Cape York Leaders Program The Cape York Leaders Program (CYLP) supports the development of current and future leaders. The program’s Academic Leaders are offered scholarships to attend Queensland secondary schools and tertiary institutions across Australia and also includes more than 400 Leaders who were supported and nurtured through the Adult Leaders’ People Excellence Phases (Youth, Skilling and Excelling Phases), which ceased in 2019. Academic Secondary and Tertiary Leaders receive extensive support from dedicated CYLP staff. The program is also guided by the Steering Committee, which is populated by alumni members from the Academic and Adult Leaders’ phases. They play a central role in ensuring CYLP remains relevant and continues to provide high-quality support to Leaders.

Our Leaders have cultural connections across Cape York, Cairns and Yarrabah. They orbit from these areas to board at Queensland’s high-quality secondary and tertiary institutions throughout Australia. By orbiting across the state, these Leaders are learning to walk, with confidence,
