BIM Day 2012 New methods of building design and construction MADE IN UK: BIM in practice in Great Britain (Tuesday) June 12, 2012 | from 9:00 to 7:00 p.m. Kotera Lecture Hall, Faculty of Architecture CTU in Prague, Thákurova 9, Prague 6 - Dejvice
What will be the development of BIM implementation in Czech Republic? When to promote BIM in architectural and design practice? What kind of special benefits will BIM bring for individual participants in the design and implementation process? How will BIM influence contractual relations and copyrights? When and how will be BIM reflected from the legislative point of view? How to put BIM effectively into practice? These are only a few of many questions related to BIM process, that will probably arise in mind of the BIM Day 2012 participants.
Topic: To introduce BIM as a process – a powerful, modern and efficient way of design, construction and management of buildings and infrastructure - the use of building information throughout its life cycle.

S.3 | Executive Summary If we speak about today’s civil engineering, besides economic crisis there is another topic for discussion – the need to build according to environmental demands. Green buildings, low energy or passive buildings are important. It would be a fatal mistake to believe that environmentally friendly buildings are those with optimal thickness of thermal insulation. Green buildings need to be firstly regarded as those designed to fit the latest trend of housing. Energy-efficient approach should be addressed by the project team (and also approved by investors) in the initial stages of the investment project. A high-quality building must be preceded by corresponding project. Most aware investors know that a quality project and actual construction is usually „only“ 20% of all costs needed during building’s lifecycle. If the most important of an investment is the return on investment, then the investors should certainly not economize on the preparation and building construction.

Chance for modern building industry BIM: DESIGN | CONSTRUCTION | MANAGEMENT
WHY TO PARTICIPATE?
The idea of building information modeling (BIM) being as integrated process, provides new opportunities for cooperation of all participants in the building life cycle. It is one of the most essential chain links, which can among other processes contribute significantly not only to the construction of green buildings, but also to the effective use and administration.
Because BIM is not the future, it is the present. Because of the complexity of this issue, the BIM process needs to be viewed as a new way of cooperation among all stakeholders of the construction process. It is necessary that all participants have a basic knowledge and have an overview on all phases that BIM uses during the buildings lifecycle.
WHAT IS THIS ALL ABOUT?
WHO IS IT FOR?
The conference is focused on the future of the building industry! Civil engineering, compared to other industrial branches, is relatively conservative in the way of all parties’ cooperation. The aim of the conference is to present the building information model as a process which fundamentally affects the groovy way of cooperation. It changes the roles, responsibilities, attitude to education and further education of all who are engaged in the building industry.
Who should attend? Everyone who has something to do with building at any stage - from design, through construction and its administration - architects, engineers, structural engineers, technologists, financial specialist, builders, consultants, technicians, vendors, building administrator, facility managers, tenants, building owners, developers.
