Maurice Bridges serves as Director of Business/ Supplier Diversity & Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Liaison Officer (DBELO) at VIA Metropolitan Transit in San Antonio, Texas. The Agency’s Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Program policy ensures that certified firms have the maximum opportunity to participate on all US-DOT Assisted federally funded contracts. As such, he is responsible for providing guidance and counsel to the Executive Management Team and the Board of Trustees regarding the Disadvantaged and Small Business Enterprise Program. He is responsible for helping to ensure that local firms have the maximum opportunity to compete for all contracts. This includes Architecture, Engineering Services, Construction, Facilities/Maintenance and Goods and Services. Before joining VIA, he served as President of Bridges Consulting Group, a professional service consulting firm. As such, he led a team of highly skilled, management consultants who executed work plans for large, complex, government agencies and multifaceted fortune 500 companies. The primary goal was to assist agencies and organizations in improving their annual spend with Disadvantaged and Small Business Enterprises. His background includes extensive experience implementing supplier diversity initiatives with state transportation agencies, investor-owned utilities and Insurance & financial services companies. In FY 2021, 19% of all federal contracts at VIA were awarded to Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE) firms and 39% of all combined federal and local contracts were awarded to Small Business Enterprises (SBE) firms. Bridges is a member of Class XVIII of the Masters Leadership Program (MLP) of Greater San Antonio. He serves on the board of the South-Central Texas Regional Certification Agency. He also serves on the Board of Advisors at the Maestro Entrepreneur Center and Texas Diversity Council San Antonio Advisory Board. Bridges received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from North Carolina Central University in Durham NC. Bridges furthered his studies at the Kenan-Flagler Business School Executive Education Institute and the Director Diversity Institute Boot Camp at The University of Chapel Hill School of Law in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Bridges lives a healthier lifestyle and understands the importance of physical, social, mental, and spiritual self-care. He manages stress and anxiety by practicing Yoga and meditations. He enjoys running, exercising, reading, and bike riding. Bridges volunteers frequently with other employees through VIA Cares at the Food Bank of San Antonio, Salvation Army, and other civic groups throughout the City of San Antonio.
