My lovely Kiwis! School is finally out. Yes, this means lazier mornings, more sleep, and a ton of relaxation, but don’t forget to continue the amazing amount of service that you have all been doing lately. Although you should definitely relax in this nice summer weather, don’t forget that there are many opportunities for you and your club to serve the community! My favorite summer service event is Relay for Life. What’s yours? This summer, take advantage of the free time you have by connecting with others. It’s important that you get to know every single member in your club in order to work as a team and start strong once school kicks off again. Encourage or plan bonding events to kick off summer along with a service project! Do whatever you can to benefit others in need this summer. I am extremely proud of the progress we have all made so far. In total, we’ve logged 2,500+ service hours and raised nearly $3,000 to our preferred charities. WOW! G double-O D J-O-B good job, good job! Keep in mind that each club should strive to raised at least $150 to Project Eliminate and donate a percentage of your other fundraisers to Pediatric Trauma Program. This month, I would like you each participate in at least three service events. Keep that Kiwi service going! Deed of Kindness: This month, because we are still in a drought, change one habit in your household to conserve water.

SOARing for Service,

Kevin Moyung Division 2 Lieutenant Governor 2014-2015

LTG’s Welcome 5

July’s Service Initiative

The Spotlight on Service Program was created to educate Cali-Nev-Ha Key Clubbers about the Key Club International as well as Cali-Nev-Ha Service Initiatives and encourage active participation with/for the organizations and initiatives. A service Initiative is assigned each month in which clubs should focus a project or two on supporting the initiative.

The July Focus is...

Go Outdoors

In this day and age, too many of us are stuck to our phones and computer screens. But this July, we Key Club members are aiming to change that with our focus to help ourselves and others to maintain active with the outdoors to maintain healthy lives. How will you promote GO OUTDOORS in your home, school, and community?

The new website is redesigned to provide resources and other kiwirelated features in the most user-friendly way possible! Features like articles, club summaries, recognition, and photo galleries will be updated regularly - so make sure you check up on those tabs. DLT and Task Coordinator bios are also available online. The homepage provides most of the basic information you need to stay updated with our division (calendar, monthly service focus, etc.), but you should explore the entire website anyway. Remember, d2kiwis.org is for YOU, the members, so please let me know if you have any suggestions for new features, etc., or email me pictures at remy.afong@gmail.com for the photo gallery section! Clubs are encouraged to submit service project ideas/reflections by completing this Spotlight on Service Submission Form. The form is due by the 5th of each month for the previous month. If you are planning on submitting pictures, please send them to cnhkc.sp@gmail.com. Please remember that to send action pictures of members doing service and not posing. Upon submission for a certain focus, the submitted service project is not required to be of that month’s focus as long as it is one of the enlisted. Every month the district will showcase projects from the previous month in the district newsletter. You may receive recognition and inspire others with your creative project ideas.

Annual Joint Banquet Adrienne Le, Oakland Technical Remember the banquet that ended Charles wonderful term just as Cindy started her term. Well on May 31st, 2014, we were able to witness the bitter sweet moment of Cindy’s spectacular term come to an end as she handed Kevin Moyung the Division 2 banner. Cindy’s teary speech was a reminder on how well we did in the past term and how much we have improved as a whole division. It was a reminder that we are all in this together and that Division 2 members works together and sticks together. It was also a reminder that we should be proud to be Kiwis. Although her speech made people shed a tear or two or twenty six, it let us know that we are much more than a division, or a big group of friends; we are a family, a big ohana.

Thank you to e my dearest wish you and hold i resources. It is who have inspi me, thank you

I want you to r not only me, b ble,” can be ma my heart, every tion. Thank yo the value of ser

Even though it was like a “good-bye” to Cindy, it was also a welcoming to Kevin. After Kevin made his corny remark, he began his speech of what he is willing to do for the Division and how he was ready to work with all of us, including the other Division LTGs. It was a short but sweet speech and we are expecting great things from Kevin because we know he will go above and BEE-yond.

And to the adv time, and supp foundation, an munities and t given us.

Also, Congratulations to all the clubs that won an award or two. Your love for Key Club and service has shined through! You had an amazing term and I know that you will continue to BEE amazing! G-O-O-D J-O-B! 20

Adrienne Le Fall Rally North Coordinator

Hello BEE-utiful Kiwis! My name is Adrienne Le and I am a Junior at Oakland Technical High School. I am proud to say that I am one of the 2014-2015 Fall Rally North Task Coordinators. I’m extremely exited to be working with Allan Nguyen, Song Quan, and YOU to make cheers that are the bomb.com. I am dorky, weird, and you can win me over with the offer of free food. Don’t be fooled by my shortness because I am a loud obnoxious person who will cheer till she looks like a crazy seal that can’t make any noise. But in other words, I am truly honored to help bring even more crazy spirit to this large, amazing division. With my my voice that easily cracks and my ability to start cheer and then mess up, I will help Kiwis fly to the final round and (hopefully) win the spirit stick. Like the wise kiwis once said, TWEET TWEET!

Allan Nguyen Fall Rally North Coordinator

Hi! My name is Allan Nguyen. I’m going to be your 2014-2015 FRN Coordinator, holla ;) I’m excited that I’m being able to help win that spirit stick when FRN hits! Before all that though, I’ll introduce myself. I’m going to be a junior during my term, I swim & play volleyball, & I’m a bit of a Roshe head. During my free time, I like to eat, sleep & watch anime. I’m hoping that this year, we can come up with cheers that’ll blow the crowd away! Because we still got our #2Wengz & we’ll save Mo’ Yung kids :D

Song Quan

Fall Rally North Coordinator Hello Kiwis! My name is Song Quan, and I am a sophomore at Castro Valley High School. I can’t believe I have the privilege to serve my division as one of the three Fall Rally North Coordinators, and I am excited to make this year’s FRN be the best it can possibly be! Feel free to hmu, or ask me any questions you may have. I enjoy playing football, drinking boba, and making people smile :) I hope to meet and get to know each and every one of you! Lets make this year’s FRN go above and BEE-yond! 28

I would love to meet as many of you as I can, so if you have any questions or just want to talk, feel free to contact me on Facebook! I look forward to an outstanding term with you all!

Remy Afong Technology Editor

Wendy Li

Helloooo everyone! My name is Remy Afong and I am your 2014-2015 Technology Coordinator! Next year, I will be a senior at Piedmont High. I will do my best to keep everyone updated through the website and am looking forward to communicating with you all through Twitter and Instagram. In my free time, I like to watch random Youtube videos, make friendship bracelets, and eat. I LOVE all food - especially chocolate and ribs (but not together). Actually I’ve never tried that combination, but maybe it’d taste good? Feel free to contact me if you have any suggestions for the website or questions about the meaning of life. <3

Public Relations Coordinator Tweet Tweet! Hey Kiwis! I’m Wendy, I’m a junior at Arroyo High and I’m going to be your public relations coordinator for the 2014-2015 term. Key Club really made the past two years of high school more memorable, from meeting new people to being inspired by the people I met, how we all have the same goal and we’re all working together to reach that goal. Along the paths of reaching those goals with my fellow kiwis I’ve learned to enjoy the small things in life and never take anything for granted. Because of key club I spend most of my weekends serving the community. Other then key club and school, I also enjoy dancing, hiking, and definitely food and internet! Because of all you amazing and BEEutiful kiwis I’m look foward to serve and meet every single one of you who are changing the world one step at a time. 29
