Community Care Project –
ACTIVITIES
Community Care Mosaic Art on the Community Hall Church is at its final stages of completion with the following pieces being placed. Youth engagement project from the beginning to finish product included:
CYE currently average around 45% actual attendance at activities which is higher than the national average of 42%.

JOBS
We currently have 40 participants working in Aurukun who we are providing post placement support for. This support includes regular visits to: Aurukun School, Aurukun Shire Council, Cape York Employment, Queensland Health, Island and Cape, HC Construction, Apunipima, APN, CAA, Carpenteria Contracting, Bhagwan Marine.
TRAINING
Chainsaw, Licencing, First Aid, TAFE Foundational Skills, Mental Health First Aid.
His Excellency the Honorable
Paul de Jersey AC, Governor of Queensland His Excellency the Honorable Paul de Jersey AC, Governor of Queensland made a visit to the Women’s Art Centre on Tuesday 13 June. He took time out to talk with the ladies about their artwork and was very interested in the art space they worked in. During the visit he bought a painting from our artist Bettina Pootchemunka.

Amrun Familiarisation Day It was an early morning start for 13 participants visiting the Amrun site to familiarize themselves with certain work areas. The jobseekers had a run through of interviews, safety hazards and procedures.
Aurukun Shire Council New Employee Chelsea Peemuggina has started working as an Administration Officer at the Aurukun Shire Council. She says she enjoys gaining more computer knowledge, answering calls and learning more about her reception role. Sue Hardy, HR Manager at Aurukun Shire Council, said Chelsea is settling in well, showing initiative and asking for things to do.
Online Training
to work in Construction Industry CYE Youth Engagement Participants Wayne Wolmby, Keenan Chevathun and Dave Koo-oila have successfully completed their online Blue Dog Training to Work Safely in the Construction Industry. CYE would like to congratulate the three participants on their success and look forward to see them in the construction industry in the near future.
Aurukun State School Attendance Officers Aurukun school buses are in action and around the community making sure that students are attending school and having discussions with parents about the importance of school attendance. Jeffery Yunkaporta (Driver and School Attendance Officer) along with Elsie (SAO) and Dulice Taisman (School Attendance Supervisor) are helping make a brighter future by assisting students to school so they can receive greater knowledge and education.
