came across the checkered flag with Adair taking the win as Jared Schudel finished fourth. Long’s grabbed the overall with a third and second place, Adair was second (6-1) and Schudel rounded out the top three (5-4). Mays with his unfortunate bike problems ended up eighth overall. Another large group of riders came out for 250B and Open B classes, twenty-three in 250B and seventeen in Open B. In the first moto of 250B Cody Vanbuskirk held on to first place, Nicholas Inman in second and Austin Das in third. Neither Inman or Das started the second moto allowing for anything to happen in the second moto. When the gates came down

Vanbuskirk took the holeshot. After the second turn Beau Hayes was in second place just leading Brady Neys. With everyone still packed close together they came down the hill to finish the first lap and Richard Turner had moved up to third. Vanbuskirk and Hayes were battling hard the entire race changing positions through turns only to have Vanbuskirk come out ahead. Flying over the line on the white flag Hayes made a bold move and got by Vanbuskirk, but they hit eachother in mid-air, both going down off the side of the track. Hayes was not noticeably injured, but pushed his bike to the pits, Vanbuskirk on the other hand, took right back off getting in second place behind Turner. All this drama allowed Neys to move up to third place after losing a couple positions throughout the moto. Once the flag dropped Turner held onto first place. The overall points got Vanbuskirk the win (1-2), Turner second (4-1) and Neys third with a fifth and third finish. Open B came off the line with a lot of familiar faces from the 250 class. In the first moto Chris Antolak took the holeshot with Vanbuskirk right behind, and Beau Hayes in third. Vanbuskirk took the lead with Hayes second, Neys in third and Logan Skaggs moving into fourth. The flag came down without any change getting Vanbuskirk the win. The second moto had Hayes was out of contention from his crash in 250B, and several other riders having bike issues. The checkered flag flew with Vanbuskirk getting the win again, Neys in second and Ricki Williams third. Both Open and 250c had great races. Open C was up first with Matt Dziubinski taking the win with Paxton Kerber riding the only Husqvarna out there today, taking second and Jake Peterson third. The second moto started with David Rodgers taking the holeshot, Austin Hansen in second and Kyle Mitchell third. Dziubinski was running fast all day, but at the start he lost his back end and crashed, but worked his way back to tenth. Around the back section of the track Hansen and Kerber both 8

made their way around Rodgers. Kerber then went inside to take lead from Hansen and Peterson made his way around Rodgers to take over the third position. Kerber took the win. When the overall results were posted, Kerber got the win with a second and first place finish. 250C was dominated by Dziubinski, winning both motos. 65Jr and Sr were up at race seven. The first moto for 65Jr. had several exciting moments with Dj Gritzmacher taking the win, Brennan Wages in second and Brody Spiekerman third. In the second moto Wages jumped out front with the holeshot ahead of Tom Fortune and Ewan Krisch. Gritzmacher was able to get up into the lead, but had a small fall allowed Wages to take the lead back. Gritzmacher got back moving quickly and held his second position and Fortune finished third. The overall put Wages in first ahead of Gritzmacher. In the first moto for 65Sr Eddie Norred took the big win as Kaile Williams was second and John Greer third. The results were the same in the second moto. The 85Sr class had almost identical finishes for both motos as well. The first moto had Stuart Schwagerman taking first, Austin Macias second and Kar-
son Kokotan third. In the second moto Schwagerman took the holeshot with Jarren Berggren in second and Rj Mackenzie third. Kokotan managed to fly around everyone and get all the way to the front, taking over the lead.
Unfortunately he fell, allowing Schwagerman back into the lead. Macias moved to second and Berggren was third. Kokotan got up from his fall quickly and was flying around the track getting all the way back to third place, pass-
ing Berggren and battling hard to get around Macias. When they crossed the finish it was Schwagerman in first, Macias second and Kokotan third. The facilities out at Byron are certainly staggering to say the least. Having a very large track as well as a small Hilltop track for the 50’s and 4-wheelers, it’s made to accommodate everyone. Most races are on Sunday morning so once you finish your stadium race on Saturday night make the drive out to Byron and camp for the races in the morning! It’s the making of a great weekend, and getting in as much seat time as possible.

Aztalan “Double” Header Lake Mills, Wisconsin- May 12 By Sierra Dortch
T
he weather was perfect this weekend to kick off Aztalan’s first double header of the season. On Saturday (Triplecross racing), the track was perfect for the 360 entries. The sand added after last month gave some riders trouble in practice, but most seemed to figure it out by their first motos. Jordan Biese snagged the first holeshot of the day in the 50Sr. class. Biese had problems in the first lap, dropping back to fourth as Dylan Duclos took over the lead. Duclos held on with Eugene Wolff right behind until the end of the third lap where Biese passed both of them to regain the lead. Wolff paced Duclos until the last lap where his patience paid off. Wolff made his pass just before the finish, putting him in second. In the second moto, Biese pulled another holeshot and walked away. Duclos was in second but disappeared on the first lap and didn’t finish. Wolff picked up second place with a gap between him and Mitchell Malaney who finished third.
The extra sand in the whoops didn’t slow anyone in Open C.
Shane Cooper (156) battling with Kyle Whysol.
After the second moto, Biese said, “It wasn’t really hard. On the start I kind of hit the gate but I was wide open through the back
section. It was fun. I would like to thank DC, KTM Orange Brigade, Team Two, Fly Racing, Fantasy Moto, FMF, PMP, Amsoil, Skull Candy, my mom, dad, and brother.” In the always impressive Sportsman B/C class, Tylor Skodras took the lead from the start and gapped the rest of the pack. Taylor Strauss was in second place, fending off Kail McCormack who was under the gun from Kyle Pallin. Jason Bernhardt was close behind Pallin where they battled until the end. Skodras kept his lead and Strauss started to distance himself from the rest of the class. The moto ended with Skodras winning, Strauss in second, McCormack third, and Pallin fourth. Skodras pulled another great holeshot in moto two with Bernhardt right behind him. Strauss and Pallin worked up, passing Bernhardt to finish second and third by moto’s end. In +50, Thomas Dretzka got the holeshot. Dretzka gained some distance on Jeff Ramsay who stayed in second. Tim Boblin was ahead of Scott Lemke at the start, but by the time they came around to the plateau on the first lap, Boblin was ahead in third. At the holeshot in moto two, Ramsay squeaked by Dretzka. It didn’t last though as Dretzka turned it up, and got around him soon after and then rode on for another moto win. Matthew Menzer led Open A through the holeshot in the first moto. Coming over the plateau, Menzer was CYCLE USA, June 2012

already starting to gap the rest of the class. Tyler Smulders was in second but Ryan Hughson wasn’t planning to let him keep it. About half way through the second lap, Hughson got around Smulders bringing Dillon Kau along with him. On the third lap, Smulders got around Kau, and then on the fourth, took second place away from Hughson. Towards the end of the fourth lap, Smulders started to distance himself from Hughson and the rest of the pack. On lap five, Mathew Maier flew past Hughson into second place. Smulders was nowhere to be seen and had apparently gone down. The race ended with Hughson in third, Kau fourth and Jacob VanEss in fifth. Maier won the second moto with Menzer in second, Hughson in third and VanEss fourth. Michael Powers pulled the first holeshot in Open C with Daniel Kraemer and Derek Nell right behind him. By the time the pack got to the plateau, Kraemer was the new leader with Powers closely following. When Powers came around the start on the next lap, he was in third place with Nell having found a line around and into second. When they reached the plateau, Shane Cooper had made his pass on Powers and was bar to bar with Nell as they went over the jump. Cooper won that battle and moved up to second. During the last lap, Carter Crowley made a pass on Nell and they finished with Kraemer first, Cooper second, and Crowley in third. Cooper got the holeshot in the second

