A LETTER FROM YOUR LTG
Hey 3N! Â So as another month comes and goes, we as a division have kept the pedal to the floor in terms of service, fundraising, and making an impact in the community. Over the summer, we logged over 300 hours of service at Reach Unlimited, a number I couldn't even imagine at the beginning of the year.
Now, I want to push you to be even better and more productive than before. Our new divisional project will be making care packages for victims of mass shootings. It has been a topic that is both highly controversial and relevant over the past couple of months. These people have suffered through a
trauma unthinkable to the majority of us. Their home communities have been infiltrated by hatred and devastation that cannot be prepared for. We as young leaders need to be the first to help when a tragedy hits close to home. With this being said, we need to keep volunteering in our community. We have done great, but we can do better. Please let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions for me to get better and grow as the year goes on.Â
Yours in Service, Raj Patel, Lieutenant Governor

all of the reps and officers got together to paint large banners exhibiting the date, time, and location of our first general meeting. Our reps and officers worked hard to create an informational yet creative poster to hang in the halls of Cy-Woods high school. We look forward to a great turnout at our first meeting and to many more fun meetings with our extraordinary rep and officer team!

KEY CLUBBER OF THE MONTH
Key Club has played a major role in my life. My love for volunteering has only grown since I joined. I have met so many new people I would never have had the chance to meet without Key Club. I have definitely grown as a leader and as a
person since Key Club has become a part of my life.

homework, tests, studying, and the most fun, clubs are also beginning. Most students who were at Cy-Woods last school year already know about Key Club and what the club is about, but the incoming freshman class doesn’t know any substantial information about the club. I enjoy informing others about what Key Club is really about, so I think informing and recruiting new members is something I would be more than capable of doing. In addition to recruiting new members to Key Club, I also intend to recruit new members to the Builders Club in the middle schools because I am a Builders Club representative and it is a feeder into Key.
Many of the incoming freshmen that I’m familiar with know some basic information about Key Club so I assume the other freshmen know little to nothing about Key Club. To inform and recruit new students I will tell them about the basics of Key Club, such as the amount of volunteering hours the club requires every year and how to get those hours. I would also inform them of the leadership opportunities and the development of personality that Key Club can offer. To recruit students who have previously been at Cy-Woods I would enlighten those students on how volunteering hours can be helpful for getting into college and could potentially change their view on volunteering and the community, as it did mine.
Builders Club is another club that is a part of Kiwanis, as I explain it is like a Key Club but for middle schoolers. I recently went to Goodson Middle School, as shown in the picture, to introduce students at Goodson about Builders Club and the benefits the club can offer, and it was thrilling. I will admit I was a part of Builders
WELCOME NEW MEMBERS
Summer is coming to an end and school is beginning again, which means
Club in sixth grade, but I did not join in the later years, but being a representative for Builders Club made me wish I was. To inform the students, we passed out flyers and notified the students on what Builders Club was about, building character, developing leadership, and performing service. Now that school is starting we have to inform the students in school, so I think creating posters and flyers and posting them around the school as well as getting the sponsor to announce the club on the morning announcements is a good start to recruiting members to Key Club.
Bringing new members to meetings of Key Club and Builders Club is a joy and if all goes right, many new members will join. This school year is a new start for many people and hopefully their new start includes Key Club or Builders Club.

THE KEY TO A BALANCED SCHEDULE
High school can often be incredibly overwhelming and the workload can get rather strenuous. However, it is important to be involved with various organizations and clubs during your high school career in order to broaden your horizons at an early age. Balancing Key Club, schoolwork, and multiple other organizations can be difficult but is very much possible with the right techniques along with a positive mindset.
Being in various organizations at once and juggling a difficult course schedule can be rather challenging during high school. However, it is important to prioritize, plan, and prepare throughout the year in order to stay on top of all your activities. A helpful tip to remember is to have a planner or agenda at your immediate disposal in order to plan out your days and understand which assignments to accomplish each day. It is important to remain on top of your schoolwork and prioritize projects and studying as well. Prioritization allows for the balance of multiple extracurricular activities and promote success within each of these commitments. Planning ahead of time can also reduce stress in the long run and allow you to manage all activities in an orderly fashion. Planning ahead, and prioritizing are key tips to a balanced lifestyle and encourage success throughout your high school career and beyond. In addition, planning ahead and completing certain tasks ahead of time will allow you more free time in the future.
Secondly, it is incredibly important to not overwork yourself and commit to too many things at once. Oftentimes, we can become overwhelmed and lose focus on the task at hand if we try to dedicate ourselves to too many activities. The key to achieving and maintaining success with a variety of different activities and schoolwork is staying organized, avoiding procrastination, and working diligently on all projects. While high school can be difficult at times, it is important to immerse yourself in organizations and activities that you are passionate about in order to achieve a healthy balance in your life. It is crucial to understand what is important to you and to set long term goals in order obtain success in your future.
Extracurricular activities are incredibly vital to every high school student and it is equally important to manage your time wisely, prioritize certain activities, and to simply plan ahead. These few tips will allow students to manage multiple passions at once. The key to balanced life is simple and the end result is very much rewarding. Key Club has allowed me to find success in my academic agenda and extracurricular activities despite my hectic schedule.
