The subject of the diploma thesis was the design of a kindergarten in Cesky Brod. The kindergarten has a capacity of 144 children in 5 regular classes and 2 classes for children aged 2–3 years. The building program is built upon the towns intention to have a new kindergarten constructed on the specific site. Included in the program is the design of the garden. An important aspect of the project are the sustainability principles employed in the design. ‘There are only two things we can hope to give our children: one is roots, the other is wings.’ The quote became the motto for the idea of the whole object. At the one side, providing a safe and certain background for the little kids, a place they can call the second home. Familiar and welcoming, where every individual has their place within the collective. A second aspects of roots was recognized as discovering and learning to understand nature. Therefore, a special attention was given to garden design. At the other side, there are wings understood as a freedom of own development. Possibility to act following actual own desire. Variable space without limits stimulating own exploration, experiment and creativity.

master-plan for development in prague studio Klokocka, Zdrahalova, Fingerova doc. Ing. arch. akad. arch. Jiri Klokocka 2017/2018 Business&Family park

Sport park

Floral street

The goal of the project Sewed Rohan was to initiate ideas for an attractive developing area around 80 ha large located on the Vltava riverside in Prague. The recreational potential of the river is recognized as the most important value of the area. However, flood risk is the second aspect of the place. Design should include all the aspects and requirements for a city of 21. century and build on existing surroundings at the same time. There is a longitudinal riverside park of natural character designed. The terrain is lower here as a surface to be flooded in a case it is needed. Four transverse parks crossing the built areas are designed to connect the Riverside park with existing green and relaxing areas in neighborhood. Each of them has different character designed according to links to existing places and their history as well as program of designed buildings. Therefore, Floral Street, Fruit garden, Sport park and Business&Family Park were designed. The predominant function of the development is residential.

TO THE SKY watching the stars and clouds through skylight

A BRIDGE TO OUR EXISTENCE AS A BRIDGE TO NATURE A place for people who search for the answers of their life. To spend time in nature, to be alone to contemplate and think. To share the ideas with others. To look for the essence of own humanity, for the origin of our existence. To be aware of physical nature. To find the connection between human and nature by discovering the origin of existence as a whole.

The program of the project is a hostel for people visiting for shorter or longer time, who need a place to calm down from the everyday rush or re-evaluate their life. Most of the island surface is left as a wild natural park with pathwalks among the trees, around the old wall and opened to the sea at some places. The social centre of the island and hostel complex is situated within the old ruins. Old walls are conserved to act as a reminder of the past and the limited time of human life and his activities. Inside, there is a new insulated brick structure creating a space for the entrance with reception, kitchen, dining room and library in a one ruin. A meeting room for all the social activities with a bar is found in the other ruin. Living units are located at the south edge of the island in two buildings. All of the rooms provide a complete privacy for the visitor and offer different moments how to experience the nature. The new brick facade grows from the old wall.

inflatable installation experiment

studio FLOW doc. Ing. arch. Milos Florian, Ph.D. 2016 PVC cushion front view

The goal of the project was working with material, experimenting with different types of construction and building a functional prototype in a 1:1 scale. It was an innovative approach to an installation, which we perceived as a living organism that should also respond to its surroundings. The structure was composed of fans installed in pairs in opposite directions, so that one is used for inflation and the other for deflation. Fans were connected together using merkur sticks with nuts and bolts. Square-shaped cushions were manifactured of soft PVC foil. The whole structure consists of 5 panels, each of them controlled by a separate Arduino board. These were networked with a computer, which was coordinating them using Processing. The ShapeShift is an experiment manifesting that architecture is no longer needed to be considered static only, but it can change, move and interact with its environment.

The goal of the project led by PET-MAT research was to build a Christmas tree from used PET bottles. Inside the tree, a space for exhibition accessible to public was required. It was a team work of the studio and external specialists. Elementary and secondary schools were involved to collect the bottles. The tree should call attention to the importance of plastic, its recyclation and alternative way of use. The result was a five meters high self-bearing dome using over 12 000 bottles. My own design was a PET-table used as a part of exhibition space. The tree was at the place from almost a month. During this time it was shining all the time and the inner space was 16 lahví opened to public. (4 x 25) 100 100 100 50

IN BETWEEN

inspired by nature | based on technology

studio FLOW doc. Ing. arch. Milos Florian, Ph.D. 2015/2016 Project “In between” is dealing with the difference in natural and built environment and with the possibility of bringing some qualities of nature into towns. While surroundings in towns is mostly uniform, perpendicular, polluted, with artificial borders restricting freedom, the new structure growing in a town should have attributes found in nature. The most important for the project became growth, constant change and responsiveness. Shapes are biomorphic where boundaries are more passing-zones as strictly set lines. It is creating a space, where everyone can choose his own way, spend free time in inspirative and stimulating environment and gain some positive energy. Structure is assembled from waste material produced in the town which reduces pollution.