Korn was first through the holeshot in the second moto with Jim Beckman right behind him. Flancher passed both of them on the first half of that lap, leading them over the plateau. When Beckman came around the start on the second lap, he was back to third place with Korn ahead of him. Beckman followed Korn closely until the end of the lap where he made his pass. Beckman and Korn went at it for the rest of the race. Beckman won the battle, putting him in second at the finish and Korn in third. Flancher walked away with a seemingly easy win. Congratulations to Jacob VanEss on his first A class win! His victory came in the fast 250A class. “It was a little challenging, but I just stayed focused, just rode my race, and had fun. I had a lot of confidence when I made a pass in the last corner of the last lap for the win in the first moto. That kind of helped me out for the second moto which kind of put a little pressure on me to win again, but I got off to a great start and just never looked back. I would like to thank my mom and dad, my Uncle Wayne, my Uncle Dennis, H.J. T
he day started out peaceful, dry. All the hills, off cambers, and some real challenging trail along with the addition of a new finish line log (34”) with little to no dirt ramp, made for a technical course, and it was to be a great race day. The 65 beginner class rolled off the line and found a nice trail ready for some serious racing. Jay Pelka holeshotted and had Blake Phelps hot on his heals. Phelps passed Pelka and the race was on until the end where Phelps won by mere four seconds over Pelka. Zach Green on his Fox Valley Cycles Honda finished third as Micah Allman and Conner Mabus filled the top five. The 65cc class was won by RCR’s Garrett Ward as Eli Otterbach and Autumn Torres completed the podium. On the bigger minis, Mason Schuhler (301), Blake Ryan, and Matt Mcdonald had a good battle early, all attempting and conquering the new finish line log. Schuhler gradually pulled away with the win in the 85cc class. Ryan pushed hard for a second and Doug Propper Jr. took third. Mcdonald won SuperMini. Gratefully the 50cc, 65cc and all youth classes were done early in the morning at these races. Some where around 10:15am a clap of thunder was heard in the distance. Next up, +50A, B class all the C classes, Women, Thumper, and Vintage riders were to find their way onto the track. That often heard adage, “$8500. dollar race bike, I am not getting it muddy.” Well that isn’t heard in Hare Scramble racing. The old guys are lined up and those big drops start to pop. You know the ones that if hit by about three you are completely soaked. The flag was unfurled and off they went. Line after line. We got to the Women’s line and it was hardly visible as those big drops of rain have become a down pour. About a half of lap was dry and then it became greasy, snotty clay and dirt/ mud combination. The hills were ok for about the first ten riders, the others, well it became a parking lot. In this type of racing it is about conquering the course as much as beating the guy next to you. 77 riders left the line, 62 at 14

ternoon race in the B class! 2.5 hours or determination right there. Mud is called the great equalizer. Well today’s little jaunt in the woods sure makes that statement ring loud and clear. Last but certainly not least. Cody Bollinger (27). Today he simply dominated. The morning big bike riders endured pouring rain, super slick hills, and Cody started the afternoon race with no rain, but all the presents a hour race has to offer prior to his. Axle deep ruts, not one spot on the course dry. Hills all chewed up, roots exposed, the word nasty comes into play again. It was clear today this young man has done his home work, and was going for “extra credit” today. Bollinger dominated so much that he only also lapped Alec Perry, and Ryan Moss. Perry is another hot shot coming up in the ranks and Moss is an experienced and groomed AA rider. Travis Ward was the last rider to be lapped by Bollinger, only to “un-lap” himself at the finish line. Bollinger’s lapping practically the entire group, all of which are either AA, A , of B riders, is a real statement. Forty-five riders started this afternoon big bike race, ninety minutes later thirty-seven rode enough to get a finish. Iron man award this day goes to Matt Dissell, with a shoulder that kept popping out, he endured the race event, stopping a few times to “pop it back in”. Determination second to none right there. At the end of the day there were some tired and muddy riders sitting back and discussing the course. The “Big” finish line log seen only a few attempt it. The conditions made that skeptical at best. Other notable happenings of the day, the race kids. After a full hour Cody Bollinger put in a dominating or so of racing on the early morning ride for the day’s overall win. dry course, they sure weren’t going to let all the old people have all the fun. D23 Motocross comes to Kellogg Kellogg, Minnesota - April 29 By Dusty Rose
S
unday April 29th was a cool hazy day in Kellogg, MN. The Motokazie crew had both the main and mini motocross tracks ready for racing. With over 220 entries for thirtynine classes, the gates were ready to drop. In the first Women’s moto, Jacqueline Riess popped out to take the holeshot. Jessica Hansen and Allison Larson stayed close in second and third place. The ladies were steady and smooth going into lap two with Riess still maintaining the lead. Larsen gave it some more throttle and pulled ahead of Hansen to take over second. Kyra Boaz and Sophie Johnson settled into the fourth and fifth place positions. In lap four Larsen was gaining ground on Riess. The two had a few lappers to get around, and Riess could feel Larsen closing in, but Riess kept her focus on the checkered flag and took the win, followed by Larsen and Hansen. In the second moto Riess took the holeshot again followed by Hansen and Larsen. As the second lap started Riess was beginning to pull away. Hansen
and Larsen were side by side when Larsen made the decision to take a berm high and it worked as she flew by Hansen to finish second. Aaron Sperling sped out and grabbed the holeshot in the 125cc +12 class first moto. Kyle Lawler gave it all he could through the whoops section, also known as the dirty dozen, and passed Sperling for the lead. Sperling tried to keep it close, but Lawler rode a flawless race and took the checkered flag first followed by Sperling and Stephen Kassel on his Honda. In the second moto Lawler snatched the holeshot and had clear sailing through out the race. Lawler crossed the finish line six seconds ahead of the Sperling on his Yamaha. One of the most exciting races of the day was the first moto of the Open A & B, run as a combined class. Broc Graif took the holeshot followed by William Doane and Conner Cummingham. Luke Routh, Jay Sallstrom and Nick Carter kept close. In the second lap Cunningham took over first place with Graif and Doane right on his back tire. Six riders flew around the track, tire to tire. Each looking to execute a pass. As
Conner Cunningham won his Open B class.

Jacqueline Riess took the win in Women's +12.
Cunningham got some breathing room, Doane’s whoops technique payed off and he passed Graif. The last lap Cunningham kept the lead as Doanes finished second and Nick Carter passed Graif for the third spot. The day provided some great District 23 motocross races. Mothers Day at Hangtime Akron, Indiana - May 12-13 By Becky Stichter
Ricky Martinez and Quinton Camp in Open A on Sunday.
R
eads Racing Unlimited had a full weekend. They hosted an NMA qualifier, and had special events for Mother's day. The weather and track were perfect for both days of racing. Braap Creative was at the track for the weekend, and gave t-shirts to the holeshot winners. Saturday morning action began with the big quads on the track. In the first moto, Gilford Miller Jr. was out of the gates first, followed by Kristopher Gluth and Eric Hoffman. Miller was able to pull ahead of the others, but had Hoffman, Zach Evans and Evan Foster coming up from behind. Hoffman had some problems, and was a DNF. Foster worked his way up to second, nudging past Gluth. Miller crossed the checkered flag first, followed by Foster and Gluth. In moto two, Miller was again the leader, and finished there for a perfect sweep. Hoffman, having better luck this moto, rode hard and pulled into second place, followed by Gluth and Evans. Hoffman was able to finish second as Gluth and Evans battled it out for third place. Gluth held on, and finished ahead of Evans. The 250A class was small, but had some fast riders to keep the excitement level high. Jeffrey Henson, mounted on a Honda, proved to be the fastest in the group today, running 11. Adam Lock and Quinton Camp had good rides as well, but couldn't stop Henson.
Trevor Colip won 50cc (7-8) Saturday.

CYCLE USA, June 2012
In the first moto of the 125cc 2-stroke only class, John Earl, mounted on a Yamaha, was the first out of the gates. Brandon Yeiter was right there putting pressure the entire race, but Earl was able to hold Yeiter off. In the second moto, Yeiter was out of the gates first, getting pushed hard by Earl. Yeiter held Earl off for about half of the race before Earl slipped by for another win and the clean path to the day’s overall. Trevor Colip of the 50cc (7-8) class had his Cobra humming as he zipped around the track. Colip had a comfortable lead both motos, finishing 1-1. Colton Camp and Clayton Strunk rode well, just off the pace for second and third. The 14/24 class also had some fast riders as usual. In the first moto, Stephen Wilson was out of the gates first. Jeffrey Thode Jr. was riding nearly bike to bike with Wilson right from the start. Benjamin Richards was just behind the leaders, and put pressure on them as well. Wilson maintained his lead for about the first two laps before Thode opened

up the throttle, passed, and took off. Thode crossed the checkered line first, followed by Wilson and Richards. In the second moto, Thode was out of the gate first and opened the throttle hard again. Richards and Levi Johnson were riding fast, and trying to put some pressure on the leader. Thode rode solid and was able to finish 1-1. Richards and Johnson battled it out for second the entire race. Richards was ahead of Johnson for about half the race, then Johnson passed him in a turn and pulled ahead. Johnson finished second this moto. Levi Johnson was out on the track again riding in the 250C class. Johnson finished 11, followed by Nick Myers and Kody Elder. Behind the first three riders, Jared Meranda and Joseph Hagemeier battled it out for fourth place, with Hagemeier finishing ahead of Meranda. Throughout the afternoon, anyone who wanted to make a tie-dye shirt (for mother's day) was able to do this by the registration/ snack area. The staff of Reads Racing likes to keep a family friendly atmosphere, so thought this would be something fun for folks to do. There were some pretty neat looking shirts hanging around that day! After the races were done, there was an open ride for several hours. Many riders took advantage to get some extra seat time, and looked like they were having a great time. Sunday, Mother's day, was another beautiful day for racing. The quads were on the track first again, followed by the big bikes. The 250C class was one of the larger groups today. In moto one, Kody Elder was first out of the gates, closely followed by Ian Wilmington and Kyle Renkenberger. Elder was
able to keep the lead the entire race. Renkenberger worked his way around Wilmington for a second place finish. In the second moto, Keegan Hicks, Joseph Hagemeier and Kyle Renkenberger battled for first. Hicks got into a rhythm, and took the lead, and win this moto. Renkenberger and Hagemeier came in behind Hicks. Renkenberger’s consistent second place finishes took the overall win. In the Supermini class, Hunter Weaver, mounted on a Honda ran to 1-1. Joshua Taylor, Konner Graddy and JW Bright battled it out for the next positions. In the first moto, Taylor was able to pull ahead, taking a second place finish ahead of Graddy. In moto two, JW Bright stepped it up, and finished second, followed by Chase Boykin. In the 65cc (7-9) class, Colton Camp took charge, winning both motos ahead of Addison Wilmington and Kamden Graddy. There were only two Open A riders today, but it was fun to watch these two race! Spkye's KTM rider Quinton Camp, and Ricky Martinez rode bike to bike both motos. There was no room for any mistakes in this race as Camp took the wins. There was also a Mother's day race today. Any mother who wanted to participate was allowed to race for free. For racing families, where else would you want to be on Mother's day? Reads Racing is building a second track here at the same facility, called H2, and it is scheduled to open next weekend.

