Katya Glockner Dow, Esq.
Katya Glockner Dow is an innovative advocate who is devoted to improving the lives of juveniles in the Houston community. A mother, wife, and lawyer who formerly practiced commercial litigation in Houston, Katya is currently the Legal Program Director for the Juvenile and Capital Advocacy Project, a nonprofit organization based at the University of Houston Law Center, dedicated to improving the lives of youth in socially and economically disadvantaged areas. As an adjunct professor at UH Law Center, she teaches a course of juvenile record sealing and spends countless hours sealing juvenile records for no cost. She finds this an important mission, so that young men and women who have committed minor offenses can have their records sealed in order for them to become eligible for jobs, receive financial aid for college, federal housing loans, and have the opportunity to serve in the US military. As a former volunteer for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Houston, and having previously served as a guardian ad litem for children in the Child’s Advocates organization, Katya has shown a deep and enduring commitment to the welfare of our community’s least advantaged youth. She balances this commitment with being a wife to her husband, David and a mother to their son, Lincoln and Delano, the family dog. She is also a champion Latin ballroom dancer and a passionate fitness advocate, as well as a certified Mindfulness Coach, enthusiastically promoting the value of mindfulness training.
