home town

housing & sports functions

location The project home town suggest a new urban intervention for the city of Ecublens. It consists on bringing a new center for the city generating two public squares by the construction of two pur prisms.

concept The project proposes two buildings including housing and sport functions. Each building open itself on a square facing him. Big voids are dugg in the volume and offer an acces to the building. Those voids also integrate the circulation of the different levels.

student & family housing location The building is between avenue Ruchonnet and William Fraisse. Its shape looks like the Flatiron building. The roundess turns forwards the Lausanne station. Last few years, the district develops itself due to the new art museum.

roof extention In order to bring a new density and to finish the building, the proposition is to add a roof in which we live. This extension draw it inspiration from neighbouring roofs so as to become integrate into the street.

existing building It was built at the begining of the 20th centery and used to be an international hotel. The floor plan was very rational; a corridor distributing a lot of rooms. This building looks like unfinished confronted to the overall view of the street.

typology Each student owns his private room to work and sleep. Each group of roommate has a common kitchen that open itself on larg common living spaces. All students can access to the outdoor area by their room. Several public programs didicated to the whole community are accessible by the roof. Students manage those places (library, bar, fitness).

minimal housing

living in a minimal surface (20m2)

program The concept must come from our idea of a quality we find in Lausanne. . This is a district with 4 clients which have to live in the same plot. They where given at random and the project had to adapt itself to their desires.

concept The project develops itself around 3 places. These places represents the various levels of Lausanne (Ouchy, Flon, CathĂŠdrale). The public circulation is dug in a monolithic block and connects the 3 places.

working method

os

We work first with several plaster models that allowed us to build the empty spaces. With the dug shape, the challenge was to have no unused spaces. That’s why we tried to integrate specific functions and stairs in these parts.

the threshold

cultural center & restaurant & hotel inspiration This project found its inspiration by the island of the deaths from Arnold BĂścklin. It tries especially to provoke spatial sensations. At first sight, it is a little bit terrible and scary, almost dantesque. Its caracter makes him the entrance.

concept This project treat the theme of duality and space experiment. This contrast between the impressive and close aspect of the outside and the openings and the fluidity of the inside brings more strength to the experience. In spite of their opposition, they possesses the same base.

structure It was important to connect both parts by the structure. These results of the superimposing of ÂŤlinesÂť surrounding the building. These lines result from the base geometry and from the visitors flows. They are perfectly stacked towards the lake and parts to form terraces towards the hill.

artist studio on Isola Comacina introduction Islola Comacina, so known as the island of the artists is an ideal place to develop creativity and thought. There is already several artist’s house on the island. This project proposes a new place of retreat for artists.

concept The project is like an animal which comes down to the lake to drink. It takes the shape of a snake to marry better the slope. The project consists in a unique space subdivided into three parts, the upper one for the night, the middle one for the day and towards the lake, the studio.

double skin The studio is constituted by a double skin, a concrete shell which protects outside and a wooden membrane inside. We have thus a warm atmosphere inside. This double skin also allows to integrate the services into its thickness. The space remains free of any furniture and object.

archipelagoes cities housing & bar

introduction

The idea was to build a ÂŤ vertical city Âť mixing various programs . This city develops itself on a vertical matrix that contains 16 plots. Each student received a plot and could develop then freely his program. The point of the teaching was mainly about the process and the interaction between the students. and the different project.

concept

The project is situated in the middle. In a way to answer to it situation, he contains housing and a public bar. It also makes the link between two places of two matrices. It works a lot with the other project because of its centrality. The project is the continuation of the public slab which folds itself to generate indoor and outdoor spaces.

construction of the urban ground

didactic objective « Recognize on the ground a specific volumetric definition; avoid considering the urban project as a commonplace articulation of « full » and « empty », but as that must guarantee a formal autonomy in the space opened. »

analysis At the city scale, the trenches are the link and the separation between the news and the old city. At the territorial scale, the project is a part of a vaster system that connect both sides of the lake.

moebus stadium

structural & architectural conception

inspiration For this project, we chose as source of inspiration the ribbon of Moebius because of its unique geometrical property. Then we thought about a program which would be adequate to the shape of ring which is created by the ribbon of Moebius. We chose then to make a stadium.

working method The first step was to confer a volume to our project. Thus we tried to adapt the ribbon of Moebius to a polygonale section. We work first with a square, but we realised that a triangular section was more adapted to a stadium.

modul deformation We studied several structural systems (frames, shells, mesh). The complexity of our shape and the rotation of the section led us to opt for a metallic net made by several moduls. The module can deform and adapt itself to the geometrical complexity of the shape.