aturday the 26th of May was the first day of the two part Loretta Lynn Qualifier at Sunset Ridge MX in Walnut, Illinois. This was the last of fifty qualifiers that took place in thirty-two states. Once again this weekend sees near record high temperatures making for some intense racing. The track at Sunset Ridge has gone through some over-hauls, adding new sections and smoothing out other areas. Despite the heat, the racing and track conditions flowed smoothly all day without missing a beat. Watering and grooming while the riders were at different points of the track kept the races going all day without a pause. Riders were here from all over the country to qualify, lots of new faces out there, and some familiar top finishers like Travis Sewell and Chase Sexton. The gates were packed in most of the races, with riders showing up to get their chance at making regionals. The A classes not being any different had twenty-four riders in 450 and twenty-six for 250. In 450A, Travis Sewell coming off running the Supercross series, came through with the win with Jesse Pierce out of New Jersey taking second, and Dakota Robins third. In the second moto Sewell flew out of the gates, taking the holeshot, with Ted Pauli right next to him and Greg Durivage in third. Robins
was able to get by Durivage to take over third charging up on Pauli with Sewell starting to create a pretty big gap right away. Pierce almost out of nowhere made his way around several riders, including Robins to take over third. Then on the tight turn Pauli bobbled and Pierce and Robbins dropped him to fourth. Pauli fought back hard and did take over third for a lap, but Robins got back around him making the final order the same as the first moto. 250A brought back some of the same riders. The first moto started with Scott Zont flying around the outside to grab the holeshot, Pierce in second and Brent Miller third. Halfway through Miller fell allowing Justin Kelly to move into third with Durivage right behind him. Pierce trying inside and outside lines found a way around Zont taking over the lead while Kelly and
Indiana’s Sean Miller won SuperMini 1 with 2-1 moto finishes.
Durivage are passing back and forth. The flag waved with Pierce in first, Zont second and Durivage third. In the second moto Pierce took the

As always the B class had a great showing, with a large group in 450 and even larger in 250. The 250’s where up first with thirty-six riders revving at the line. The first moto had Jace Owen jump out into the lead, Cody Mcculloch in second and Nicholas Inman third. The second moto came out with Owen grabbing the holeshot, and never looking back. In the second moto Jason Gepford got out front with the holeshot, but Neumann was right on him and passed him going up the first hill, with Davis in third. Jeff Janowski was on a mission the entire race moving up all the way to second place, bumping Davis to third after he had just taken over second from Gepford. For the overall Nuemann took first place, Janowski with second and Davis taking third. Schoolboy was the first race of the day, and with twenty-four fast riders taking the gates anything could happen. In the first moto Darren Walsh, from Ohio took first with Andy Kost second and Josh Osby third. In the second moto, once again Walsh took the holeshot with Kost and Will Markolf right behind him. Osby was trying hard to get around Markolf, and finally found an inside line to take over third leaving the final order exactly the same as the first moto. Today was a great day of racing. The track out at Sunset Ridge is a great motocross track to visit. It comes with everything you could ask for, the long straights, hills and plenty of jumps. The track crew was out in full force keeping everything watered all day so it never got dusty, and the riders were out putting on a great show. The regionals roll around in June, and we wish everyone the best of luck. T
he Pleasure Riders Motorcycle Club opened the District 15 and 17 Hill Climb season on April 28th. Despite the cold, wet weather, the club signed up the most riders in their long history of hill climb events. 193 entries competed on Saturday night with 173 returning to ride on Sunday. Joe McGurer was the top rider at both events, taking the wins in the 600cc class and claiming both Fast Time Awards. His 3.561 second time on the 155 foot hill on his first ride held up Saturday night for the win, with Matt Peters his closest challenger with a 3.588 time to win the +40 class. On Sunday, McGurer was even faster, posting a 3.556 on his first ride in the 600cc class to win that class again. Greg Dunbar was his closest challenger with a 3.597 second run in the 600cc class. The Wheelwright family had an excellent weekend. Morgan Wheelwright had a perfect night Saturday, winning all three classes she entered and claiming the Youth Fast Time award. Riding her RM85 Suzuki, Morgan topped the hill in 4.495 seconds to take the 85Sr class win. Dakota Watson was her closest competitor with a 4.513 second run in the class. Riding her YZ125 Yamaha, Morgan sailed over the top in 4.538 seconds to take the win in the Women’s class, with Lakota ‘Shay’ Ashworth second in 4.563 seconds and Blair
Lawson third. Morgan brought her Yamaha back in the 125cc class and flew over the top in a sizzling 4.343 seconds to take that win, with Lucas Learnard second and Davis Kirklund third. Morgan also claimed the Women’s class win on Sunday to run her win total to four for the weekend. Morgan’s dad, Eric Wheelwright, also claimed four class wins for the weekend. Eric’s first win on Sunday came in the 450cc class where he set the early lead in the class with a 3.749 second time on his first ride, then followed with an even quicker 3.679 time for the win. Chris Huizenga posted a 3.763 time for second with Chad Altfillisch third. Bringing his CR450F back in the 600cc Four Stroke class, Wheelwright again took the first round lead with a 3.728 second time, but had to come from behind in the second round with a 3.619 second time to overtake Troy Camerer who had moved into the lead with a 3.681 second run on his Suzuki. Huizenga was third. Wheelwright got his third win of the day on his Honda in the +40 class with a 3.642 first round ride, only .001 seconds ahead of Wade Schultz. Andy Fortner was third with a 3.646 second time – only four thousandths of a second separating the top three riders. Eric also won the 600cc 4 Stroke on Saturday night to run his weekend win total to four. The Peters family did well also, as father Matt was a double winner on Saturday night, winning the 450cc and +40 classes. Son Levi claimed the 85Jr class win both days. In other Youth action, Brodie Bennett took

Right into the next turn Mack night was 250B. Right from the gate drop Aj dove into the huge inside rut and blasted Miksys took over first with the holeshot, around Poska and into second. Ricki Stephen Stocklen second and Harvey Bushby Williams moved into third, and on the next lap in third. Coming around the first turn Mack used the same rut to take over the lead Bushby’s front tire dug into the loose dirt on from Moore. took the holeshot with Trent Poska and Cody Johnson on his tail. Immediately in the straight, Poska got around Rossi. Coming over the table top on the first lap Johnson made his way around Rossi as well. Rossi made a mistake, and Alec Leasure and Derek Brueggert were next to slide by. Poska held first the entire race with Johnson second and Leasure in third. Open C was out later in the evening with twelve riders. Right off the line Johnson took the holeshot. Chris Christensen was running second ahead of Andrew Friebele. Behind them, Ryan Doyle went down hard. He ended up walking off, but fractured his collar bone which will unfortunately have him out for a while. Friebele fought hard with Christensen and got by him to take a second place finish with Johnson holding first the entire race. The 85cc class had a large turn-out tonight as well, and had some exciting racing as always. First up in 85 Beginner, Eric York took off out front with the holeshot. Timmy Evoy was in second and Zach Rossi in third before Ryan York flew around them all to take over first place; Evoy bobbled a bit allowing Rossi back into third. Brian Connelly came up hard behind Rossi leaving the final order with Ryan York holding first, Eric York in second and Rossi third. 85Jr kept things interesting. Nolan Dickinson on his 4-PR Suzuki took the holeshot and started to create a large lead. In third, Matt McDannel was going after Christopher Gallagher from all angles trying to get around. Patryk Pietrazak moved into third when McDannel fell. Last up was 85Sr., with Dylan Roesch taking the holeshot, Dannis in second and Eddie Lengwin third. Kevin Madden went over the bars, snapping his visor off. He got right back on his bike, ripped his visor the rest of the way off and asked if his nose was bleeding. I replied “yeah both sides are you alright?” He wipes it away and replies “yeah that really hurt!” and put his goggles back on and tore off like nothing ever happened. Meanwhile Dannis got by Roesch taking over the lead where he stayed the rest of the race. The 65’s were out in force tonight as well with some great racing from all classes. In 65 Beginner Justin Friebele grabbed the holeshot with Justice Mitsdarffer in second. In the second turn Mitsdarffer dove to the inside of Friebele to take over first place, and from out of the blue Ethan Eslinger goes cruising around everyone in the back triple section going all the way to the front taking the lead. Wyatt Mattson passed Mitsdarffer and Friebele to take over second. On the last lap Mattson caught up with Eslinger and got by him. The results came in with Eslinger in CYCLE USA, June 2012

