LTG'S LTG'S WELCOME WELCOME KAYLEE WONG Division 12 South Lieutenant Governor

"What's Scheming, Supervillains?! I would like to start off by thank all of those who attended Key Club Training Conference 2019 where we SAVED SERVICE together! I hope you had an amazing time and it was truly an honor to prepare this event for you. I would also like to thank those who attended the July Division Council Meeting on July 13th where we discussed division updates, made bracelets for children, and soaked each other with water balloons! Remember that July’s Spotlight on Service Program is: BEE Clean, CNH! Focus your service projects and fundraisers toward cleaning up our community! As summer is coming to an end, remember to plan ahead to recruit new members, especially freshmen, who are looking to join our wonderful organization. I know you may be sad that summer is winding down.. but that means you can look forward to Region Training Conference on September 28-29th! Save the date for Royals of Service!"

SERVICE HIGHLIGHTS

SILVER CREEK Service Event: The Fountain Blues & Brews Date: June 22, 2019 Written by: Angela Huynh, Commissione “The Fountain Blues & Brews was certainly a memorable event. They had the volunteers scan tickets and give out wristbands at admissions. One thing I loved was the live music from the concert”.

ANN SOBRATO Service Event: Nikkei Matsuri Date: May 3, 2019 Written by: Allison Chang

“I volunteered with Savannah He at Nikkei Matsuri! I’ve always enjoyed the events at Japantown and have been to almost every single one of them. Savannah and I were assigned various activities that we found fun to work in as a team. The variety within our work such as working with food making to working in sales or even just in the parking area to guide cars was never a bore. We were even able to make new friends outside of our school at this event! I already can’t wait to go again next year!”

SERVICE HIGHLIGHTS ANDREW HILL Event: Key Club Training Conference Date: June 30, 2019 By: Leyanna Lawson “This was my first year attending kctc and I had so much fun. This was a great experience for me to broaden my horizons to meet a lot of new and amazing people. Coming to this event was a really great idea and I would suggest coming to it to anyone that didn’t come or isn’t a key club member.”

OAKGROVE Service Event: Music in the Glen Date: June 20, 2019 Written by: Michelle Ho, Junior Spirit Coordinator

“Yes, Music in the Glen was fun! First, we helped put up banners and set up chairs and tables. After setting up, the event started and people started coming in. Our main job was to help at the food booth, like selling hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, pretzels, and beverages. I also made some friends with other Key Clubbers from other schools! When the event was over, we helped clean up by taking down all the tables, chairs, and banners. We also helped dump out the ice from the coolers with the beverages. My favorite part was definitely meeting all the different Key Clubbers from different schools. This event really helped me KEY-nect with other people!!”

SERVICE HIGHLIGHTS

EVERGREEN VALLEY Music In The Glen (6/20) Written By: Victoria Yan (Web Master) "Music in the Glen was a lot of fun! It was a unique experience and a great opportunity to meet some of our fellow division members from Oak Grove Key Club. I had a lot of fun fetching sodas, even though my hands were soon frozen from constantly reaching into the ice bucket. I look forward to going back again!"

LELAND Event: Neighborhood Dumpster Day Date: June 15, 2019 Written by: Conner Shih “Leland had a great turnout at this event. We had 10 people show up from Leland!! Overall, Leland helped out a lot with this event contributing to guiding directions, tossing out the trash and serving the community. This event was a good place for key clubbers and non key clubbers to bond and it was a way to feel connected and included. I think this was a good event to help out at because everyone there was just trying to help the neighborhood and giving back to the community.

SERVICE HIGHLIGHTS

PIONEER Service Event: Kiwanis Special Games Date: May 17, 2019 Written by: Eliana Chang, Junior Member

“My experience in Special Games was really good! I think the volunteers were treated really well and it was great helping out the participants. The best part was just hanging out with the participants because they were really sweet and fun to be around with! I really missed them when they left.”

SANTA TERESA Service event: Badminton Tournament Date: 6/22/19 Written by Irene Chin, senior member "The badminton tournament was a very hard to plan and execute but the end result was very rewarding. From working hours trying to figure out what we needed to do to balance out the players from causing any conflicts, to figuring out how to manage the games with the amount of volunteers we had. By the time of the tournament, the brackets, players and volunteers were all set and the games went by smoothly. Being both a planner, player and volunteer, I can say that it was an amazing and successful event. I had tons of fun and I got the chance to bond with my board and friends. I’m so glad and proud of my board for being such an amazing group to work with and I look forward to many more events like these."
