What can fill up a room but takes up no space?

Hello fellow Key Clubbers, I’m sure you all have heard this a lot recently, but I truly hope everyone is doing well and staying safe. Although there is a lot of uncertainty as a result of the unprecedented times we are facing, we are doing our best to ensure the safety and engagement of our members once we return to school. Moreover, we are thoroughly planning our meetings and communication to make sure we can accommodate everyone. In spite of the challenges we are facing, I profoundly look forward to see all of the incredible things we’ll accomplish as an organization and community.

As the start of a new school year approaches, I always find it important to consider both the challenges and the opportunities it presents. On one hand, recruiting new members and resuming more frequent club meetings increases every club’s enthusiasm and promotes greater active participation in service activities. However, as schoolwork and other extracurricular activities start to require more time and effort, it becomes more difficult to focus on Key Club. Additionally, this year, simple tasks such as holding a meeting will require careful planning to ensure the safety of every member. So how can we overcome these challenges and ensure that our increased motivation lasts all year long? Based on my Key Club experience, there are two simple tips that can help every Key Clubber succeed. First, it is important to learn how to stay organized and prioritize. This can be achieved by setting up a planner or an online calendar in which you can put all of the tasks that need to be accomplished. By keeping track of everything in one place, you will be less likely to forget about an upcoming deadline and you will be able to decide whether or not you have time to take on more responsibilities. An organized calendar is certainly helpful, but over time tasks may pile up and it can become difficult to get everything done, which is why it is essential to learn how to prioritize. This is because getting better at recognizing which assignments are the most urgent makes it easier to focus on the task at hand. The second tip is to find activities that are both fun and productive. Within Key Club, this might mean volunteering with a group of friends or doing a service project at a social. By participating in these simple activities, it becomes easier to gain momentum for more challenging tasks, such as organizing food drives and updating club websites. It also promotes accountability because making friends within Key Club is a great way to stay engaged throughout the school year.I am certain that this division will be successful this year because it is already following these tips to a great extent. Its organizational skills are shown by the fact that one club submitted its monthly report over one week before the due date, while the division's ability to stay motivated through fun activities is demonstrated by the active participation of every member at icebreakers during DCMs. Overall, I am extremely proud of all the progress that has been made towards our primary goal, which is helping our community through service and collaboration.
