HOW TO HELP YOUR COMMUNITY THROUGH THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

QUOTE OF THE MONTH "Always remember you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, smarter than you think and twice as beautiful as you've ever imagined -Dr. Seuss

IN THIS ISSUE COVID 19 WAYS TO BE PRODUCTIVE AT HOME AND MORE !

A word from the News Editor

Hello Division 8, I hope everyone is safe and are following social distancing through this whole pandemic. Throughout this disaster, I am doing my part and staying home. I know a lot of teenagers have felt suffocated in their homes and are bored out of their mind, so I included a few activities that I think would be productive to pass the time. I hope this newsletter gives you some entertainment and I really hope you and all your families are safe through this all.

In service, Ilse Rojo d08.cnhkc.dne@gmail.com

Things to do in Quarantine

Due to the Corona Virus pandemic, all of the California schools have shut down. Because of this, we have all been on quarantine in our homes. Many people have come to the point of boredom but here are a few things you can do to stay productive during this time ! Clean out your closet

Fill out Scholarships

There are many charities and homeless shelters in everyone's areas that could use your help! During this time at home, it would be good to go through your clothes and take out clothes that you haven't work in a few years (or ever). Wash them, put them in bags and have them ready to donate once the shelter in place is lifted

To my fellow seniors,...THERE ARE STILL A LOT OF SCHOLARSHIPS OPEN AND THE DEADLINES ARE APRIL/MAY. Research and make sure you are financially set up for college this fall ! Even if you aren't a senior, use this opportunity to save up money for your future education.

Make a Personal Yearbook Although all our school years were cut short, we still made a lot of memories this school year ( remember FRN and how we got to the second round for the first time ever ). Organize your pictures and print them at home if possible (if not, try to send them in to places that you go for your necessary weekly grocery runs).

Work Out Summer is coming up and right now is the best time to get that summer body you've been putting off this school year. Try yoga, do some leg or arm workouts or just stretch...anything counts!

Armijo High School The Matt Garcia Foundation holds a downtown clean up every last Saturday of the month. Students walk around cleaning trash from the floor, ensuring a safe and clean environment. This recent clean up was extremely memorable for Armijo had the most participants it’s ever had.

Benicia High School

Easter Preparation & Inventory Key Club helped at the Kiwanis sponsored annual Easter egg hunt in city park

D8 Sharetea Fundraiser There was a Key Club fundraiser at Sharetea to raise profits to donate.

Sons and Daughters of Italy Dinner Key club helped serve food to Sons and Daughters of Italy members.

American Canyon High School Crab Feed The annual Crab Feed is back, and it’s better than before! Key Clubbers worked alongside many other volunteers such as ones from Kiwanis and other school programs like swim and band. We mostly helped in the kitchen, helping set up orders and making most of the food. Before and afterward, we also set up and cleaned up, which took up the majority of our time. Nevertheless, this year’s Crab Feed was one of the best yet, with most Key Clubbers taking something new with them as they leave the event.

Other Events ACHS did: -Sharetea Fundraiser -Food Pantry

Reading Buddies The weekly Reading Buddies is back! Key Clubbers once more spent time with younger children by playing, reading, and learning with them! Many memories and bonds were made, which both Key Clubbers and elementary kids will hopefully remember as they grow.
