HAPPY DECEMBER, NINJAS!

I hope you guys are staying healthy changes. I always get allergies when the seasons transitions :(

I experienced my first and last FRS met my DCON bestie, THE Minju Kim. friends from the D8W Moons, D04E Goldfishes, D36W Huskies, and D28N Phoenixes! I also saw the District Newsletter Editor! The experience was so surreal and I would do anything to moment! I hope you guys also enjoyed!

The holidays are coming up, so time with your love ones! During the holidays, my family and I eat yummy Filipino dishes and lots of seafood. We also take advantage of the sales and go shopping! My Winter Break isn’t too eventful, but this year I’m going to Disneyland!

GUYS, it is absolutely mind-blowing that I have made EIGHT newsletters, 4 more to go!

Can’t wait to spend the last months of my Key Club journey with all of you!

Trauma Program (PTP). The program’s mission is to help children suffering from trauma though local projects. These projects need funding, which is where Key Club comes into play. At Fall Rally South, Kiwanis Governor Valerie Brown-Klingelhoefer discussed the impact of fundraising. A portion of money clubs raise goes to baby car seat stickers. On the sticker, families can write the child’s name and address. Brown-Klingelhoefer told FRS attendees and instance in which a child in a car seat was alone on the road after a car crash. Because of the sticker on the carseat, the child was able to be identified and brought back to their family. In comparison, a child found without the sticker took 7 weeks to be brought back home. These stories emphasizes the importance of fundraising and how it impacts the community.

03 FEATURE As the term comes to a close, it is time to elect new boards for the 2023-2024 Term! Want to know how club elections operate? Or what officer positions YOU can run for? Check out pages 16 and 17!

LT. GOVERNOR'S LETTER SIERIANNA CHEA

BRRRRR, cuddle up and layer up ninjas because it is shiver season! As we all cool down with the weather and calm down from all of the Fall Rally season chaos, we welcome our arms to your continued attendance and efforts for the rest of the term! With December hitting, we only have a few months left together as we begin election season for the next term, starting with your own Lieutenant Governor. It is sad, but my term ends at some point and though not until April, we are opening up the opportunity for the 2023-2024 term Lieutenant Governor to be elected! After this comes clubs and district positions so be sure to be on the lookout if you are interested in serving Key Club as the officers have done so wonderfully thus far! On a more warm note, we are halfway through our term and halfway to our fundraising goal!

Keep the funding going and continue serving like there is no tomorrow! To conclude Fall Rally season, I just want to say a big warm thank you to all of you for making my last Fall Rally South one for the books and one I surely will remember. You all made my last one the best one just by you being there :) I love you all so very much and am not ready to leave but am so ready to soon see you all flourish with ambition and passion! You are mighty ninjas! Take care of yourselves and really do some self care during the winter time! Happy Holidays and I hope to see you more often in the division! Mwah mwah <3

In November, over 100 Mighty Mighty Ninjas went to Fall Rally South! Members had a blast meeting new Key Clubbers in the DISTRICT, riding rides, and creating memories with each other. The division made it to the final round! Thank you to Spirit Team for creating and teaching the cheers as well as all the members’ efforts put into learning them! Moreover, we had our annual Region 8 Potluck DCM to celebrate our accomplishments.

For the month of December, clubs continue to plan service events and fundraisers. Moreover, they are preparing for elections as the end of the term slowly approaches. We are thrilled to announce… D13S will have a float in the Daisy Lane Parade! Can’t wait for you to see the float in which Publicity Committee members Elijah, Eloise, and Clairose worked hard on! Continue serving and fundraising! The term is not over yet!

FRS SERVICE SOCIAL

At PKC’s service social, we made leis, tutus, spirit sticks, practiced cheers, and most importantly HAD FUNNN:)) The event had a good balance of both spirit with members learning cheers and making sticks as well as service with members making tutus and leis. Personally, I loved bonding with other members. It was also nice having the event at a park because we got to play on the playground and omg guys at Discovery Well is AMAZING! I think the highlight of the event was the Tik Tok we made and messing around in the pitch black dark lol. We also had some friends from Browning at the event! Thank you so much to their club advisor and Ms. Lin for chaperoning! We L-O-V-E our advisors!

FALL FESTIVAL

It was an annual Sato social event where all school clubs can sell items or have activities for all students to participate in. There were different foods being sold, jumpers to go on, and even dance performances by the clubs. Sato Key Club sold spam musubi for $3 (6 tickets) and sold al l 100 spam musubi!

SPIRIT RALLY

Fall Rally South is by far one of the most largest events in every key club in which many key clubbers anticipate. I will be honest I did not know what to expect as FRS ‘22 was my first FRS EVER. Right away from the bus ride there, I already could tell it was going to be a fun day as all every member was both excited to ride rides at six flags and cheer our lungs out at the actual rally. On my particular bus (yes…poly had the nice bus), we practiced the mini and main cheers, took extra minutes of sleep, and prepared for the day ahead. Once we got off the bus and entered the park, we got right to spirit battling. However, the atmosphere dramatically changed at the actual rally. Even being a spirit coord, I was even nervous. But hey, nervousness just means you care, and we channel that care into energy. And I could tell that everyone through the same because the volume was SO POWERFUL. TOO POWERFUL. Every one of our cheers were some of the sickest beats on earth. We made it through all three rounds but lost in a three way battle. and despite losing, the morale and bond of the division solidified exponentially . Despite (ahem…) some tears being shed, we knew that was the best we could do. Personally, winning does not matter, it is the attitude of the division that matters to me. And the attitude was still kept upbeat after the rally. From Sieri to our DLT to our spirit team and our members, we knew we had done our best to win, but we keep our chins up because WE STILL GET TO ENJOY THE PARK FOR A FEW HOURS. We ate some food (meal pass worth it fr), rode some more rides and then made the journey home. And what’s a home bound bus ride without karaoke and “I Want It That Way” on the way back?

PREPARATIONS

Educate members on the duties of each available position. Figure out who is running for each position. You can do so by sending out a Google Form.

Candidates prepare a speech.

SPEECHES

Speeches should not exceed 5 minutes. Moderator(s) of the election, cut off the candidate when time limit is reached.

In your speech, include your envisioning of what you will do if elected. How will you impact your club? What are you goals? How do you overcome obstacles? Strengths?

Know your speech by heart! Reading off your phone does not appeal to the members and could make you less qualified. .

CAUCUS

Following speeches, there is a 4-minute-long caucus session. The candidate will be asked questions by the current position holder and/or members.

VOTING

After all candidates of a position complete their speech, members vote. Do not be bias when voting. Vote for who YOU think will be the best choice.

RULES

Candidates are prohibited to campaign. Both the candidate and members should not speak badly about other candidates.

Why did you join Key Club?

Key club is the biggest clubs at my school so it really made me wonder why people join & made me curious. I also wasn’t really involved in things so I wanted to try joining something at school.

What has Key Club taught you?

It taught me that there are so many people willing to talk to you & be your friend and that’s there’s so many opportunities that open up to you.

What is your Key Club moment?

My key club moment was the Night Market DCM in 2021. That was my first event ever and I was really scared to talk to anyone because I didn’t know many people but nonetheless people took me in and introduced me, and I got to try new things!! I also got to see how Key Club works with the meeting before DCM and the different positions, it really made me want to know more :D

If someone is reluctant to join Key Club, what would you say to them

It can seem “cringey” or too loud but once you get into Key Club you realize how much you can get into it. You also realize how serious people take it and want to make it the best experience possible!