Dickinson and Niven passed each other back and forth several times with Dickinson holding on to the lead at the end. Marshfield’s Annual D16 Motocross Marshfield, Wisconsin - May 20 By Doug Forstner
W
hat started out as a passion and determination by a local group years ago, now has a new plan of action. The T&T Riders hosted their annual motocross race at the track in central Wisconsin. The track that has been a mainstay in District 16 for decades has undergone several changes the past few years, and each year it all continues to improve. This year the crew added more culverts to divert water in case of rain. Along with the drainage improvements, numerous track changes included quite a few new jumps. 125Jr was the first to attack the track and the 125cc riders were doing just that, attacking it. A couple of great battles developed throughout the first moto. Local rider Jeffrey Stewart, Dennis Ponton and Jordan Schiller took to the front of the pack and started pushing each other pretty hard. Behind them was another great battle between Trevor Deedon, Cole Thomson, and Eliah Norman. At the half way mark, Ponton was pushing Stewart really hard for the lead. At the checkers, it was Stewart who held his composure to take the win over Ponton and Schiller. Deedon held on for fourth ahead of Thomson. In moto two, again Stewart jumped to the early lead and it was a remix of moto one, but on lap two Schiller made a lost some time in a slide out. On the very next lap, Stewart slid in the same spot allowing Ponton to take over the lead. Stewart quickly got going again and made chase of Ponton with Schiller close behind. On the final lap, Stewart was on the gas and made up time by tripling the sweeper double - double section, and closed on Ponton but came up short in his effort, allowing Ponton to take the overall. Stewart brought home second place followed by Schiller. Throughout the day, weather looked like it would play a factor as winds and clouds continued to pass through the area. Severe weather or possible thunderstorms were on target for the area, and of course it’s not Marshfield if it doesn’t rain either before or during the race. The track for the most part was dry, fast and hard packed and the occasional rain sprinkle made the surface sketchy at best. If you ever have raced on clay when it’s barely wet, you know throttle control is key. The 65cc class also presented the fans with some awesome racing. Getting the holeshot in moto one was another local rider from Stratford, Kevin Gollubske who made the jump from 50cc action this season. Gollubske rode very well out front despite the pressure from Sam Forstner and Mason Barth.
Those three riders started to gap the field and put on a heck of a race. At the checkers it was Forstner who finally made his way around Gollubske for the win. Barth was right there as well just ahead of Cody Gamble and Luke VanLyssel. Gamble went down right before the finish so VanLyssel was able to finish in fourth. In moto two Gollubske still wasn’t feeling the best from what I suspect was the flu bug, but soldiered on. He grabbed the holeshot again in moto two with Forstner and Barth hot on his heels. As Forstner was trying to make a pass on Gollubske on lap two, Barth found an opening and slid by Forstner for the runner-up spot. You could throw a blanket over the trio and for three laps they continued to all battle for the lead. On the final lap though, the trio headed into the back wooded sweeper area. The crowd was excited for the finish and as they exited the wooded area it
was Forstner with the lead. He led to the finish with Gollubske and Barth right behind him. It was the first 1-1 score for Forstner in his moto career and I think the first time he didn’t throw his mechanic under the bus. As I walked around the old facility taking pictures and watching the action, I thought about the history of the track and all the years that MX has been in the USA, and all of us had to begin somewhere at a beginner racing level at some time or another. This brings me to the biggest class of the day, 250C and they had a double row start. Unfortunately as the AMA computer randomly chooses gate picks for the first moto, some riders were not so lucky and had to start in row two. Reese Bakken was quick to get his Honda out front of the large pack. As the race unfolded, Bakken had his hands full with a Brendan Gille and Craig Flancher. Eliah Norman and Ben Griesbach were running top five and try-

ing to stay with the leaders. Just about anywhere you looked on the track some battle was ensuing. At the checkers it was Bakken followed by Gille and Flancher. Moto two was almost of repeat with Bakken finding his way to the front. This time Flancher got the best of Gille and beat him to the finish and second overall as well. Norman’s 4-5 scores were consistent and earned him forth overall ahead of Jerold Petroski’s 9-4 scores for fifth. Most of the classes dodged the rain. As rain rolled in on the start of my second +40 moto I thought to myself again, it wouldn’t be Marshfield without a little rain or in this case a small thunderstorm. When I came in from my moto about 40 pounds heavier from all the roost and

Heat doesn’t slow Bonneur Martinsville, Indiana - May 19 By Jeff Vanasdal
R
ound number two of the 2012 MAXC series was held in Martinsville, Indiana after an early season schedule change. Racers were greeted by humid 90 degree temperatures, tight woods sections, and some gnarly climbs that would take a lot of racers by surprise! With the dry conditions and the track being only seven miles long, one mistake meant fierce competition for the racers and great action for the fans. Kawasaki powered Adam Bonneur took the win in AA bike
with over a minute lead. Following on the podium was Zach Nash and Shawn Clark. The track conditions and lappers definitely played a factor during this race as two minutes separated the top three. The consensus from the podium was that the track was fun, and laid out well. Open A saw some close racing action as only two seconds separated the winner Duell Murphy and runner up Luke Chilman. Just a few seconds later Jesse Parr claimed the third place position. The first lap of this race caught many of the racers by surprise because even though the
area had been without rain for many days, there were some mud holes deep in the woods that could dampen your day if you weren't cautious. One particular hole received lots of attention as it was conveniently placed at the bottom of a nasty hill climb. The area was flooded with fans who were either eager to get muddy helping out. With an impressive rider turnout at this round, just about every class was a full line. In the Light B class, only two seconds separated winner Josh Keys and Preston Weiler. The largest class of the day was the Light C class with 34 entries! Competition was also very close in this class as only a few seconds separated Paul Miller, Zayne Boling, and Elliott Harris rounding out the top three. The youth bike were also great to witness. Mike Witkowski took home the win in the Supermini class, closely followed by Vincent Smith and Zack Meuron. Kayden Young won the 85cc class and Lance Maschino grabbed the win in the 65cc class. AA Quad saw the GNCC XC2 Champion Walker Fowler make his second appearance this season
Mike Witkowski won the Supermini class.
aboard his Ballance Racing Yamaha, and quickly become the rider in charge after Ryan Lane secured the holeshot. Fowler took over the lead after battling his way from a mid pack start. Finishing second to Fowler, Kevin Cunningham put in an impressive ride as he worked his way to the front, and shadowed Fowler the entire race. The conditions made for closing the gap on Fowler difficult. Cunningham found the checkered flag forty-right seconds after the leader. Brycen Neal set a blistering pace in A Quad, and after a grueling race, clinched his second win on the season. Neal won with over a two minute lead, and clearly is showing he will be the rider to beat in 2012. At the mid way point of the race, the competition was separating as the high humidity and ninety degree temperatures started taking its toll on the competitors. With a solid rider turn out and a shorter course, there was no room for error. In B 1524, three seconds is all that separated the top three with Joshua Huxhold claiming the win. Ben Krafft and Kellan Aspaugh joined Huxhold on the podium as the trio put in one of the closest races of the day.

D16 Hillclimb Season La Wisconsin Rapids, WI. - May 20 By Rose Dorcey
F
or all the successes that 24year-old Luke Parmeter has earned in his long hillclimbing career - including three AMA National Amateur Hillclimb Championships and the 2011 AMA Hillclimber of the Year award - the title of King of the Hill had eluded him. Parmeter finally put that to rest as he won the coveted award, and set fast time of the day at the District 16 season opening hillclimb at Dyracuse Motorcycle Recreation Park, south of Wisconsin Rapids, on May 20th. Sponsored by the Rapid Angels Motorcycle Club, the event was memorable for its heavy dust. A lack of rain leading up to the event aggravated the park’s trademark soft, sugary sand. Finding traction was key to victory on the rougher than usual hill.
Going into the King of the Hill shootout (for the day’s ten fastest riders) at the end of class racing, Parmeter had set the fastest time of the day with an 8.205 up the 290-foot hill. But things were about to change. Jacob Prebe, onboard his KTM 440 two-stroke, flew up the hill in 8.178 seconds, setting the new mark to beat. Not to be outdone, Mike Wood found a smooth line and launched his CR500 up with an even faster 8.126. Clearly excited by Wood’s new fast time, the crowd thought they had their winner. That was until Parmeter rode and set the only sub-eight second ride of the day. As he made his way up, Parmeter skimmed over the sand and never looked back. When the dust settled, the clock read 7.763. Parmeter had won his first ever King of the Hill. “I knew it was going to be tough, but I had a line picked out that

