Adjunct Law Professor & Legal Program Director, Juvenile and Capital Advocacy Project University of Houston Law Center important mission, so that young men and women who have committed minor offenses can have their records sealed in order for them to become eligible for jobs, receive financial aid for college, federal housing loans, and have the opportunity to serve in the US military. As a former volunteer for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Houston, and having previously served as a guardian ad litem for children in the Child’s Advocates organization, Katya has shown a deep and enduring commitment to the welfare of our community’s least advantaged youth. She balances this commitment with being a wife to her husband, David and a mother to their son, Lincoln and Delano, the family dog. She is also a champion Latin ballroom dancer and a passionate fitness advocate, as well as a certified Mindfulness Coach, enthusiastically promoting the value of mindfulness training.