L - CITY

l-system based urban study

studio FLOW doc. Ing. arch. Milos Florian, Ph.D. 2014 L-City is a complex of high-rise buildings with a residental and culture-sociable function creating a urban unit. The aim of the project was to explore possibilities of the L-system algorithm applied in architecture. The algorithm based on the principle of recursion had been developed to describe plant growth initially. However, it can be also used to design various forms applying growth processes in nature. Parametrical functions were used to generate interesting curves and 3-D geometry. This became an inspiration for the building system and floors itself. A building outgoing from these principals holds some of the advantages of a plant spacial organization, such as form hetergenity, light distribution, branching and system of communications.

SCHOOL AT KOCINK A STREET elementary school for 8 classes

studio LAMPA Ing. arch. Radek Lampa 2014/2015

visualisation of the school

An elemetary school at Kocinka street is situated in Prague 6, beside an existing elementary school, which is currently insufficient. There should be built a new one aimed for younger schoolchildren. The programme of the building should include eight classes, a refectory, a multi-use hall, sanitary facilities, offices for teachers, rooms required for food preparation and outdoor courtyard with playground. An entrance to the bulding leads through a garden located on the eastern-south part of the site. Spacious classrooms facing east-south consist of two parts. The front one is a classical classroom while the back part provides a variable space for alternative classwork. There is a multi-functional room used mostly for physical activities, a triangular shaped refectory and additional rooms. The frontal facade opens to the garden. Colorful lamellae make the school atractive for kids and prevent shade in classrooms. The green roof descends to a level of a terrain in the north-western side of the parcel. situation

PETSCULPT 3d printed sculpture

studio PETMAT work on organisation, construction and installation 2017 wing detail

PetSculpt is the project, where the environmental aspect of architecture and design meet broader public. The idea was to create a statue for city christmas decoration made of recycled PET material, that would be assembled from 3D printed parts. Anybody who owns a 3D printer, could enter the making process and be part of the creation in the process called crowdprinting. At the end, over thirty 3D printer owners participated and created elements of the statue, with a total amount almost four hundred pieces. The display of an angel is a traditional aspect of christmas decoration in town Jindřichův Hradec every December. PetSculpt statue is a mechanical structure, with a possibility to move via the handle, like for example old astronomical clock mechanisms. Design by: Dominik Císař

ST. GEORGEN project study

archform dipl. architekten gmbh individual work on a design of a project study 2017 The site is located in a district of St. Gallen in Switzerland. Three apartment houses are set into slope. There are two separated underground garages in different height levels using the rising terrain so that no ramps are needed. Volumes of the buildings are designed to meet the spatial and functional requirements of the investor and they react on the existing terrain and surroundings at the same time. First two floors of each building are used as non-residential spaces because of lack of natural light. Above that, four typical floors are placed with three apartments in one floor. On the top, there are two attic apartments with terraces.

Competition for the center of Au (4th prize) Ernst Züst Architekturbüro cooperation on the design, drawings 2017

main square, view from south

International competition project for the village Au in east Switzerland is dealing with the old center area, that is not suitable for today’s needs anymore. The proposal comes with mixed functions. There are residential spaces with smaller shops and offices in the ground-floor, connected directly to the public area, a new building for town hall, office spaces and other amenities. Whole area is served by underground parking spaces. The public space is divided to few smaller spaces, that have different function and level of intimacy to meet the desired requirements - thus the name of the project. These places consist of the main square, the main city meeting point located between the city hall and a residential block, the “Beech place”, with a calm, casual atmosphere under the big tree, the Paul Grüninger square, dedicated to swiss national hero, that consist mainly of proposed Paul Grüninger museum and the bus stop, as the important transportation point and finally, the church square, that provide dignified atmosphere to the entrance of the church. I was working on physical model, participating meetings about design and working on drawings.