Luke Parmeter took home four victories and fast time of the day.
I thought would work,” Parmeter said. His win was a final cap to a great day of racing; he also won the 250, 450, and 750cc classes, was second in fourstroke, and third in 600. Red Wing, Minnesota’s Jacob Prebe took home some hardware by becoming a twotime winner for the day. He easily took the 600 class win on his Honda CR500 with an 8.316. He also dominated the 0-400 Stock class on his Kawasaki 250F with a 9.266. Prebe placed second in 450, and even held the fast time of the day for a while. Casey Wood, of Bay City, Wisconsin set a personal record by qualifying for her first King of the Hill run on her Honda CR250. Her third place finish in the 250 class, with a time of 8.783, was good enough to earn a spot in the King of the Hill competition. She also won the Women’s class, ahead of Jessica Prebe and Gabrielle Prebe. Casey’s dad, Mike, has obviously taught her well, and they shared the top podium spot when Mike won the Senior class with a time of 8.525 onboard his Honda CR500. Mini class racers showed spectators that there’s an exciting hillclimbing future in store as talented riders in even the Micro-Mini class scaled the steep hill to set respectable times. Bodee O’Neil clocked an 8.272 for first place and Cody Paider set a 10.664 for second.
Casey Paider, of Ellsworth, Wisconsin, had a great day, with wins in the 65cc and Mini Jr class, on his KTM 65 and KTM 85, respectively. His first round times held on for victory in both classes. Hager City, Wisconsin’s Bodee O’Neil (the reigning 65cc National Champ) got second behind Casey in both classes. know I always look forward to making the trip to what I consider one District 16’s best, and most natural tracks! The track has been around for years, and you can always expect the Uren family to keep the Northern Michigan sand watered, and prepped to a T all weekend. With their opening race weekend moving to May, the weather couldn’t have been more comfortable. After I watched the A classes on Saturday, I thought one name would sum it up… Adam Reek. He had his Team 2 Ktm’s getting just about every holeshot in both classes. Following those holeshots he was untouchable. The only other rider on his pace was Nate Laporte, who’s starts kept him behind on Saturday. At the end of the day I had wondered what would happen if those two could get out front together for once. On Sunday that question was answered in the first moto of 250A. Reek got his holeshot, but this time Laporte actually started right behind him and it was on! Laporte was all over him, making him work for it. By lap three Laporte was looking for a way around, and next lap he created enough pressure to have Reek make his own mistake right in front of him. Reek went to the inside and Laporte was trying to
make a move on the outside, Reek slid out and it was too late for Laporte to put the brakes on and Reek got tangled under Laportes bike and that ended Reek’s day. It then made Sunday Nate Laporte’s day, winning every moto in Open A and 250A. Other good rides in A class throughout the weekend came from Justis Heckendorf on his Honda, getting a second overall in Open A Sunday. Talon Bronk worked hard for a second in moto one of 250A Sunday, with this being his first year in A class. Nick Randrup put together a great weekend getting an overall win in the Open C class on Saturday and finishing second overall in 250C and Open C Sunday. Nick did some battling from some poor starts and making it through the pack to get up front. It was impressive watching him work through the pack. Saturday saw a really good battle in the 125Jr class. Each moto was almost identical, Colin Hass pulled the holeshot followed Hunter Sayles, who over the winter really grew to fit his new KTM 125. Behind him in moto one was Bubba Ponton. Hass held the lead till about lap two and Sayles made his way by and pulled a small lead. It would pretty much stay that way till the end. Moto two started out the same way but this time Hass put up a fight, and it took till the third lap for Sayles to put his KTM up front. Bubba Ponton and Jacob

Moreau battled it out till the finish before Moreau pulled off the third, giving him third overall and dropping Ponton to fourth. 250B on Saturday had great racing as well. Moto one saw AJ Woller grab the holeshot and pull a pretty good lead on during the first lap, but when the pack came back around it was Jacob Moreau with a huge lead on his Suzuki. Woller must have fell in the back section and he was third from last. Moreau cruised for the win with James Marietta in second as Woller hauled through the pack to an impressive third. Woller again got out front in moto two, this time checking out, and making up for his crash in moto one after getting the overall. Marietta locked up second place giving him second overall and Moreau went down, getting thirteenth, giving Aaron Gurchinoff third overall with a 9-3 score. 50Sr on Sunday had two kids that were just on another level! Rocco Gravedoni and Haiden Waelchli put on a clinic in both motos. They really separated themselves from the pack. In both motos it seemed like Haiden was going to get the holeshot but Rocco snuck out front. Haiden was hounding him in the moto one. Moto two was the same, except Haiden hit the ground hard, handing the win to Rocco and falling back to third by the time he got up. He made an impressive run to almost get second back at the line but Luke VanLyssel held the position. These kids were a blast to watch, blitzing the whoops and just hauling the mail. aturday, May 12th marked the second round of the 20th annual series here at Megacross. Luckily, the showers held off and a little watering led to perfect track conditions throughout the night. The 14-24 started of the night’s main events, and Logan Skaggs took the win after finishing second in his heat race. A pair of Kawasakis rounded off the podium with Matt Dissell taking second and Mark Marincic third. Dissell won in the Open B class and Marincic enjoyed another podium in 250B, locking in second place. Burton “Turbo” Lavens took the heat race win in the +35 class, but it was Joe Buskirk who landed the top spot, edging out Lavens in the main. In the Open A class Maxx Malatia nailed the holeshot and battled with Tommy Hofmaster at the front of the pack the entire moto. On lap three Kevin Markwardt went down, dropping out of third. On that same lap, Kyle White made a pass on Justin Kelly for fourth. Hofmaster closed on Malatia, and with the white flag waving, it was an intense battle. At the checkers Malatia held on for the win, followed closely by Hofmaster, Sam Long, Kyle White, and Justin Kelly who rounded out the top five. The 125cc two-stroke class is always a joy to watch and listen to! Robbie Hyson ripped the holeshot on his KTM as Nate McLeese and Cory Catalani were tearing it up #109 Ewan Krisch leads #19 James McDannel, #244 Kevin Huddleston and the rest of the 50Sr class.
#346 Brandon Marley, #681 Vaughn Mays and #39 Maxx Malatia lead Open A off the start.
in the beginning laps. On lap three Hyson went off the track following the double, double, step-up straight, after a pass from McLeese. Catalani moved into second, dropping Hyson back to third. The checkers fell as the top three finished in that same order. In the +40 class it was the #254 machine of Alex Rossetto that took the holeshot, and led all five laps. Ed Williams was holding second until he stalled the engine, and David Hayes capitalized to move into second, where he finished just ahead of Williams. Big names in the +25 class made for some fine racing action. Kelly, Hofmaster, White, Johnson, to name a few. Burton Lavens was the first rider to corner one, only to have Hofmaster take the lead on his Yamaha in the third corner. Justin Kelly got around Lavens and Hofmaster before the end of the first lap, but Hofmaster wasn’t giving up. Soon enough, Hofmaster passed Kelly for
the lead and opened up a comfortable lead. Brian White finished third aboard his Honda. There was a good turnout in all the “future of our sport” 50, 65, and 85cc classes. Moms and Dads were cheering and rooting them on. “Go, Go, Go!” Gotta give it up to the little guys and girls. The 250A riders are lined up, bikes revving. Kevin Markwardt rocketed his Honda off to a holeshot with Hofmaster second. Kyle White was putting in an excellent ride in third, and Maxx Malatia began coming up through the pack. With the white flag waving, Hofmaster and Markwardt battled back and forth, until Markwardt made a small mistake. This allowed White to make the pass on Markwardt for second as Malatia battled his way to forth, just ahead of Vaughn Mays on his KTM. A pair of Honda riders topped the Women’s class. Alyssa Haling landed on the top step of the podium in both the heat and the main. Taylor Venning was runner-up ahead of Kim Chandler. The Quad A, B, and C classes all dropped once with the Yamaha #74 of Billy Garrey leading the pack most of the way through lap one. A class rider Adam Koehler got around Garrey and took the win. Garrey went on to win the B class and Tyler Stenzel won the C class on his Suzuki. Great battles in the +30B/C class started with Zeno Molteni taking the lead and avoiding a big pile up in the first corner. Another pile up after the double, double straight added some chaos to the race, but Ryan George stayed clear of it and got by Brandon Boggio for second. Molteni pulled a comfortable lead for the win. George and Boggio were neck and neck at the end, for the last two spots on the podium. Nate McLeese jolted off the line in the CYCLE USA, June 2012

250B class, taking the holeshot. Mark Marincic made the pass on Stephen Stocklen late in the moto before the triple and locked in second place. McLeese cruised his way to an impressive victory. The turnout was so good, we had split classes in both Open C and 250C! Sixty plus riders between the two. Ryan Loy took the win in 250C1 aboard his Kawasaki, while the 250C2 top spot went to Tyler Kincaid. Open C1 winner Trevor Hayes took both the heat and main event wins, and Dustin Lindley was on the top step in Open C2. As always, Saturday night in Mendota delivered a spectacular night of racing. ith much warmer temperatures and the promise of sunshine, everyone’s demeanor at the track was excited about a great day of racing. Track conditions were perfect, and it all set up for a wonderful, and fast day. The first class off the gate was the 250C class which #515 Cody Tebo won while Blake Lura finished second ahead of Nicholas Tracy and Dylan Buchheit fourth for the first moto. With the mix of finishes after both motos, Tracy ended up second, Lura third and Buchheit fourth for the overall. Getting the excitement rolling for the day was the eight-rider gate of the 250A class with very strong competitors to spark everyone’s interest. Brad DePrenger took the holeshot, but dropped his bike around the holeshot corner giving #44 Brennan Myers and #30 Colin Hickman the opening lead. Devin Reed, Kody Pirie and Klint Stapes were hot in pursuit on Myers and Hickman through the first section. DePrenger would have to hustle gain back his lost positioning. With the second lap Myers held strong with Hickman, Pirie and Reed running hard through the whoops section. DePrenger managed to get past Zach Wallace and moved in on Daniel Gifford and made the pass on him through the rollers. On a mission, DePrenger made his way back up through the pack from

Reed pushed Pirie through the woods whoops section, and made his way into the first spot with Pirie #961 Dylan Smith and Jeremy Ayala having a disappointhave a great race in 65Sr class. ing setback to the last spot. DePrenger made his way past Hickman to second shortly after. The top three were locked in for the overall, Reed, DePrenger and Hickman. Quad A and Quad A Production
had #02 John Benda taking the overall wins for the day with back and forth competition from Jimmy Strait. Quad B and B/C production overall wins went to #703 Austin Voorhies with second going to Keaton Sterk and Gramm Meyer finishing third. In Open B, David Downey took the first moto holeshot side by side with Andrew Harter, just ahead of Corey Jacobe and Brennen Landeberger. Downey kept a healthy lead while Landeberger worked up to second leading Jacobe and Roy McAninch for the second lap. Landeberger then went down right before the back section tabletop which set him back to eighth. Jacobe assumed the second position and McAninch third as Downey took the first moto win.

The second moto start had Harter, McAninch and Cody Ely out front over the step-up, and through the first section. Ely and McAninch were side by side through the woods whoops section as Ely made the pass on him with Jacobe in pursuit. McAninch gained his position back as Josh Crawford worked his way up to the third spot with Jacobe in fourth. With pressure from Crawford, McAninch didn’t let that slow him down as he made his way past Harter for the first spot. The overall in Open B went to McAninch, ahead of Jacobe, Harter and Downey. In Open C #422 John Harter took the holeshot with Blake Lura and Jesse Gildea in pursuit before the first tabletop. Lura got around Harter at the step-up and took the early lead. Stone Schildroth moved up through the pack to get into second, dropping Gildea back to third. Schildroth then moved on Lura before the whoops section, but Lura pulled away through the whoops and maintained his lead. Lura ran into problems, and dropped back into the pack putting Schildroth into the lead as Michael Hite finished second, Harter third and Gildea fourth. Action continued in the second moto action as Lura, Gildea and Schildroth were out front over the first table top. Harter moved through the pack and ended up in second behind Lura. Schildroth was putting pressure on Gildea trying to take him on the inside corner
before the camel hump. With the next lap Schildroth moved all the way up to second, closing the gap on Lura as Harter and Gildea were still position threats. Sure enough with the back and forth battle, Harter moved back up into second as it was getting down to the wire. Harter got the edge he needed and took the lead in the last lap, leaving Lura and Schildroth with the second and third spots. Overall results were Harter, Schildroth and Lura with Gildea locked into fourth. It was an amazing day of racing with great track conditions, and finally, the sun and perfect weather! Action cranks up at Jordan SX Jordan, Minnesota - May 19 By Dusty Rose

t was a beautiful Saturday evening. Motokazie School had taken place during the day and those riders plus many more were ready to rip up the SX track with their bikes and quads. In the 50cc Premix class we had eight riders battling it out for top dog. After the first lap, Max Renner from Maple Grove, MN had the lead, followed by Timmy Kristiansen, Cameron Skaalerud and Carter Anderson. As Renner and Kristiansen sat comfortably in first and second place, Skaalerud and Anderson fought it out for third. Renner took the checkered flag, followed by Kristiansen and Skaalerud. In moto two, Kristiansen popped through for the holeshot with Anderson from Janesville, MN sitting in second, followed by Nolyn Hempel. Renner gave it some extra throttle and moved into third. Kristiansen was steady and smooth leading the pack. The race for second heated up as Renner showed Anderson his front tire, and finally took control of the position soon after. Kristiansen held everyone off for the checkered as Renner and Anderson took second and third. The 85cc 7-11 class blew out of the gates and headed for the first turn when three riders got tangled and went down. Seth Carpenter pushed through for the holeshot as Kaleb Carmen, Maxx Bedell and Pierce Bedell were close behind. Carpenter gradually pulled away from the others with a five second lead. Carmen maintained second as Maxx Bedell and Pierce Bedell clashed for third. Pierce Bedell had some bad luck before going through the Cities Edge Tunnel, and fell to the back of the pack. Carpenter and Carmen opened up a huge gap and finished one, two with Maxx Bedell taking third. The second moto, Carmen and Cade Marten from Waconia, MN competed for the first and second positions with Carpenter filling the third spot. Carmen opened up a lead by taking the 44

double, after the tunnel, while all of the other riders singled that jump. The fight for fourth and fifth got intense between the two Bedell’s. Into lap three the second place rider, Marten, went down, opening the door for Pierce Bedell and Maxx Bedell. As the riders crossed the finish line, Carmen took first with Carpenter, Pierce and Maxx following. One of the most exciting race of the evening was the 1529 Open class. Wyatt Krampitz on his Suzuki took the holeshot with Jay Sallstrom, Nate Nordmeyer and Myles Kraganbring following. The top three riders were nip and tuck the entire moto, one just waiting for the other to make a mistake. Each rider breathing down the back of the other. Krampitz was focused and took the checkered flag followed by Sallstrom and Nordmeyer. The second moto was just as extreme, with Nordmeyer squeezing out the holeshot, followed by Krampitz and Sallstrom. 1-2-3 as they zipped through the berms, and tripled in front of the grand stands. Nordmeyer kept the lead. Sallstrom ate a lot of Krampitz’s roost but didn’t let off the throttle. Krampitz was doing everything he could to pass Nordmeyer, but
This was one of the best evenings of racing I’ve witnessed. The racers really gave the spectators their money’s worth. Big thanks to Lee Theis and his Motokazie crew.
Nordmeyer was flawless and took the checkered flag with Krampitz and Sallstrom so close behind they could have been whispering in his ear, “Next time Nordmeyer, next time.

Motosports Park Trials Byron, Illinois - April 29 By Kathy Haselton Photos by Nancy Littlefield
F
ifty-one riders came out for Nitro’s second trials of the year. The late April event was held at the sprawling grounds of Motosports Park in Byron, Illinois. This event attracted riders from several states. The day started perfect day
riding, clear and dry with a nice refreshing breeze. Unfortunately, it didn’t stay that way, and with about an hour left in riding time, the skies opened up to a steady downpour of rain. The riders who were still out on the loop were forced to ride in cold and muddy conditions. The yearly trials at Byron is a challenge to riders for many reasons. The loop itself is expansive, at almost two miles. Along the loop lay many challenges for the riders including a slick creek crossing and steep hills. Laid nicely into the natural rolling landscape were ten sections that brought on their own set of challenges. Setup for this trials took over a month, and the hard work of the crew was definitely appreciated by the riders and spectators. There was great competition amongst the classes. There
were an unprecedented number of Intermediate riders, and the class was split into smaller riding groups, making the day more manageable for all. The Women’s class had a good number of riders as well. Kailey Rivenburgh and Sara Pranskunas were both perfect at the end of their loop, both scoring a zero for the day. Because of this they were forced into a ride off, where Kailey came out on top, narrowly beating Sara for first place. The next trials will take place June 23 and 24 at spectator friendly Polo, Illinois.

Sugar Maple D16 Points Opener Hill Point, Wisconsin - April 22 By Dave Hollub

hat happens when you combine great dirt, amazing terrain, a few man made jumps, lots of sand, and Jason Erdmann? You get Sugar Maple MX, and a great day of racing. The track was ready Saturday to give riders a chance to dial in the changes and lines the day before the race. Sunday sign up concluded with 239 entries ready to hit the track. Erdmann added tons of sand to the majority of the surface. First out on the track were the Quad B/C racers with Kory Blake out front. Duane Pretsch was close behind. By the time lap one was finished Blake was stretching out a gap on the rest of the class with Kyle Ertmer now in second. Zachary Haggerty was battling with Nicholas Kvigne to hold onto third place. While the top three held their spots to the finish Derek Roller took advantage of a bobble by Kvigne late in the moto to take over fourth. In moto two Blake crashed just after the start and by the time he was up and running had almost half a lap back. Haggerty was out front but once again had Kvigne all over him looking for a chance to slip by. Back in third place Ertmer was defending against a charge by Roller. On lap two Ertmer passed Kvigne. By the time the white flag came out Blake had worked his way into third. Blake kept charging and by the checkers was out front for his second moto win and the overall. A request had been made to add a Mini Quad class and it was great to see five mini
quads on the line, ready to show the crowd what they had. Maxwell Manske grabbed the holeshot only to momentarily lose it to Ethan Bedard. Manske came back in the same lap. Grant Olson was in third, ahead of Lauren Bedard. Ethan Bedard was finally able to slip past Manske on lap three and open enough of a gap to hold on for the moto win. Ethan Be-
Colton Karl won 250A and was second in Open A.
First-time racer Jordyn Olver shows off his third-place 50 Jr. medal.
dard jumped out front right away in moto two and stayed in the lead to the checkers. Bedard took the overall with a 1/1 day while Manske (2/2) was second. Bedard later told me “The track is good; I really liked the part where you go over the bumps by the road.” Brandon Clifford pulled the 125Jr holeshot with Dustin Sikorski right behind him. Clifford and Sikorski opened up some breathing room as they cruised to the finish. Eliah Norman was holding off pressure from Daniel Kraemer as he ran in third. Austin Nelson finished fifth. The moto two holeshot was almost even as Sikorski edged out Clifford. Clifford
moved out front quick and Sikorski stayed right on Clifford’s rear wheel for the first couple of laps. Norman was running third until he went down. Clifford (1/1) took the overall while Sikorski (2/2) was second and Nelson (5/3) edged out Kraemer (4/4) for third. Brandon Miller ran out front both motos of +25B/C. Marcus Hefty was running in second with Matthew Kohlmeyer and Elijah Gorecki battling for the third spot. By lap three Gorecki had gotten by Kohlmeyer and then on the final lap he moved in on Hefty to finish second. In moto two, while Miller was running out front Gorecki ran in second. Kohlmeyer slipped past Hefty and then began reeling in Gorecki. Gorecki held Kohlmeyer behind him, but as they battled Hefty slipped in and moved past both of them just before the checkers. Miller had an easy overall with a 1/1 day while Hefty (3/2) was second. After the race Miller said, “In the first moto I found a good holeshot and went for it. I was trying to just stay smooth, relaxed, and consistent so I could just have some fun. In the second moto it was a bit harder as a couple guys stayed with me. I had to put my head down and focus on my riding each lap so I could keep ahead of them. Thanks to MadCity Powersports, Limited Decal, Twin Air, and A-1 Movers of Portage, Wisconsin for helping me out.” When the gate dropped on Sportsman B/C Kyle Hameister already had a big lead by the time they hit the Daytona corner on lap one. Ty Hennessy slipped past Jason Bernhardt just before lap one was over. By the white flag lap Trevor Semrow had closed in on Bernhardt and passed into third near the end of the moto. Bernhardt got the jump in moto two but lost the lead position to Hameister in the road section and then Semrow found an opening around him before lap one was over. HenCYCLE USA, June 2012

nessy put pressure on Bernhardt and passed for third on the final lap. Hameister used his 1/1 finishes to clinch the overall while Semrow (3/2) took advantage of moto math to edge out Hennessy (2/3) for second. Clayton Vonmoos was out front of 250A as they hit the first triple but Dylan Narel was right on his back tire. Talon Bronk had his hands full battling with Colton Karl for two laps before Karl made his way around. Meantime, Narel was setting up a pass on Vonmoos. As they hit the tabletop by the road Narel jumped past Vonmoos to take the lead. Vonmoos was all over Narel and on the final lap coming out of valley one Narel went down leaving the door open for Vonmoos to take the checkers. Karl finished second just ahead of Narel. Vonmoos took the moto two holeshot but Karl was out front when they hit the Daytona and Narel was running third. Karl hung on to the lead all moto as Narel bobbled on the flats before the ski-jump and both Bronk and Jacob Oldenburg got by. Narel picked off Oldenburg on lap two then set his sights on Bronk. Going into Valley one on lap three both riders were bar to bar and Narel came out of the valley with the position. Karl (2/1) took the overall edging out Vonmoos (1/2) with Narel 3/3. Narel “I was winning the whole moto until I went down on the last lap and ended up with a third place finish. The second moto I got tangled up with someone else and hit a tire that wrecked my radiator, so I just rode around for third trying to salvage what I could. The track seemed to stay softer and more moist. The track is really good, it is rough so I thought it was great. I would like to thank Johnson Sales Yamaha, CMJ Raceway, and everyone else that has been helping me out. With the passing of my father earlier this month my family was having a rough time and it was great getting back out here again.” The Womens class had Falen Narel holeshot the first moto with Sierra Dortch and Tammy Flemming close behind. By the time lap two was finishing up Dortch was so close behind Narel you could have covered both with a blanket. As the two jumped out of Hollub’s Hollow they were bar to bar and Dortch moved up front. Dortch was able to stay out front until the final lap when Narel found an opening and re –took the lead. The moto two holeshot was a rough one for all the women except Narel. Narel got through the corner just ahead of a crash which took down all the other women (and several of the 50+ riders starting at the same time). Sierra Heindl came out of the downed riders in second while Dortch followed. Narel had a relatively easy cruise to the finish. Dortch closed in on Heindl and made a pass for second just as lap three was beginning. There were thirty riders lined up in 250C 50

Shane Cooper meanwhile was recovering from bad start and by the end of lap three was putting pressure on Alex Wille. Cooper made his move as he skimmed through the whoops on the white flag lap to claim third. Bakken took the holeshot again in moto two with pressure right away from not only Kraemer, but Colten Bentz and Zachary Soltvedt as well. Cooper was forced off the track with a mechanical that ended his afternoon. Kraemer was now starting to wear down Bakken’s defenses and on the final lap took the lead, and finished his day with both moto wins and the overall. Ty Hennessy in Sportsman B/C.

Randrups Run Rampant at Rapids Wisconsin Rapids, WI - April 29 By Doug Forstner Photos by Doug Forstner and Troy Fisher

fter trying a July race in 2011, the Rapid Angels got their mx race back on the spring schedule. With the temperatures well over 100 degrees last year, the cooler spring temps were actually a welcome change for the riders this year. Although the day started out just a tad above freezing, things quickly warmed up and the day weather-wise was a success. Before the racing started there was a moment of silence for Steve Narel who passed away just a few days before the race. Family and friends dedicated a parade lap around the track to honor Steve who was an accomplished racer in the day. The racing then started with all the 50cc and 65cc motos back to back on the supercross track. First out of the gate was 50Jr. KJ Miller must have liked the new Cobra that his dad purchased for him as he rocketed off the line and grabbed the holeshot to lead moto one. Nadia Ellingson and Benjamin Blazek were hot on KJ’s heels for most of the moto, but Miller held onto win. Ellingson finished behind Blazek, but was pushing hard. In moto two, Miller again got a great start and rode hard, this time with pressure throughout the moto. He kept his composure and went on to win moto two, and get his overall. Ellingson was charging hard and got into second ahead of Blazek, and took the runner spot in the moto and overall. Blazek went 2-3 for third followed by Riley Busse who made the trek up from New Berlin. First timer Chris Randrup rounded out the top five. Vet B/C was a decent sized class with

thirteen entries as Tom Wolf took the top honors. Not to be outdone by his son’s great first outing, Tim Randrup posted impressive 2-2 moto scores for second overall ahead of Dan Myers and David Blazek. All the riders in the class posted similar moto scores both motos, but the racing was pretty close. The +50 class had a bunch of fast old farts, and they were led by Tom Dretzka both motos. Jeff McLain tried to keep him honest both motos, but just didn’t have the mojo to make a move. Gary Walkowski rode great to garner the bronze overall ahead of Mike Barta and Wayne Slagle, who had a good duel in the second moto with Slagle just nudging Barta in the moto. Barta won the war and took
#128, Mitchell Koester leading Sportsman B/C into the first turn.

home fourth overall. Vaughn Mays made the trip from Genoa City, and put his Southeast Sales KTM out front in moto one of 250A class. He was hauling the mail with Sam Long tagging along for the ride in second. Nate Laporte was running in third, Colton Karl and Talon Bronk making chase. As the moto wore on though, Mays started to lose steam and Long made a pass for the lead and that is how the moto ended. Moto two started the same way with Mays getting the holeshot ahead of Long and company. As the moto wore on Long jumped on the chance to get by again and took over the lead. This time also Jake Zuegner got in the mix and was able to muscle past Dylan Narel for fourth. Laporte held consistent laps to finish third again in moto two. Karl’s 4-6 gave him fourth overall just beating the 5-6 scores of Narel. 250C was the biggest class of the day, and local rider Nick Randrup on his new KX250f held court, winning both motos ahead of Brady Schernick. Reese Bakken, another local rider used his home court advantage to go 4-3 in his motos and take home the bronze. Honestly, I could write three more pages of the various battles that were happening throughout both motos in this class. After the race I talked to Randrup, and he was a little mad because he thought I wouldn’t write about him if he didn’t win both C classes. Well guess what Nick, I was impressed with your riding. Even your second place finish in Open C was probably impressive because you were running your 250 in the Open class. Not to be outdone by her brother, nephew and uncle, Kendra Randrup took
home honors in both the Women’s and Mini 85 12-15 classes. Even with a very rough track, she was able to put it to her competition, winning all four of her motos. Speaking of rough, the track this year was prepped with the unseasonably warm spring weather. A new six pack section and the entrance sweeper being added again to the course, not only was the track rough from all the racing, but the new ob250A class pounding through the new “six pack”. stacle gave some riders fits. Motocity’s Qualifier weekend Little Falls, Minnesota - May 13 By Amber Vargo
T
he long racing weekend at Little Falls made for a great weekend full of friends and family. The weather turned out great for the D23/ Loretta Lynn Qualifying event. The track conditions turned out nicely as well. In the 65cc 7-11 class Wyoming’s Brayden Bruce railed to win both motos. After sweeping through the first mot ahead of Iowa’s Gage Fisher and Wyoming’s Kyler Green, they returned to line up for moto two of their day. Bruce pulled the holeshot followed into the first corner by Fisher, South Dakota’s Austin Painter and Cambridge, Minnesota’s Josh Feddler. Bruce and Fisher began to pull a solid lead from the rest of the pack. Minnesota’s Joshua Boaz rode the moto in a comfortable third place, greatly improving on his first moto eighth. The top three stayed in the

same positions to the end as Painter finished fourth ahead of Jarret Biro in the fourteen rider class. The Mini Sr class had twelve riders from a half dozen states, as well as Canada all represented. Our own Minnesota rider Benjamin Adamson won the first moto ahead of Idaho’s Haydn Humphrey, Canada’s Kyle Biro and another area rider, Noah McPherson on his Yamaha. Off the line in the second moto, Biro pulled to the first corner leading Humphrey, Adamson, Jared Green, and McPherson. Humphrey passed Biro for the led in first lap. Biro held a second place as they began to drift from the rest of the riders. Mcpherson and Green followed closely Adamson in the same lines as he tried to gain on Biro in second. The riders in the top four began to distance themselves from each other. In the end Humphrey took the win and overall (2-1) ahead of the charging Adamson (1-3) and Biro (3-2). There was a lot of fast racing throughout the event, in just about every class. It really was another weekend you just needed to be at to appreciate. Mcgurer tops at White City HC White City, Illinois - May 12 By Bud Northrup

oe McGurer was the top rider at the Cahokia Creek Dirt Riders hill climb, claiming three class wins and the Fast Time award. His fast time ride came in the fast 600cc class, as he set the time to beat at 3.096 seconds on his first ride. Josh Denson and Jared McKay put the pressure on him as they both slipped under his time in the second round with rides of 3.044 and 3.087 seconds respectively. But Joe responded with a fist full of throttle and flew his KX500 high over the top in 3.019 seconds to claim the win and Fast Time of the night. McGurer’s second win came in the 250cc class where his 3.240 second first round ride held up for the win with Matt Peters second in 3.293 seconds and Jon Creek third. But ‘Jammin Joe’ wasn’t done yet, as he brought his Kawasaki back at the end of the evening in the one run, winner take all King of the Hill class for the ten fastest riders of the night. He sailed over the top in a sizzling 3.056 seconds to take that coveted award, with Jake Tackitt and Jared McKay behind. Morgan Wheelwright, Jeff Jack, Matt Peters and Mike Pulver were all double class win-
ners. Wheelwright took her first win in the Women’s class with a 3.842 second time on her YZ125, with Ali Harnish second and Stacey Morris third. Her second win came in the 125cc class where she beat all the guys with a nice 3.866 run, with Lucas Learnard and Derek Toberman in the next two spots. Veteran rider Jeff Jack came from Iowa to win the 200cc and Super Senior classes. Riding his KTM200, he posted a 3.603 second time to win the 200cc class with Jake Tackitt second and Schuyler Kalaher third. The Peters family had another good night with Dad Matt winning two classes and son Levi taking the Youth Fast Time award. Matt’s first win came in the 450cc class with a very quick 3.102 second run on his KTM380, edging Eric Wheelwright who posted a 3.143 second time. His second win came in the +40 class where he rode his CR500 to a 3.207 second win, with Andy Fortner second and Wheelwright third. Son Levi Peters took the 85Jr class win, and the Youth Fast Time award. Mike Pulver won both stock classes. Riding a KX250, he turned in identical 3.467 second runs on both rides for the win, with Andy Fortner second and Troy Camerer third. In Open Stock action, Pulver ruined McGurer’s
bid for a perfect night, incredibly with another 3.467 second ride, this time on his CR500. McGurer posted a 3.672 second time for second with Mark Kanallaken third. his weekend marked the third race of the season for District 17’s Stateline MX. Typical stadium - tight winding track, with plenty of obstacles, jumps and unique turns. A couple features of note would start with the second turn. After you hit the jumps beyond the start you find a very tight low to high hairpin where a lot of passing happened. Add in a long section of whoops and the track is quite technical. There were so many great races, lots of last minutes passes, and packs of riders fighting for position. One of the action packed races of the night came from the Open C class. The gates fell with fifteen riders blasting into the tight first turn. Kelsy Rodgers managed to grab the holeshot ahead of Damon Quest and Kyle Blake. Behind them four bikes got jammed up, as the frantic riders tried to free themselves. It wasn’t long before Nick Blumer blasted through traffic to move all the way into second place behind Rodgers. Blake had a fall, dropping him back in the pack, allowing Austin Beaty to take over third with Andrew Friebele right behind. On the third lap Blumer kept chipping away at Rodgers, and got around to take over first place. The next lap Rodgers was passed in the same turn by Beaty. On the last lap through the whoops section Blumer and Beaty were next to each other going around lapped traffic. Going three wide into the tight turn from
the whoops, Beaty got squeezed to the far inside and went down, shooting Blumer over the side of the berm. Rodgers got stuck behind the downed Beaty, who ultimately didn’t finish the race. This allowed Friebele to move into third, as Blumer got back on it hard and held first. Rodgers finished second. The 250C class had sixteen riders ready to take action, the largest group of the night. Right from the gate drop everyone was bunched together with Nick Blumer taking the holeshot. Andrew Friebele was in second, Taylor Arberry third with Brad Cesaroni right on their tail. After clearing through the traffic Daniel Kraemer came charging hard past Cesaroni and Arberry to move into third. Friebele got around Blumer to take over first, then around the long sweeper Kraemer came in hard and got past Blumer as well, moving him into third. Through the rhythm section Blumer got back into second place going wide around Kraemer, making for a great battle. The white flag was soon out and everyone was charging hard. Going through the sweeper Blumer and Kraemer went inside on Friebele and bumped him back to third with Blumer taking over first. Blasting through the whoops Kraemer was able to bite hard to the inside line and take over first place, and then hold it over the finish line. The A classes this evening were very fast and a lot of fun to watch. With fourteen riders signing up for 250A there was a lot of battles! Maxx Malatia was able to get out front as everyone else was packed up tight behind him. After the second turn Kevin Markwardt
was in second with Cory Catalani, Ross Martin and Zach Coons right on his heels. Coming through the long sweeper Coons managed to move up to third. On the third lap Markwardt skimmed through the whoops section to get next to Malatia, but Malatia dug into the inside rut and managed to hold onto first. Flying past the white flag Markwardt bit in hard through the sweeper managing to get past Malatia. The Whoops section got the better of Coons as Martin was able to get around him to take third. A charging Kurt McCabe also got by to move into fourth. Markwardt took the win ahead of Malatia and Martin. Later that evening Open A was up on the line and proved to be just as good of a race. The gate slammed down and the roar came strong with Ross Martin edging to take the holeshot holding back Malatia and Tommy Hofmaster. Markwardt was holding fourth when McCabe came inside on him to take over. Coming over the line on the second lap McCabe and Markwardt went hard inside on the sweeper to get by Hofmaster. With the white flag down, Markwardt made another inside move in the sweeper and got by McCabe, but McCabe crossed behind him and gunned it hard into the jumps passing him right back. Martin was able to stay out front the entire race taking the win with Malatia second. Open B was out with August Miksys taking the holeshot leading Ricky Williams and Caleb Gilbertson. Miksys rode clean holding first, creating a good gap as Gilbertson was able to pass Williams to finish second. The Quads were running real fast on the
A class riders: Maxx Malatia, Kevin Markwardt, Cory Catalani, Ross Martin, Brian White.
track tonight, the sweeper being an especially fast turn with everyone hanging off the side to get through the turn as fast as possible. Quad A was the first race of the night with Ethan Pickard holding out for first place, Devin Krontz taking second and Jacob Howald grabbing third. T.J Staver was having a great race and broke his tie rod coming down off the finish line jump. Quad B and C came off the line staggered. B came over the finish line with Kory Blake in first place, Brandon Cesaroni in second and Austin Druien taking third. Dakota Hitchcock won the C class. The last race of the evening was 80 Open and it was a great way to end the night. Off the line Hunter Grampp took the holeshot with Christopher Gallagher in second. Alex Taylor managed to get by Gallagher on the outside in turn three moving him into second place. Grampp started to create a large gap and took the win. The Stateline MX track made for some great action and tight racing all night. The technical aspects and large jumps make for exciting, and challenging races.
